Came to worth ranch the first time on Vday. We were seated right away which was great and I think a first on Valentine’s Day. Décor is really cute and we were greeted by the mgr upon entry which was really nice. We had the beer cheese fondue with pears, grapes and sausage. Really yummy, I definitely recommend adding the sausage, it was really tasty. We had the prime rib special. Great portion size, very flavorful and good quality. The mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were both well seasoned and really good. For desert we had the smore pudding and pecan praline tart. Yum! The tart had a delicious Carmel sauce the the smore pudding had a toasted marshmallow topping The service was top notch and the mgr Caitlyn even came to check on us. Well done! We will def be back

Ok so this is supposed to be a Texas BBQ place. Let’s start from there. Discount the food quality because we are in California. Discount it again because we are in a suburb. And another discount because it’s Valentine’s Day. And it’s still atrocious. Ribs were smoky but extremely dry. Cornbread tasted old and dry. Spinach was salty. Fried chicken had no taste and was dry. Even the mashed potatoes were tasteless. Prime rib was ok. Mac n cheese was ok. Hot beer sausage tastes ok but it was a little on the hard side. Service is ok. A tad slow but it’s also Valentine’s Day. Pretty far from Texas other than the décor which is quite nice. It really feels like we’re in Texas. Staff is friendly and music is authentic.

Finally checked this place out! Lets be clear: 3 – 3.5 stars for the food, but bumped it up to 4 for good service. The only bad part was that we had to wait 5 – 10 minutes despite having a reservation. Came here tonight with my parents. I love bourbon and bbq so we were pretty eager to try this place. I ordered the rodzilla burger med rare no bun, bacon on the side. We also got wings and gulf prawns and finished it all off with the bread pudding. Takeaways: awesome wings. They dont use hot sauce but I got some on the side. They are smoked and cooked perfectly crispy. Yummy. Burger is always pretty solid and it was cooked perfectly, finished the whole thing. Spinach side was gross, way too salty. Bread pudding was subpar at best. However, the server was very friendly and good at his job! Will probably be back, but only if I’m with my parents – its not the cheapest place!

My In-Laws brought us here for dinner. Sadly the negative outweighed the positive. 1. No Hot Tea. They don’t have it. Ever. 2. Salad arrived with dinner, not before. Waiter assumed we wanted it that way as the entrée was split. 3. No Decaf coffee, they were out, at 6pm on Thur. 4. Pulled pork was full of fat, and yet dry. 5. Margarita ordered did not taste right, was returned to the bar. I was not impressed.

I patiently waited for the grand opening of Worth Ranch after hearing the rumors around town that Rodney Worth(local restaurant entrepreneur) was opening his 7th restaurant in the Bay Area. I gave it a couple weeks after it opened before my wife and I went because we like to give a new restaurant time to «work out the kinks» before we go. During my waiting period I began to hear people’s reviews of the establishment. Most everyone was raving at how good it was, and a few had their opinions that said otherwise. I heard more good things than negative during that time. We booked a table on for a Friday night around 6:00PM. Apon arriving we were very pleased with the décor and friendly staff. Our table was very comfortable considering the décor/vibe is very cozy and rustic. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich and my wife had a the Burger. Both were fantastic. Quality was good and food was hot and fresh. Everything on the menu looked great as well as the libation menu. Overal I loved Worth Ranch and don’t understand certain peoples complaints about quality, service, price, etc. — We will be returning very soon to try the other yummy items and enjoy the vibes of the restaurant.

My wife and I like some of Rodney Worth’s restaurants and we were really hoping to like Worth Ranch. But I’m afraid we didn’t. Once we were seated, we were immediately turned off by the prices. It’s not that we don’t enjoy expensive fancy meals; in fact, we eat foie gras every time we see it on a menu. But Worth Ranch has the highest prices of any BBQ restaurant we’ve ever been to, and we’ve been all across the West and the South and tried some of the best. That said, we figured that if the quality and flavors lived up to the prices, then we’d be hooked. My wife ordered a half rack of ribs. $ 24. Have you ever paid $ 24 for a half rack? For $ 24, I was expecting Unicorn ribs. My wife didn’t like the ribs. She said that ribs should be fall-off-the-bone tender, but that she had to use her fork and knife. She said that she likes the ribs better at Outback, which is really sad. I tried one of her ribs. I don’t like much fat and thought it was inedible. Maybe it was a Unicorn rib after all. The entrée came with two sides which were delivered in small ramekins. The mac & cheese was very mediocre, but the maple yams were actually very good. I ordered the fried chicken. The breading had the texture and flavor of cornmeal. Very dry and grainy. Granted, everyone has different tastes, and some might really enjoy the breading, but I didn’t like it at all. I peeled it off and left it on my plate. The chicken itself was average. No complaints. But no rave reviews either. The chicken comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, red pepper jelly, and a biscuit. The gravy was unusually flavorful, but a tad bit too salty. Still, I really liked it. The red pepper jelly never came, so I can’t comment on it. When I ordered, I asked the waitress if I could substitute something else for the biscuit and she graciously agreed to bring me cornbread instead. But honestly, it was very dry and very small. I love cornbread and I didn’t even eat the whole thing. Mind you, if you order the cornbread as a side, it will be $ 4. It was about the size of a cupcake. A small cupcake. No, really, take a look at the picture below. I would lose my mind if I paid $ 4 for cupcake-sized freeze-dried cornbread. Ok, it wasn’t really freeze-dried. I don’t want to be sued for libel. But it was crazy dry. To be fair, the butter that came with the cornbread was actually pretty good. It was flavored with pear. But good butter does not make up for bad cornbread. I’m not gonna eat the butter with a spoon. The waitress removed my plate, which had all of the breading, about a third of the chicken, and half the cornbread remaining. She came back and asked how things were and we summarized what I wrote above. At no time did a manager drop by to express concern over our disappointment. We weren’t looking to have our meals comped, but an invitation to try them again, perhaps accompanied with a coupon, might’ve gone a long way. Oh well. We won’t be back. In all fairness, the restaurant is only six weeks old, and I’m sure some kinks still need to be worked out. I have nothing against Rodney Worth. My wife and I like Little Pear and The Peasant and The Pear.

We read about this place in the paper and stopped by for lunch, today. I ordered the Fried Chicken and my wife ordered the Shrimp & Grits. My entrée came with jus 3 small pieces of chicken, a small mound of mashed potato w/gravy, a Biscuit and a tiny metal cup of Pepper Jelly. I ordered a side of Mac N Cheese, thinking it was the«one side included» shown on the menu. My wife ordered the Side Salad thinking it was her choice of an included side dish. Imagine our surprise when our bill showed both those items at $ 4 charge, each. When we asked the server about it, he said that those were extra because the included side was already on our plates — in my case, the biscuit! Apparently, a choice of sides comes only with the sandwich and BBQ items! In any case, neither dish was worth the $ 20 and $ 25 price, let alone adding $ 4 more to the total ticket. Food-wise, the fried chicken was just OK — moist interior but fairly dry, overall. Chicken flavor was OK but breading had an odd texture — like it was cornmeal and very dry. The biscuit was horrible — dry, not light or fluffy. The Pepper Jelly was the best thing on the plate but there was only about one tablespoon of it in the little metal cup. It look a while to get more of it. This was, definitely, overpriced for lunch or dinner. My wife arrived at the same conclusion about her Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was nicely done but the grits were not very sophisticated in flavor — pretty basic. Service was kinda spotty and took a long time to get our check. Her iced tea was a flavored iced tea when she thought it was to be a plain, unsweetened iced tea but neither the menu nor the served stated anything about it. My Arnold Palmer was also pretty weak and unsatisfactory. Bottom line — none of the above was worth the prices they charge!!! Forget this place! Jim

Seriously, how many good restaurants are there in San Ramon? Not many. We had a group of six attend for dinner this past Saturday. The place was packed. It was loud. The place was full of energy and the restaurant did not disappoint. I had to pinch myself, were we really dining in a fun restaurant in San Ramon? We started with the cheddar beer fondue, house made pretzels, pears, & grapes with grilled sausage. Pretty unique dish and plenty to share for the group. [I think the guys enjoyed it more than the gals.] Shared with my wife a little bit of chicken fried, half of a Mary’s organic chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuit. [For the uninformed, like myself, Marys Free Range Chickens are from the Pitman family farm. These Chickens are raised in the San Joaquin Valley in California, .com]. Not the greatest fried chicken, but the chicken was moist and tasty(wife doesn’t eat the skin, but I do!). Also ordered the mac & cheese and corn bread on the side(disappointing, bland). At the table, two folks ordered sandwiches, 1) club, roast chicken, swiss, bacon, sprouts, tomato, mayo, sourdough bread and 2) california tri tip, fig jam, arugula, blue cheese mousse, ciabatta roll. I got a five stars on the sandwiches. The ladies each ordered the southern chicken salad, lettuce blend, grilled chicken breast, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, corn, onion strings, bbq ranch. Pretty big salad. Also got a five star rating for the salads. Service was great. I think the owner even came by several times to check how we were doing(nice touch!). Besides Worth Ranch, the following restaurants are part of the Worth Group: The Peasant’s Courtyard(Alamo), The Pear Southern Bistro(Napa), and The Peasant & The Pear, The Prickly Pear Cantina, The Little Pear, and Ferrari’s Cucina Italiana, all in Danville. I’m hoping the quality of the food at Worth Ranch catches up to the other Worth restaurants because like I said, how many good restaurants are there in San Ramon?

Stopped by Worth Ranch today for lunch and it was delicious! We were greeted promptly, offered a couple of table choices and, once seated, our waiter, Chris, came quickly to take our drink order. He was very helpful in describing menu items and gave us his opinion when deciding between a couple of different entrees. We split the Tri-tip and Club sandwiches with the Pecan coleslaw and Mac n’ Cheese for our sides. Everything was very flavorful and the meat was so tender… just as Chris promised it would be! Looking forward to going back with a group so we can try some of the appetizers, etc. Good job, Rod!

This space when it was Big Horn Steakhouse use to be my favorite American food restaurant, but they succumbed to the economic downturn. Then Jack’s took over and was doomed from the start. In comes the Worth Group with Worth Ranch a BBQ joint. They have returned the décor to a rustic western ranch theme with great country music in the background. 2.5 star experience today. Arrived and seated right away. Appeared to be only a couple of servers for the whole place and the lunch crowd was busy. Our server was MIA on several occasions. Pros: Rodzilla Burger with bacon cheddar and a pile of fried onions was cooked to perfection. Grilled Chicken Salad nicely dressed fresh Veggies served with a pile of fried onions Cons: Burnt Ends appetizer served with a pile of fried onions was terrible just some blackened fat and shavings off some beef ribs. No smoke flavor and bland BBQ sauce. $ 13 Mac & Cheese bland bland bland The chef needs to taste his food. No really! And place all of plates together and realize how many items have fried onion toppings. Service needs some improvement. Plenty of parking.

Well, it’s another mediocre restaurant in San Ramon. Poor San Ramon… we just can’t get a decent restaurant. I had such high hopes for Worth Ranch but it is truly nothing special. It’s not awful, but its mediocre and with the prices they’re asking, that’s a real disappointment. They need to lower their prices significantly to match the quality of the food. We ordered the sampler BBQ platter and all the meats were cold and under flavored and sauced. I know they’re new, and probably still working out the service kinks, but things came out in a very strange order, making the entire meal experience, just not very fun and relaxing. Ohwell. When we want tasty BBQ and a fun environment, we’ll be heading to Sauced in Livermore, as we were.

Another stellar edition by Rodney to his already great stable of San Ramon Valley restaurants. Everything we ordered came in on time and was delicious. Our waitress was awesome and she was really friendly with our 3yr old. Really made us feel at home. We started with the Caramelized Onion dip and homemade chips which was great. I ordered the Dixie chicken Sammy and it was delish. My wife ordered the Rodzilla burger which also was yummy. We can’t wait to go back and check off some other choices on the menu.

First time here, I know it just opened this month, I have been dying to try it. I think it’s nice to have a fancy restaurant in the area. I would definitely take clients here, or better yet have vendors take me here. This place seems like it could easily cater to the Bishop Ranch /Residence Inn crowd. Pros The Pear-tini($ 10 normal) is especially yummy and you can’t have just one. They have TV’s in the bar if you want to drink and watch the game The sound of the bar doesn’t carry over to the dining room The Sloppy Joe($ 11) was big, tasty with fresh bread. Smoked wings were great. Smoky is good. The garlic green beans were quite tasty, I really enjoyed them. The kid loved the grilled cheese, comes with a tomato and it adds a flare to it. and it was on the big side($ 10) The other kid like the small cup of pasta($ 5) with butter. Perfect for the picky one. Service was on top of it. A+ I left my purse(common with me) and they had it locked up and waiting for me:-) Cons Parking is tight, narrow spaces. Sloppy Joe could use a bit more sloppy sauce, but it was still tasty. I might be resorting back to my «manwich» childhood experiences, it’s been a decade since I’ve had sloppy Joe. The entrees were a little pricey. I really wanted to order the shrimp and grits but for $ 25 I have to wait until a vendor buys:-( 4:30pm seemed like a good time to come in, before the rush and the demand for the reserved tables. Seems like you really need reservations.

I have been so stoked about the opening of a new restaurant close to work. My first experience — I wanted to look at a menu for TOGO for lunch during my workday– the hostess gave me the menu. But, then explained that they don’t have a ‘TOGO’ system set up yet. She explained I would go tot he bar, order, then when my order came out I needed to ask for a TOGO box… really? That was a bit confusing… If they have TOGO boxes, but don’t have a button in the system(or whatever) to mark it TOGO… Wouldn’t you think they would let the kitchen know to just put it in a TOGO box for the customer instead of the customer doing it at the bar. My second experience — A few of my co-workers had been there before I went and all the comments were not too exciting. I went there for lunch. I was by myself at the table waiting for the other people to show up and it took the waiter 8 minutes to just come say hi and see what I wanted to drink. I would understand if they were all running around busy — but it wasn’t like that. I saw the waiter chatting it up with co– workers. Being an X-waitress and X-bartender myself those kind of things really make an experience. The waiter was extremely pleasant by all means. but I think paying attention to the table in your section needs to be a priority. As of the food, I ordered the sloppy Joe and mac ‘n’ cheese side. It was just OK. There was orange grease all over the plate from the meat and the mac ‘n’ cheese was sub par — nothing special. I will definitely try this place again — as I know with any opening of restaurants they re-create the menu as they go. I just hope for the price(typical of other restaurants in the area) the food matches up with it. I do hope this review helped as I really enjoyed the space they created.

Wanted dinner after a sports event last Friday night so we went to Rodney Worth’s new restaurant. The food was really flavorful, the service was good and we didn’t have to wait long for a table. The atmosphere was fun and lively but maybe too loud for our friends who wanted a quiet place to eat. I plan on going back.

Ok so again I tried yet another of Rodney’s ever growing list of places to eat. Went in on sat night around 5:30. Service was good and that’s it. We ordered appetizers at the bar and were very disappointed. Had the fondue which was cold but put in a hot cast iron skillet(did they even warm the cheese before placing it there?) and it had a quarter slice of pear sliced thin, approx 15 grapes, some cold and over cooked pretzel curds and we ordered the sausage to go with it($ 4 for approx 8 slices). All in all $ 14 for cold and stale fondue wasn’t doing it for us. The onion rings were over greasy, the shrimp were over cooked and not hot to temp and the potato skins were also cold and lacking flavor. For the bar — peartini(which they have slightly modified from Hollies Peardise Martini at Blackhawk grille) was nice. Then the list has simple things like jack and Coke, Titos and red bull and other cocktails that you can find at the other locations Rodney has. Not anything special. Online they advertise they are specializing in bourbon and whisky, she had got the bar menu it hardly had any cocktails showcasing that and there was no list even advertising what they had that was promoting their specialization in those spirits. They have a few(2 special /barrel jack Daniels, bookers, whisky pig and a couple others on a shelf. If they are trying to be like Pican in Oakland(my assessment) they seriously need to step up the game. There were two other couples at the bar that too said they were not impressed. They passed comments to the bartenders about their food. When leaving they said that they would continue their search for a decent San Ramon restaurant(we all know we are in desperate need of some!) so I know I am not alone on our feelings. All in all– if you want amazing BBQ and cocktails — don’t go here and waste your money — make the trip to SAUCED in Livermore and you won’t be disappointed!

Visited this new restaurant with a party of six. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and the manager stopped by to say hi which was great. This restaurant has a family feel or ambiance and kid-friendly as well. Parking is great. Service-wise, our waiter, Mario was able to deliver the food as ordered except for the vegetarian soup. The food runner was able to correct the soup to remove the bacon bits(?) on top of the soup as I requested for a vegetarian soup initially. Unfortunately I came out of that lunch so confused when it should have been a happier occasion as we had family reunion. The confusion happened when the check came. We noticed 3 Cokes on the check when we did not order any soda. I gave my credit card back with the check back to Mario(as I was not able to snatch my card back prior to check correction as he immediately took the check folder) with the understanding that the cokes will be removed. When the credit slip was returned, the cokes were still present for some reason which generated the continuing confusion because of the inaccurate ‘corrected’ bill which unfortunately was run already on the credit card machine. I still could not understand what Mario was saying for some reason.(Yes, I know that i should have not given my card immediately but it was taken quickly). Anyway, when I came back from the rest room, there was another guy(perhaps the cashier ?) who said that he needed my card so that they can pend the other bill and re-run my card. There was a new bill with one Coke this time(perhaps a substitute for another drink). There was no mention of voiding the previous transaction for some reason(or perhaps it was just a terminology difference). I was losing my energy already at that point and said no. The cashier offered a gift card which I accepted but he retracted it immediately as the gift cards were not ready yet. He then said that they will just correct the bill internally to reflect the accurate amount which I am hoping and trusting that it would happen. Except for this unfortunate billing issue, I can say that the food is solid in this place. Hoping that they train their staff better in terms of billing. Moral Lesson: Check your bill carefully.

Worth Ranch is located directly across the street from Diablo Plaza. Its mainly a sit-down BBQ place but it also boasts a sports bar inside too with open kitchen. I came here for a quick take-out dinner to at least sample their offerings. Note that the funny thing is that after getting the takeout we didn’t eat for another 30 mins or so, since the wife really wanted to finish cleaning up the garage. So the food we had wasn’t at the ideal temperature(our fault). However, the food was still good and we definitely want to dine-in there at some point. Shrimp and Grits were excellent — creamy and smooth and well seasoned shrimp. It may be a bit light for a standalone entrée, so next time an appetizer or salad would be good. Brisket was just excellent — right amount of fat, slightly burnt edges for that smoky taste, and super tender meat. I liked how they placed sauce on the side! The corn bread I got was a bit dry(probably because it sat out). The Mac and Cheese was excellent! I normally don’t like super cheesy, gooey, rich versions but the one at Worth Ranch is worth trying! They use smaller mac pasta pieces and the cheese was milder to me — neither component overwhelming the other. Definitely recommend this place — a bit pricier than say Dickey’s but here the food(especially the brisket) is on another level.

Another Worth Winner!!! From the moment you walk into the Bonanza-Esque foyer to the minute you try the frozen lemonade and fried okra you know you’re home.
