I bought a dock from raise a dock a number of years ago. After the purchase The owner was less than pleasant. He agreed to install the dock, wanted full payment then was going to return in the fall to add the winch. I told him I wanted he winch now or would finish paying him when it’s installed. Well, I got a certified letter from him demanding full payment, with cashiers check before he would continue the job. I had no other choice but ceded to his blackmail. He responded by saying that a Saturday of his choosing was the only time he would show me how to function the dock. Otherwise I’m on my own. Don’t give him anymore business. Nasty man.

I bought a new aluminum docking system from Raise-A-Dock about 7 years ago to replace a wooden docking system I had that was rotting out. I wanted a system that was low maintenance and that I could raise myself without having a dozen friends over to get the dock out of the water. I am extremely happy with my purchase. The dock has had no issues over the years. I bought the electric wynch option and it takes very little time to get the dock up in the fall and back out in the winter. The dock I bought has composite decking that comes in/out in 3 – 4 piece sections for storage. It still looks brand new. When the sections are out, I hook a few cables up to the wynch, and that’s all that is needed. The only change I’ve made over the years is to install a couple of aluminum tabs under the sections where my dock whips are placed(to help secure those sections when the boat is on the dock) and I also put some aluminum tabs to label where each cable goes. Over the summer, I tend to forget which end of the cable goes where, and this makes it trivial to make sure they are in the right places. If you decide to purchase one of these aluminum docks, call early in your planning process. There is a lead time between when you decide to purchase the dock and when it can be scheduled for installation. It can be several months — this was also true for other docking companies I called when I was deciding on which to purchase. Raise-A-Dock also sells aluminum swim platforms. I bought one of these the following season to replace a PT swim platform that weighted a ton. The new one is light, low maintenance to take in and out, and I have had no issues with it since I purchased it.
