Hilton Garden Inn

Beautiful newly renovated hotel. Our room was very clean and big… until we had to move to another room due to water sprinklers going off on our floor. Our room was fine but the whole floor had to be blocked off for restoration.
They moved us to another room which was smaller but had a kind bed and was perfect!
Only Cons about the hotel besides the… no free or complimentary parking. Valet only at $ 23 a day No free or complimentary breakfast.
However the breakfast buffet was amazing! $ 13.95 pp Do it yourself waffle station with fresh fruit toppings, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, tons of juices and snacks, bagels, muffins, pancakes and omelets made to order! Was awesome… my server Bill was awesome!
The bar area is awesome and our bartender was super nice and welcoming. Happy hour was great… discounted vodka drinks and beers!
Staff overall was nice and accommodating

Checked in online. Was given a different room than the one I requested via the Hilton app. When I got to the room, it wasn’t cleaned/​ready. Back down stairs, the desk clerk told me the wrong room she gave me wasn’t ready because I had checked in on the app and changed my rooms. ??? She gave me the room I had changed to on the app and it was ready when I walked in. Go figure. ???
Several of the more tattooed employees of the hotel gave me very stern/​uncomfortable looks in the elevator and dining area for breakfast. Yikes. :/​
The hotel is close to the airport and absolutely nothing else within walking distance. There are no sidewalks for outdoor walking/​jogging and the street does not have many street lights.
There are a couple small ponds across the road where vagrants hang out, so I wouldn’t suggest exploring too much.
Overall — it’s your standard looking Hilton Garden Inn with the above strange exceptions. I wouldn’t choose to have my family stay here on personal time.

Very recently, a friend and her family of five had to race to Richmond to be with her son that is in critical condition at VCU Medical Center. There was a convention going on the following day and my friend was told that they would had to find other accommodations. While at the hospital the mother called the hotel and asked for a late check out and the hotel was nice enough — not — to give her an extra hour. When I alerted the hotel about the severity of their son’s condition and the family’s challenge of moving by noon, I was not given any sympathy or help. When I asked for the manager to meet me in the room to discuss, he refused.
This is not the type of customer service that I would assume any major hotel would provide. Think how you’d feel if you had a sick child and where in a strange city. So if you can, find different accommodations. The Marriot across the street was extremely accommodating and supportive.

Nice rooms. Great water pressure for the shower. Nice staff. Reasonable priced food at the restaurant and bar. Also reasonable priced alcohol. Easy access to get downtown. Would stay again.

Clean, efficient and friendly. Hard for hotel like this to score five stars. Usually top advantage is proximity and convenience to airport, which is true for this inn. However, i gave five stars for the people and added service.
Night clerk friendly and made two offers. Two complimentary bottles of water, and reimbursement for taxi cost from airport if my late arriving colleague missed the shuttle, which stopped running at 12:30.
Edward handled bar with aplomb on NASCAR weekend, which was a surprise event to my colleague and me in Richmond for a board of directors meeting.
Then Pauline at front desk shined the next morning. I was ill in morning and missed my flight. She extended stay for one night violating two night weekend minimum, if needed, without reservation even with a full NASCAR hotel. I was able to leave about 2:00 with her assurance no penalty would be charged. Thanks for the comfort when under the weather and away from home.
We travel to RIC every quarter. I stayed in three other area hotels, but now i have home away from home.

Rates are reasonable for the HGI chain. Rooms are comfortable and clean, basic HGI fare. I have stayed at the hotel 10+ times and have had no issues. Convenient to I-​64 and greater Richmond. DirecTV now provides the television service.

Travel thru Richmond a lot, first and last stay. Room 512 sounds like you are in a wind tunnel, no sleep. Called front desk no solution offered nor did he sound surprised. Not a happy customer, actually leaving three hours early for airport because I am sure it will be quieter there.

Incredibly warm front desk staff. Hilton Garden Inn wins my business with superb customer service and a very new renovated lobby.

The rooms was very clean and large. The staff is wonderful. I arrived early and my room wasn’t ready yet, so they switched me to a different room immediately, called to make sure the new room was ok, and gave great dinner recommendations. The breakfast includes a lot of choices, and the eating area is pleasant. The wifi can be a bit slow at busy times (particularly around 6 – 7 PM), but that’s my only complaint.
Easy access, lots of great restaurants close by. Pretty quiet for being right by airport and will be my standard for quick in and out stays to Richmond.

I came here for several days for both a wedding and also to stay during a family reunion this past week (11÷21−27). This place was recommended by the bride’s family and the reservation was made month’s in advance. I traveled all the way from the west coast, and by the time I got there, I had the start of a horrific migraine. I could barely sign the paperwork to sign in, and the Front Desk Clerk was extremely sympathetic and offered me a complimentary bottle of H2O, for me to take my migraine medication. (Off already to a good customer service start). The lobby and the room was extremely inviting. I was very tired and each night I slept a minimum of 9 hours, and some nights-​12 hours. That never happens at other hotels. (Kudos to this hotel). The rooms are nicely appointed and I like that they have free WiFi. The breakfast buffet was great, and I participated daily with that and it was reasonable. The only thing that I wish they’d do is lower the lighting in the restaurant in the evening/​afternoon during happy hour/​dinner, as it’s too bright and not conducive to relaxing. All in all, one of the best experiences I’ve encountered in my 38+ years of being in the travel industry and staying in hotels. All the staff were truly friendly and caring and this hotel was a great value.

Hotel was loud and the guests staying kept partying in the hallways and no one seemed to care. The parking is easy, rooms comfortable. I didn’t try the food but heard it was good from others.
I am not sure I would stay again due to the noise.

Quick one night stay but a pleasant one. The bed was very comfortable, DirectTV was cool, and the service from all on the staff that I encountered was great.
It was also great to have a restaurant open until 11 pm, as I arrived late and very hungry from a long west coast trip. Breakfast the next morning was also good.
Definitely recommend if you need to stay near the airport like I did.

Quick one night stay. This is a new well decorated and modern hotel. The location is so convenient seeing that I have a 7am flight out of here. The airport is just minutes away. The room is VERY well priced, with a comfy King bed, big TV an it’s very clean. I like regular hilton beds, this place has a sleep number bed and I don’t enjoy trying to guess my favorite setting. The girl at the front desk is amazing (Sunny — she brough a little sunshine into our stay). I will definitely stay here again. It’s all that one can ask for at this price.

I have stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn several time, generally for a night at a time, before flying out of Richmond.
The beds are comfortable enough. The rooms are clean and spacious. Overall, this hotel provides decent value for the price.
The fridge was loud — I had to unplug it. Other than that, the room was quiet, which is very important to me.
There are hundreds of TV channels available, including HBO, Movies, and more. This is nice when I’m just killing time or working before a morning flight.
I had the breakfast buffet on this visit. It was passable — eggs, french toast, and more is cooked to order. Bacon, sausage etc is available. Lots of fresh fruit. I wanted to have a bagel, but they had mold on them. Unfortunate. I didn’t take this is a reflection of the freshness of the entire buffet.
One weird thing — the lobby bar is very brightly lit. If you go there for a drink, it feels more like sitting in someone’s kitchen than sitting at a bar. They should do something to create an atmosphere. I’ve noticed this at other Hilton Garden Inn locations.
The location is very convenient to the airport. Given the short or nonexistent lines at security, I can leave my hotel an hour before the flight and have plenty of time to spare.

Check in guy was way to into his job but was an apparent idiot. Rooms were great and nice

I stayed here for 3 weeks in the fall, and can easily say this is the best hotel experience I have ever had. I was traveling for work, and it really was like coming home every night. The front desk staff was amazing.
The hotel was extremely clean. The gym was clean, spacious, and had offered a nice selection of equipment (for a hotel gym).
