Under new management and owners. I had the perch dinner yesterday, which was very good. Reasonable prices. They are even open for breakfast 3 days a week(Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I believe). TouchTune Juke Box; but occasionally have a band like last night which was«Tight Wadd». They have a pool table and darts also. So, it is still a good little neighborhood hangout, but NOT one of those ‘old soul’ places as it really comes to life!

After a long day riding roller coasters at Cedar Point, my friends and I decided to try some local Sandusky flavor before turning in. Sail In is exactly what we were looking for. They have your standard selection of bar food– cheese sticks, French fries, burgers, sandwiches– at fair prices as well as great daily specials. The night we went, their special was a cheeseburger, fries, and slaw for $ 5! Naturally, I took the deal and I did not regrets choice. The burger and fries hit the spot perfectly! They make their slaw in house and it’s pretty good but needed just a bit extra salt and pepper. On top of the good prices and food, the service was great! It appeared that our server was also the only employee there that night yet she took our drink and food orders promptly and our food came out quickly.

As the rest of the reviews are pretty old, let me set the record straight. I have heard from friends what the Sail In used to be: a friendly dive. Now, it is a rapey hell hole. I went in with my friends who were former Sandusky residents and Sail regulars. My friend was looking forward to seeing her favorite bartender, who we learned had sadly passed away last year. The bartender working on Saturday night was so intoxicated or high that his eyes were rolling in two different directions. I asked my male friend to get me a glass of water, and he was ignored. 20 minutes later, drunkie delivered a glass of water but I was afraid to drink it because I’ve already had a bad experience with a roofie colada. We ordered some fried pickles and the bartender was so messed up that he cooked them all into one gummy softball of picklebatter. So we’re sitting there minding our own business, and suddenly I smell a cloud of axe body spray. Another drunkard comes up to us, and I kid you not, presses his junk into my shoulder for support. And guess what? He works here too! He tells us all about the new management and how much money he makes on a Tuesday, meanwhile I keep trying to get his dick off my shoulder. Dickshoulder harassed us and insisted we come drink vodka at his house(because according to him, girls love vodka) a few more times before we decided we just had to go. Drunkie bartender had already started locking up and actually locked us in. We went to leave and the door wouldn’t open, and as he was slurring that he had to let us out, I said«that’s okay, the keys are in the door.» I turned the key and got the hell out of there. One of my friends wasn’t so lucky. He harassed her and accused us of not paying our tab, even though we left cash on the table. If this is the way they’re gonna do business, I hope they get shut down soon.

I really wanted to like Sail In after all of the positive reviews. We walked in and immediately walked out. There were tons of people smoking, seated at the bar in a tiny room. It was disgusting.

When I lived in Sandusky, Sail In was arguably my favorite bar. Cheap drinks, cheap ever for Sandusky, always-friendly staff and patrons, plenty of space, and incredible wings! If you’ve ever enjoyed a honey-mustard wing in your life, you must get them at Sail In. I’ve spent time living in Buffalo, but when I miss good wings I miss them from Sail In in good ol’ Sandusky, OH. They have dartboards but no darts, but are perfectly happy to let people with darts throw for free. The bar is mostly full of regulars, but unlike many bars where that’s the case, they’re extremely friendly to new faces. Anyone visiting or living in Sandusky, go enjoy this treat of a bar.

It’s Friday night at 12:45am in Sandusky, Ohio. You’ve spent all day at Cedar Point, and you are totally wore out. You just want some beer and to lay back and watch TV in your hotel room so you can rest peacefully and start over again tomorrow. All the gas stations are closed and you have little hope at fulfilling these reasonable desires. But wait! There’s a sign that says Sail In, it’s lit up, and I think that’s a Miller High Life sign in the window. Is that a kitchen behind the beer sign? There’s nobody in there, where am I? I hear music and drunk people, they’ve got to be around here somewhere. Around the corner, in the door, up the stairs, AHA! It’s smoky in here, but they have a pool table, a juke box, and a bar. I asked nicely if she could sell me some beer to carry out. It was no problem for $ 10 per six and I walked out very happy. My awaiting passengers, sitting in the car with their arms crossed, jumped for jubilation when they realized we would not be going to bed buzzless. It was a great ending to the night and I am glad we happened to stroll by this local dive bar. They really saved the day!

Small local bar that I use to go with my friends. The bartender was always nice and the food was decent. Most of the people there are regulars but they usually still are friendly. This place has one of the best long islands(ask for Debs long island it will make you fall off the bar stool) but other than that it’s nothing special. This is a good low key bar in a local area to get a quick drink.
