Marshland is a staple if you’re ever traveling down the Cape and passing Sandwich. You know a place is good when locals line up at the door before tourists are even awake in the morning. It’s cheap, it’s excellent, so whether you’re there early or late, it’s worth the wait. This is a traditional diner with booths along the wall and horsehoe shaped bar tables in the center where everyone can bump elbows and make friends with their neighbor — a charm you don’t often find anymore as more and more places add TVs. One of my favorite experiences at the bar was I was going to take a huge cheesey bite, I held up my fork to start catching the cheese drip, and it fell right off my fork. The diner across from me saw and we had a great laugh at the face I made. The food is excellent. They are famous for their stuffed quahog, I am not a fan of clams, but those I know who have had it says it’s bar none. They must season the grill with magic, because everything is flavorful and delicious — even the toast soaks up that grill goodness. Portions are huge, so expect to leave with a warm and full belly. Omelets are stuffed evenly and perfectly cooked, specialty pancake flavors are delicious with seasonal toppings, and both hashbrowns and homefries are seasoned well with a nice crunch. Breakfast is their A game, but they also serve up a satisfying lunch. If I’m not in the mood to have a 2nd breakfast, their Cape Cod Reuben(breaded haddock, slaw, russian dressing) is delicious and the fish is well cooked. Just make sure to eat it before the sandwich gets soggy from the dressing(same goes for the regular reuben– but if you’re ordering a reuben you probably knew this already).

My wife and I ordered the lobster saiad roll. It was huge with a lot of great french fries and cole slaw. Very enjoyable. We got the stuffed Quahog as well. It was very big and tasty. It wasn’t the greatest stuffie we ever had but it was very good. Different than the usual stuffing of bread crumbs.

We travel for a living, so, it has become quite customary to only eat somewhere when Unilocal tells us to. On a couple of lucky occasions, we have tried to go to one restaurant, only to find it closed, or unable to eat there for some reason. That’s what happened again today. We did the age old GPS to a place, and then realize it doesn’t open for lunch. So, I checked Unilocal again and we made our way here. I remembered this place had been on some sort of Foodtv show at one point, so another plus, perhaps. MAN, am I glad we changed our plans!!! This joint is small and very unassuming. It is super old school, with the cutest short diner style counter and little teensy bar stools. Waitresses were all attentive and friendly. We ordered the Irish Benny, the Ham and Mushroom Omelet, a side of biscuits and gravy, and our meals came with home fries. And by the way… HOMEFRIES!!! Holy moly! Those things were clearly sprinkled with some magic that makes you unable to stop eating them. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review about home fries. But, these… these were rock star potatoes! Every time we ate a bite, we each made these faces like, HOW??? HOWISTHISSOGOOD??? We are from the South, so we know sausage gravy. My guess is, someone who created that recipe was most definitely a Southerner. They knew what they were doing. The Omelet was not just your average omelet. I’m not sure what they did to make it so insanely delicious. I would never order and omelet at a restaurant. I just wouldn’t. I can make that at home. It is however, the BF’s go to order. This is the first time he has ever just put a bite on a fork and shoved it in my mouth. It was that good. Irish Eggs Benny was so good. Hash was fried to a crispy perfection, as was the English Muffin. The eggs were perfectly poached, nice and runny, and the hollandaise was delish! All in all, what a fantastic error in finding this one! Sooooo coming back here EVERY time we are in town!

It was okay. The good was good, and we liked what we ordered. The fish was fresh, and I recommend the baked scrod. I can’t complain, the food was very good. However, there were several things that made the experience just meh, one of them being the bakery. On the bottom shelf, there were about 3 items with mold on them. Some of the baked goods just looked old. Our server was good, but she made a small mistake with our order. Other than that, it was an okay dinner.

Busy place but we got seated right away. Lobster roll was amazing as well as the desserts. The chocolate strawberry cream cheese brownie was really decadent!

I Love this place so much that I went three days in a row. The lobster bisque was outsatnding with huge chunks of Lobster! The Quahog was so delicious and different and overflowing the clamshell. The Strawberry Shortcake was out of this world with a huge homemade biscuit that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside so it absorbed all the juice the only thing I didn’t care for where the onion rings the waitresses were funny and nice and efficient

Me and my boyfriend ordered a grilled cheese and a rueben here. It took a very long time to get it. The grilled cheese was really boring. My fault, I should have asked. They only put white American cheese on it. No flavor. The rueben was good though.

This place is rated to have the 3rd best clam chowder in Cape Cod. I called 5 min after they closed. They were awesome and packed me a cup to go. It was the best I’ve had! I also noticed that they have a good selection of beer and wine. It’s unexpected for this diner type atmosphere. The rhubarb pie looked good too.

We went on a very busy Sunday with a line out the door. Good sign. The young host was great at his job by being very sweet and polite and apologizing for not being able to predict the length of time before we’d be seated. There were four of us in our party and we all ordered breakfast. I can’t remember the last time I’ve enjoyed a breakfast like that one. I had the Linguisa and eggs with thick cut sourdough toast. What’s not to love? They get props for already having Tabasco on the table. Our service was excellent but we were too busy stuffing our faces to notice much of anything else. Thanks to the cook for cooking my Linguisa with a nice crispy crust. They seem to care about quality. You can’t go wrong at this little place.

I will dream of the stuffed quahog for the rest of my life. Made with a genius concoction of ritz crackers, spice and Magic. Lobster roll was tasty with big hunks and fish and chips was also meaty and good. But the quahog was the winner of the day. I will endeavor to recreate it with no luck but can’t hurt to try. Simple glass of Pinot Grigio and a mediocre apple crisp with ice cream.

This is a classic, good diner. It is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I have my favorite dishes. The waitresses are good at what they do. Usually you can strike up a conversation with other customers. A great place for townies and tourists! The bakery on the side has delicious muffins and cookies.

Late breakfast or brunch — Good food, nothing too fancy, just solid stuff that sticks to your ribs. The raspberry butter on the Belgian waffle is yummy. Eggs are served nice and hot. Be prepared for a wait if you arrive at a popular time, but the turnover at booths is usually pretty reasonable. Better strategy for three or fewer people might be to sit at the counters.

We came here on Father’s Day. It started off with a long wait, then we sat down and two out of the four of us got silverware. I had to get up twice after waiting a long time to get the appropriate silverware myself. We asked for milk not cream for the coffee. Half of a small glass was brought to a table of 4 people. We requested more milk which my sister ended up having to get herself after waiting a long time. My coffee at this point was luke warm and it tasted like it had been sitting on the element for days. Then the food comes. The fries tasted like shrimp and my dad has a seafood allergy. The waitress confirmed that the fries were cooked in the same oil they cooked seafood in for other customers. My mother’s food was cold. The food was mediocre, service was poor and we won’t be going back anytime soon.

Marshland used to be a Sandwich, MA destination. Nowadays, it seems to be riding on reputation more than anything else. Ever since Duff went on «Best thing I ever ate» and praised Marshland’s stuffed quahog, it seems like the brand has gone all-out commercial– multiple locations, new shirts that say«I got Stuffed at Marshland» and all other shenanigans have gotten in the way of what used to be good food. When I think of Marshland, I think of Thursday and Sunday night roast turkey dinner served year round, sitting in a booth across the way from my parents. That is the what Marshland is best for– comfort food and family. Marshland has taken a slight decrease in quality in recent years, but hopefully they find their bearing soon.

Always good! The stuffed quahog is amazing and big enough to be a meal for only $ 4! I love that they bring muffins as the bread, and their house dressing is really good. Sounds weird, but the sour cream cookie is amazing!

Super simple open minimalist setup, friendly staff, cheap prices, meh food. Got the stuffed quahog, Hawaiian(grilled chicken with pineapple and provolone) and French Onion soup. Quahog was flavorless biscuit crumbs with bits of clam. No spice, no texture, very unexciting. I later find out this is some kind of local legend… What? Hawaiian was good, fresh and cooked well, it really cried out for some kind of sauce as it was dry by design, but none was offered and I decided against bothering. French onion soup, like any poor French onion soup tasted like salt water. It had a nice cover of a decent bread and browned mozzarella, but once you got into the heart of it was a total waste, we didn’t bother. Two star food, gains a star because the staff was friendly and the prices are cheap(our total bill was $ 28) but expect to get what you pay for.
