Brewster’s

Excited for our first night out on vacation … we went out for dinner … TACO NIGHT. As I scanned the clogged door area for a hostess, I saw the owner… I asked «Do we choose an open table? Or wait»? His «abrupt» response was …“NO .you don’t just sit where you want, you sit there «I chalked it up to «maybe just having a bad day» … far from welcoming or happy to see business.
We ordered an enchilada & chicken sandwich.
… at the 1 HOUR mark … I inquired about our meal … the frazzled waitress said she would check. (I WATCHED HER … she never went to the kitchen) At the 1 HOUR & 10 MINUTE mark a table of four received their meals and they had only been sitting 12 to 15 minutes and saw the look on my face and the ladies at the table said «Yeah, we know … it’s awful – and it’s who you know if you want good service».
My 16 year old decided it was time to leave. We waited 10 more minutes. We got up from our table and I kindly handed the waitress. .(that never checked on the food) … a $ 20 bill to cover a soda and 2 glasses of wine and left. In a sea of annoyed tables, waiting for TACOS… ««««not steaks, chicken, veal or seafood»»» … PRE-​MADE, BROWNED BURGER … SCOOPED IN A SHELL …
A few days later I was informed by one of their employees that was upset by the occurrence and brought it up in a staff meeting …“they don’t care».
Since then I have enjoyed the Wig Wam, The Altmar Hotel and Tailwater … don’t waste your time or money here. The community opinion is that this is a bar that’s just a hobby for people that just want to drink and party. … and that the owner is inebriated more than less of the time.
It’s also not ‘rocket science’ in the food industry, that the nicer you are to customers, the better your tip will be and also, returned business. They have a lot of room for IMPROVEMENT.

I still love everything about Brewster’s! The combination of the food and the staff is what keeps people coming back year after year.

Friendliest place in NY. Wish there was a place like this near my house. Bartender knows everyone by name and offers The Usual or a special. Good food. Great people.
