Lefont Theaters

I would stay away from this theater.
I have visited many times only to have insects nipping at my heels. The theatre is woefully outdated and in need of renovation yet charges more than other theatres, catering to an older crowd that doesn’t know the difference in up-​to-​date projection systems.
Besides that, all phone and wifi is blocked preventing anyone from reaching me in an emergency.
The sign outside says «no food or drink» I brought some expensive electronics purchased before I came that I didn’t want to leave in the car in their parking lot which based on signs present of not leaving valuables, indicates they have hAd incidents. I was stopped by a rude manager Willie Hall who didn’t even exam by bag and refused me entrance. I asked for my money back. Who needs the hassle?

Let’s face it, this isn’t a luxury theater and if that’s what you want, move along. Sticky floors, standard seats, expensive snacks, all the usual stuff.
Why I gave it four stars is that it is rarely overflowing and noisy. Even when it has been busy, it hasn’t really felt like it is busy. That’s why I like it. I’m never in the mood to contend with teenagers and over done lighting. This is a place to go watch a movie and enjoy it. It’s that simple.

Give me a good indie or art-​house cinema any time, any day. Lefont has been around forever and a day. I won’t tell you how long ago my friends and I dressed up to go attend a James Bond premier at this location. Now, the place is slightly dated. A little musty. But they show the good stuff here. Some screenings of older classics. There is (happily) no shortage of newer, independent productions. I was recently able to catch all the Oscar-​nominated shorts there.
Lefont has an enthusiastic staff, and a full complement of concessions, including beer & wine. Some of the chairs have been updated to the comfy reclining-​chair variety. But some of the theaters have you packed in tight environs. Ticket prices seem high, but parking is easy, and there are plenty of places nearby to go for some food & drink when your film is finished, and you want to process it with your friends. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Cute little theatre. Lots of independent films. Seats are not the comfy kind that recline, but they are still comfy enough. I usually go here on a weekend since you can’t get a seat at an amc theatre in a weekend without buying tics in advance. This place is never overly packed which i like. Staff is nice too.

I used to go to this theater fairly often and like that they show movies that never get air time in other theaters. However, tonight I tried to go to a movie there and was told that the credit card machine was down and did I have cash. I had $ 10 in cash and they refused to take it. I spoke with the manager and he told me he wasn’t there to make a deal with me so if I don’t have the money, I need to leave. So I left and will never return. I hope it is worth it to them for $ 1.50. Not to mention that $ 10 is the price of a matinée there so I would have thought they would have taken it and just moved on. Oh well, Tara Cinema it is from now on.

I was there for a special showing of a limited release film. The owner came out before the film and spoke, which really made the experience feel extra special. Everyone is very friendly and they have a great selection of films.

At Landmark, you can find new international and art films that are not shown elsewhere. There selection is similar to midtown arts but most of the films you can find here are new international and arts films. There selection isn’t quite as wide and varied as midtown but it definitely shows a wider variety of quality films than other theaters nearby. Their food selection and cleanliness could be improved to match their film selection quality.

This theater is conveniently located, although it may be difficult for some to find. (The sign is very small and on the ground if coming from Roswell Road. We thought we had missed it in the shopping center somewhere, when it is actually on the backside). The seats were not very comfortable; we usually go to the Regal Perimeter or Merchant’s Walk theaters where they have the big comfy chairs that recline). My husband and I went for a matinée on a Thursday. It seemed a bit expensive for a matinée ($ 10 per ticket), but it was not very busy.

This is one of my favorite movie theaters because of its old school ambiance and it’s selection of artistic and mainstream movies. The only time I am ever frustrated is when they show movies like The Hunger Games and The Hobbit as these offerings draw in lots of individuals and teens who would otherwise not frequent this establishment but I understand that they must make money whenever they can in order to continue to play the obscure independent films that I love so much. The typical clientele consists mainly of affluent individuals in their 50s which I thoroughly enjoy as this keeps out unruly children and others who see this place as their parents movie theater which is fine by me. It may not be as nice as Phipps or other recently renovated theaters but I think that is part of the allure that keeps me coming back to this hidden gem in suburbia.

With Hulu And Netflix in my life, I’ve neglected the traditional movie watching experience in the theatre. But now that I’ve found Lefont, I’m coming around. There’s a good selection of independent movies at reasonable prices. I recently checked out The Chef and Third Person. Parking is easy, and it’s not typically crowded so stadium seating is not as important. The theatre is fairly clean but given the age of the space, a facelift and a bit more attention to the theatres and bathroom will go a long way. Got the munchies? There’s a concession stand with beer and wine. Popcorn for $ 4.50 is hard to find these days and you can even add your own butter — That’s a plus, I think! No one’s going to take your food order from your seat, but back to basics is good for me. I’m there for the show.

Very very disappointed. Drove 25 Minutes and hit traffic. We’re told we can’t buy tickets 15 minutes after the movie has started. We were twenty minutes late and spent ten minutes waiting for the manager. Bad business in my opinion.

After giving La Font theaters the benefit of the doubt after our first visit where we had to leave our seats and ask employees to START the movie 15 minutes after its start time… We went to see American Hustle where after 5 minutes the entire screen went black. After a 15 – 20 min lull of nothing but a black screen, the movie was restarted. Then, after 20 minutes the movie went black again. After another 15 – 20 minute lull the movie was started again 20 minutes prior to where the movie had actually gone black. This happened 4 times which means we saw the same part of the movie repeatedly.
At this point in time, everyone in the theatre left and we were asking for the manager. The manager was extremely rude, and refused to work with any of us. (At this point in time we had already wasted an hour and a half of our afternoon) He finally offered us «vouchers»…not even our money back which we all refused to accept as none of us ever wanted to go back. He then reluctantly gave us out money back and that was it. He would also not refund the food and drink items which we had bought to consume during the MOVIE which we never saw.
Worst experience at a movie theatre I have ever experienced and or have ever even heard of.

Saw about time tonight, fun great movie! Enjoyed!
The Good– ticket price, popcorn and candy were fine. Ticket taker inside took my tickets even though my mom wasn’t there right then, some places your whole group has to be their, I’d say friendly tonight. Older crowds go to this theater!
The not so good– you can’t pre buy/​order your tickets and I don’t think there’s stadium seating. I know this is an older theater this why.
Tip– show up early to buy tickets, food, and to get a good seat!

I love the LeFont. They always have the best selection of blockbusters and artsy, independent films. The LeFont Film Society has been putting on some wonderful screenings of older movies that you always wish you could have seen on the big screen. We saw «To Kill a Mockingbird» a few months ago (with banana pudding afterwards in the lobby!) and recently, they showed «Casablanca».
If you enjoy watching movies without unchaperoned teens providing a soundtrack, this might be your spot. It is usually frequented by the 30-​somethings and older crowd which is a big selling point for me. Another important feature– booze! Yes, the LeFont sells beer and wine at concessions. Wheeee! Viva LeFont!

I hope I don’t jinx this place… If you are looking for a non ghetto movie experience, this is your spot.

I like that they show independent films but the clientele is mainly seniors and the theatre screams 80’s. I like that they show independent films but I don’t like the décor. the service is average movie theatre employees.

I love this small theater because of the independent films it shows and the fact they serve beer and wine at reasonable prices. I was here last night and I will have to say that they definitely have some personnel issues to overcome with the young people at the ticket window and concession stand. I’m gonna withhold judgement and see if it were just an off night because I’ve never had an issue before. Maybe it’s just that awkward teenagers work at movie theater… I don’t know.
Overall a great little theater with a good movie selection.

I’ve been to see a few movies here in the 18 months that we’ve been living in the area. Not only do they have some of the blockbusters, they’ve also got some of the smaller films (like the Millenium Triology with subtitles). Since it’s part of a smaller network of theaters, they have more choices when it comes to concessions. Tickets are slightly cheaper as well. Since it’s on the back side of the shopping center, off of Roswell Road, it’s never been crowded when I’ve been there. And since it’s not that crowded, it doesn’t matter that they don’t have stadium seating.
The main drawback for me is that I’ve been buying all my movie tickets using Fandango coupons purchased through deal sites, and they don’t do online ticketing through Fandango. When you’ve got to get a babysitter in order to go to the movies, every little dollar helps. But then again, when you’re a smaller cinema with more variety, the same applies.

I appreciate their «independence», but this theater needs to get it together to survive. We went their to see Thor last night (a seemingly too commercial feature for the tastes of this theater) but what the heck lets see it at Lefont and support the little guy.
The film is shown in 3D and this theater is equipped with a new 3D projector. The 3D projector must be a left over from 1950 as it didn’t work properly. The film was blurry and most people were juggling taking off the glasses throughout the film.
We complained to theater employees and were told «yeah, it is new and we are still tweaking it». Huh? At $ 13.50 to see the movie, this independent sure charges what the big boys do and delivers a lot less.
In reality we should have left and demanded our money back, but I really just wasn’t in the mood for a fight.
Additionally, the theater was filthy and worn and the garbage of cups and popcorn was not removed from the previous show.

All I have to say is that I love this place! I found it when I went online to find a place to watch the Black Swan that was a half way point to meet up with my friend, and I am so glad I found this gem.
It is a total art house theater which has that old school movie theater feel which I miss so much… gives it more of a community feel when you are watching films. Anyway It is hidden away behind the strip mall that is behind Whole Foods. The location is great as it is right off of 285 and very close to 400. I actually thought I had to go inside the perimeter to see any art house film… I am so glad I don’t have to go so far!
The place is very clean (lobby, theater, and bathrooms were spotless) and they have student ticket prices ($ 8.50), which I took advantage of. Another thing that makes this place absolutely priceless is that it is the only movie theater that I know of that serves alcohol at very decent prices, might I add ($ 4.75)!! Their selection was composed of Corona, Bud Light, Heineken, and New Castle to name a few. They also serve wine as well as your normal movie theater concession foods.
The theater itself was great, I had no problem seeing the screen given my short stature due to its incline. The screen itself was spotless and there were not hiccups during the film at all.
All in all I love this place and I look forward to watching another film here while enjoying a New Castle! This one gets 5 shiny red stars!
