I am have been a customer of Shanghai Alterations for well over 20 years. This is one of those wonderful little gems in Atlanta that make our city so special. I truly adore Emily and they entire amazing staff. They are truly the only place in town that I would bring with my new high end clothing purchases. They will be upfront, kind and honest with you about your choices and alter them appropriately and with good taste and judgement. They are also great for specialty work like embroidery. We are fortunate to have this quality tailor.

I had less than a week to get a wedding dress and have it altered, and the staff at Shanghai took care of all my required alterations within four days! They were even closing that week for vacation and managed to complete my dress on time. The dress fit great, and I’m so grateful for their expertise and kindness!

This has been my go to tailor for 30 years. I would never take my things anywhere else. They are the most honest people I’ve ever met. There is very little they can’t do, re weaving, repairing and altering almost anything. Love these people. My children have grown up with them! You’ll have to look near & far to find workmanship this good…

Great find. Moved to the East Cobb area a few years back from many years in Miami. Had to go through the chore of finding all new service providers. Found Shanghai on the drive to work in Sandy Springs. Tried them out. So happy I did. Have had them hem dresses, pants, skirts, adjust armholes and take in pants. Great service, reasonable prices, friendly staff and quality work. Payment is after services are rendered. I highly recommend them.

Do not go here if you car about your clothes! I brought in a 2000 dollar suit to have altered and honestly it looked like a 5yr old stitched it up. My jacket was taken too far in and pants too short. So guess what? I can’t return the items and Emily the owner refused to give me my money back. She argued with me saying how that’s the way the suit fits me and it’s not their fault. To add insult to injury she and her staff cursed me out in Chinese. Bad for her that I studied Chinese and understood everything. I should’ve ran when I saw an earlier customer arguing with them when I went there the first time to get measured. Trust me go anywhere else and you will be much better off

WoW! The hemline was remarkable! doublestitched it was flawless. they pulled up the shoulders the fit on her was great. I can’t say enough about how pleased i was. I will say a bit on the high side of $ 79 but when you have a $ 338 dress you want the best and that is what i got. I would and WILL use them again.

I wouldn’t go anywhere else — they do amazing work. They are honest about what needs to be done to make it fit right for you (best length, where to tuck in, where to let out) and about whether it is worth it to have it altered in the first place. They did my wedding dress alterations (and actually made my friend’s wedding dress which was AMAZING out of peices of her mom’s wedding dress — so cool), hem all my jeans (they look flawless), and when I had them replace the worn out satin lining of my winter wool/​cashmere overcoat, they even resewed the brand label back in – it looked brand new!
You can pay less, but I wouldn’t trust the clothes I love to anywhere else.

I got my suit jacket tailored here. They did an expert job! I got it back and was very impressed with the beautiful craftsmanship and seamless, invisible work. The service was excellent as well. I felt they paid a lot of attention to pinning, fit, and style on my body type before going through with the work.
They are a local business that has been in operation for 30 years in Sandy Springs. Prices aren’t cheap, however, and are more expensive than other tailors. With the clothes that are being made these days, it might cost you $ 40 to alter a $ 20 dress. However, it’s worth it for the quality work.

I love shanghai. I go to shanghai for practically all my alteration needs. Emily, the owner is so good at what she does. She makes beautiful custom pillows, tons of quality in her work. Some of her prices are pricy. But she is well worth it.

premier alterations and monograms. emily the owner will pin everything according to the best fit for you. she keeps up with trends in lengths. if asked, she will tell you if the garment is worth keeping or having altered. she replaces jean trim on the bottoms of your jeans if they are special. does beautiful monograming. can do hebrew monograming. price is appropriate for such high quality work.
