Took my family there based on Unilocal reviews. Waited an hour for our food(i realize it is new years day and busy). Told the manager that the food was cold and bland. She then proceedes to tell me that she will take off the two cold dishes off the check as we did not intend to eat there after one bite. The dispute then turned into the lady telling my wife and I that we should not go out to eat on New Years. Dirty plates, poor service, terribe and bland food. Wont be back there again.

Wish I could give it 3.5 stars, but I don’t think it is quite 4 stars. The orange chicken was delicious. Probably one of my favorites in the area. The chicken curry is Not typical curry dish. It is little things of chicken in a stew like mixture with curry powder. I could literally make the exact thing at home using my curry powder that I have. I will never for any reason order it again. The pot stickers were good with a nice tender crisp. The egg roll was a decent egg roll. I ordered on a Saturday night which was apparently a huge mistake because they told me 40 minutes and my husband ended up waiting at the restaurant for an extra 20 minutes. So an hour for take out… That’s just not right. Or worth it. If you love orange chicken, get it. You won’t be disappointed by that at least.

This place is a must whenever I’m home. My family always orders this when they know I’ll be in town. We love their Family Dinner combo options. Beef with Green Beans is one of my favorites as well as the Happy Family. I am always sure to get some Hot and Sour soup with my order. This is my comfort food and take out favorite.

Tried the Beef and Green Bean. Wonderful! Also, the Happy Family. My new favorites! This won’t post unless I add more…

Five stars for food quality and speed of service. Some of the best Chinese in Salt Lake that I have found. Orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp knock it out of the park. The orange chicken even has fin slices of orange rind making it perfectly flavorful and the breading is not heavy. The honey walnut shrimp is simply to die for. Eat shrimp is perfect and melts in your mouth with just the right amount of chew to it. This place has never disappointed.

These guys consistently deliver delicious food. I order about once week and will continue to do so. Great dinner option.

We have ordered take-out from here many times and they’ve never messed up any part of our order, even when we substitute things in the dinner combos. These days, if you arrive home with your take-out and everything you ordered is perfectly in the bag, it’s a cause for celebration! We’ve tried several of the chicken dishes and the General Tso’s has got to be the best! I’m a huge fan of sweet n’ sour chicken and this place is my favorite so far. There are always green peppers, onions, carrots, and chunks of pineapple to accompany the sweet n’ sour. We usually order dinner combos with our entrees, and they are very nice to let you do substitutions. The dinner combo comes with lots of stuff including egg rolls, my spouse likes them but I substitute mine for cream cheese wontons which are amazing! I’ve come to this place for lunch several times to dine in as well, I’ve always received great service and just love the small business feel. They genuinely seem to care and appreciate their customers. Great place to dine in for dinner or lunch; its a very peaceful, quiet, and clean place with calming/dim lighting.

Just moved in to the area and have tried a couple other Chinese places for takeout. This has by far been the best one so far. Their orange beef, general chicken, happy family l, and green bean with beef were all really good. Service was quick food was ready when they said it would be.

We live close by so we order take out about once a week from here. The food is pretty good. Chicken and string beans, General Taos chicken, and sesame chicken are our favorites. The Wantons are also awesome. Very consistent from a night to night basis.

I’ve only tried the seafood delight and it was so salty. I would prefer the one from red maple in taylorsville. I’m willing to try more things from them but the three stars is for the slight mistake in customer service. As I was handing my card to the lady, a customer comes up and tells her that their table had a spill and asked if there was any extra napkins for them to clean it up. Instead of taking the 5 seconds to swipe my card and giving me the receipt so I can be on my way, she tells me to hold on and leaves me to go clean up the spill. I was slighty upset and irritated by that. The lady should have finished my transaction first then helped the other customers. Not the best customer service.

I am a faithful weekly customer here because the food is always reliably delicious and fresh, and the prices for lunch combos are such a great deal. They even let you order lunch combos on Saturdays, which not all restaurants let you do. Huge plus in my book. The owners are fabulous and attentive. They get to know you quick when you become a repeating customer, and I have a feeling they have no shortage of those. My menu favorites are the orange beef(heavenly!), walnut shrimp, orange chicken, general tao’s chicken, sesame beef, and lemon chicken(the lemon sauce is to die for. so good!). Come here!

When the owner knows you and your order by memory and its not even an on the menu item, you know the service is good. Plus their broccoli is heaven in your mouth.

I have been addicted to this place ever since discovering it! I love the dinner combos and the variety — soup, pot stickers, egg roll, fried shrimp, fried rice, and entrée for around 10 bucks! Always enough food that I have leftovers. Only thing I haven’t enjoyed was the hot and sour soup(which I usually love). But that’s ok because the egg drop is delicious!

Pretty standard family style Chinese restaurant. Food is pretty good and quality across the board, but nothing is really memorable. I recommend the hot and sour soup which is heartier than others in the area and their lo mein which is happily not a greasy mess! Service could be better. The boy who served us had an attitude like he’d rather be any where else. He never smiled. We heard him argue with another patron. The girl at the counter was really pleasant and talked with everyone. They should switch duties.

CHINESEGETINMYBELLY For what it is, this place rocks! Stuff your face lunch combos for under $ 10? You betcha. Honestly, I’d pay more for this quality of food. I went in for lunch yesterday by myself and was immediately greeted and seated by friendly waitstaff. My server was more than willing to accommodate my request for shrimp with vegetables, and my egg drop soup came out quickly after I placed my order. I could see how the egg drop soup might have an unappealing consistency for the average American palate, but I found it to be quite tasty. Next time I’ll try the hot & sour. In the same respect, I loved the sweet and creamy dressing that came on my salad, but I could see how some might find the flavour off putting. My bento box also came with two deep fried gyoza and an egg roll. I have yet to find a better egg roll in Utah. The shrimp and veggies came in a typical and tasty chinese brown sauce. Instead of canned mushrooms, fresh ones were used! Gasp! Loved it. The fresh watermelon was a fabulous touch to top off my lunch. Well done Mandarin Garden!!! Don’t forget to tip your server. If you can afford $ 8 for sit down lunch, you can afford to tip the waitstaff an extra $ 5.

Ma and pa. Their son used to ride his bike back and forth on the sidewalk in front of their shop. This place is a very good example of Americanized Chinese food. Quality ingredients, good portions and fast/friendly service. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced. Consistent. I used to work next door and went there often. It’s not worth a drive across the valley but if you like Panda, you’ll love Mandarin Garden! There have been a lot of owners over the years. My guess is these people are here to stay!

After a few more visits, I discovered some more fascinating dishes. I really like their Pot Sticker, the flour skins were handmade at the right thickness, and the ingredients inside gives a very nice balanced flavour. The owners have root from northern China, which is a region with many pot stickers and dumplings traditions. You may have to call in first, but certain days of the week, they can serve a dish of sole fish fillet in a special sauce, which is a tasty cooked fish dish. The dishes with string beans and tofu are still among my top choices. This is still a very convenience location for Chinese food if you live around this neighbourhood.
