Good food, crappy attitude. I was sent a coupon by email for BOGO for Super Bowl Sunday. My boyfriend was babysitting our 4-month old grandson so I decided to use the coupon to get us dinner to go. We ordered the Parmesan crusted halibut with linguine. I drove the 10 miles to the restaurant, and when I presented the coupon, I was immediately treated rudely and informed it was not allowed on takeout orders. I had previously read the coupon carefully and no such restriction was listed. I politely asked to speak to the manager after which she continued to argue with me about the same invalid argument. Once I informed them they either honor the coupon or I would leave without anything because I couldn’t afford to pay full price, they very begrudgingly agreed. I paid $ 25 for the 2 meals, after which they took one out of the sack and preceded to divide it into 2 smaller to go boxes. They took the other meal out and kept it. I am still in shock. I left the restaurant before things escalated. I will dispute the charge with my credit card, and will never go to McGrath’s in Sandy again. The small amount of food my boyfriend and I shared was delicious, but nobody should ever again have to go through what I did. McGrath’s gets my lowest rating because of their snarky treatment of customers.

Excellent service, with delicious food. Try the Halibut and prawns, fish n chips its the best. I also loved there Halibut Parmesean too, pear bleu cheese walnut salad and baked potato. Yummy Would be extra sweet dinner if they added some different side options like Garlic Mahed Potatoes would be so good with the Halibut Parm.

I go here often with my boyfriend when we’re around the area or doing some shopping at South Towne mall and we also went here on Valentine’s Day. I’ve tried several different things here and just recently decided to try the oyster appetizer. Let me tell you, amazing. Do try it if you love that kind of thing. I did try the shrimp cocktail in the past and I didn’t like that at all. The shrimp were incredibly tiny and it just didn’t taste very good as much as it was just nice to look at. Aside from that, I’ve had the steak and lobster and my favorite items to try are usually the suggestion for the day. The steak was supposed to be medium rare but it was cooked on one side more than the other and going towards the center, it was almost raw. I didn’t feel like complaining so I just didn’t eat it. My boyfriend got the swordfish and loved it. I’ve also tried their mahi and Dover sole as well as their ahi tuna which were all really tasty but the crusted Dover sole was heavy heavy on the crust. They give you a choice of salad and dressing and then the side that you want with your main dish. The choices are potatoes, rice, penne and fries, I believe. Which are all pretty good, as well. I’ve never had bad service here but sometimes it can be hard to flag someone down for a refill on drinks. I don’t blame them since they’re usually busy when I go, though. I’ll be returning often.

I needed a seafood fix other than sushi. It was new years day, so Market Street was closed. McGrath’s, Red Lobster and Joe’s were our options. We ventured over to McGrath’s because it’s «nicer.» Who knows. The restaurant is fine. It has your typical chain seafood restaurant decorations, fishing nets hanging from the ceiling, old small fishing boats nailed to the wall, prostitutes looking for sailors… you get the idea. We got the crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. I enjoyed these. However, my entre of the pan fried oysters were not as good. My fault, I ordered the wrong thing I guess. It was like a plate of bread crumb pretty much. Everyone else seemed content with their entrees. Service was fine. I’m sure the waitress didn’t enjoy working new years day, but she put the best face on that she could. One complaint is that they have signage on their tables that say add a shot of whiskey for one dollar to any cocktail. The waitress said that signage comes from corporate, but they can’t honor that deal in Utah because cocktails can only have one shot. So we asked if someone else at the table could have the dollar shot instead and she laughed uncomfortably and walked away. I understand laws in Utah differ from other states, but in that case corporate should provide different table signage, or the local managers shouldn’t put them on the tables. That’s false advertising and I’m certain that if someone wanted to be a stickler they can complain and get a fine levied. I won’t do that though. Instead I’ll just post here. A pretty mediocre experience otherwise. I’ll order more intelligently next time.

Meh. It was acceptable, with nothing actually *bad* about it, but just boring. Service wasn’t terrible, but there were times we sat around wishing for a drink refill. And of course, being Utah, the drink selections are limited. I wouldn’t say to avoid it, but I wouldn’t seek this out either. If it’s convenient, it’s an acceptable meal.

The oyster shooters were inexpensive but had a dollop of horse radish on top of the cocktail sauce… Cocktail cause is like 1⁄3 horse radish as is, not my fav. However I doctored them up the way I like them. Usually add a lot more lemon juice so they slide out of the glass easier. The food was pretty good and the server was attentive. Drinks were cheaper than I would have imagined.

Full disclosure: I don’t eat seafood. So, feel free to completely disregard my review if that’s what you’re looking for. I don’t have high expectations for non-seafood dishes at seafood restaurants, because that’s not what they specialize in. But, even still, McGrath’s disappointed pretty majorly for my main dish. First, the good. The sesame chicken tenders appetizer was top notch. Really delicious batter and wonderfully fried with a very tasty honey mustard. The loaded baked potato was also terrific with a dark, crisp skin that had great flavor. But, the bad. A fellow diner and I both ordered the Maui Chicken which is described as: «Wood Fired Chicken Breasts brushed with a House Made Teriyaki Sauce and served with Grilled Pineapple.» Well, I guess technically what I got was those ingredients, but it did not meet expectations. I didn’t get a chicken breast, I got sliced chicken strips, which was weird. And«brushed…with sauce» implies you brush it before or during grilling — nope, it was drenched in thick teriyaki sauce which had clearly been poured on after plating, with even more sauce served on the side. I cannot stress enough how much I love sauce and this was too much sauce even for me. And last, the grilled pineapple was not, as I imagined, a round slice of pineapple grilled. Instead, it was chunked pineapple from a can that had been dumped on the grill briefly. If I went back, I’d get a chicken tenders plate for my dinner and call it a day.

The Bay City Salmon was cooked perfect. A relaxing place to go for dinner. Recommend the jumbo shrimp cocktail. Unique sauce was a house made one with a little bite to it. Wild Ono from Hawaii, delicious!

Well I think I earned the right to this review considering I enjoyed a three course meal. Popped into this restaurant for a meal while on travel this week. Wasn’t greeted right away but that want a big deal. I sat in the bar area where I found myself rather comfortable. Ordered oysters as an appetizer, a ceasar salad, and a seafood linguine. All were great. Shrimp and scallops in my main dish were a little on the small side, begs to question if thru are farm raised or even USA fresh. But otherwise everything was pretty good. Service was great. Polite and right on time. Overall I’m happy with my visit.
