Best onion rings in Utah. Their sandwiches are over stuffed with meat, the hot combo being our fav. Courteous staff. Generous portions.

This place should be embarrassed to associate itself with Philadelphia. The only way I’ll be remembering it is as one of worst food experiences of my life. Four of us came in an ordered sandwiches with the restaurant 1⁄3 full. It took FORTY minutes for our food to come out. As we waited we heard many angry customers complaining about messed up orders. Forgotten fries and forgotten sandwiches. We were so excited when we finally got our food but the excitement was short lived. The sandwhiches were awful. Dry bread, dry meat, meat was not chopped, barely any cheese, not a hint of flavor. All the sides were fried in old smelly oil. The batter on the mushrooms and onions rings was both thick and mushy. It made them inedible. The fried Mac and cheese bites tasted like something you’d find in the discount freezer section at Walmart. On top of that this place is FILTHY. Our table had a layer of grease on it. The bathrooms were dirty with trash all over the floor and overflowing waste bins. No soap in the bathroom(so unsanitary). While we waited for 40 minutes for our food not one table was cleaned up or wiped down. I have no idea how this place hasn’t been shut down by the health department. I’ll never be stepping foot in here again.

They say the hole in the walls are the best! This is a great hole in the wall… Great sandwiches with lots of meat. I usually do take out, but yes calling in is best… sometimes they forget when you call and leave you on hold. so that doesn’t always work. The line is huge at lunch. I try going early if i do.

What can I say? This place is one of a kind. Nowhere else can you feel like they need to set the building on fire and start over(not the cleanest and nicest building you’ve ever seen), but still go for the food. I really dig the traditional«Philadelphian» as it covers all needs of a nice cheesesteak. Plenty of meat, onions, mushrooms, and hot peppers if you can handle them(I like to get them on the side).

The food is excellent and authentic, kind of a dive in appearance, but get some food, take it home and enjoy the fantastic taste.

My boyfriend and I stopped here yesterday(2⁄14) to grab a quick bite before our drive back to CA. I found this place on Unilocal,it had decent reviews and it was open, so we decided to give it a try. The place itself isn’t the prettiest place and not super clean. We saw one of the workers drop a receipt in the deep fryer, then pick it out and throw French fries in there with bare hands. Was a little alarming but we didn’t think too much into it. I ordered the pepper steak– it was ok, not amazing. The french fries tasted like fries you’d get at a carnival. My boyfriend got the meatball sub– saw the cook throw some meatballs in a plastic container and cook them in the microwave. He was a little apprehensive but again, we didn’t look too much into it. His sandwich tasted ok he said. Well a few hours later– cold sweats, stomach ache… then violent throwing up. He had food poisoning. Still incredibly sick today. Note to self-if it looks dirty and the workers/cooking process doesn’t seem very clean… don’t eat there. We learned that lesson the hard way.

This food is so good! My favorite is the mini corn dogs and the mac and cheese bites. The fry sauce is super good, and that is a make or break for me. Everyone I know who’s tried this place loves it. The employees are pretty chill and friendly. When you walk in, the air feels thick with grease and oil, and it dosent look like the prettiest place, but its really good I promise.

I love the cheese steak sandwiches here and the fries are sooooooooo good. French dip and hot combo sandwiches are also delightful.

How did I end up back on the east coast? This place nails it for me. I ended up getting their flagship Philadelphian with cheese, peppers. tomatoes, and lettuce(6 inch) and yes it was greasy, but so very tasty. The hoagie rolls were also very moist and just what I would expect on a cheese steak. Also be sure to get the fried mac n cheese and the fried mushroom. You might be hitting the gym the rest of the week to work of those calories but certainly well worth it.

The pepper steak was okay. If you come during lunch expect 30 minutes to get your sandwich since its so busy. Worst part of this place the old slob with the glasses with no gloves ever touching money, wiping down tables, phone, etc… never washed hands and was handling and slicing up the meat. I guess I’ll have to pray after I eat.

This is the pinnacle of grunge! Imagine where Kurt Cobain would go to chow down and soothe his shredded larynx while in a post-concert haze. If you’re concerned about the status of the Philadelphian’s employees’ food handlers permits, fear not! They have GRUB handlers’ permits. Case closed.

I’ve heard great things about this place and it definitely lived up to the hype. The actual fresh ingredients of the Philly cheesesteak was on point… truly amazing… Great service… cool guys… I know you must wonder about my 4 star review… Most of a good Philly cheesesteak depends on the fresh ingredients(which was on point)…but there is a portion that cannot be overlooked with a good Philly cheesesteak… the bread. The bread was just ok here… seemed like it was day old and kinda stale. I will come back, and if that one thing changes this place will have all 5 of my stars.

The good. They cleaned the place up a bit. The bad: I remember loving this place when I was a kid. But, either I’ve grown or they changed. To bready, to greasy, no taste, and all the staff had gross beards, waiting to drop a hair on the dirty grill. Not ever going back.

Ugh… I like dive restaurants with good food, but the food here is terrible. Worst Philly I’ve ever had. They put hot roast beef lunch meat on the sandwich, not chopped steak. Poor quality(canned?) peppers and mushrooms. Lifeless bread swimming in grease. The onion rings are even worse! Soggy, greasy, burnt batter. I ate one and almost barfed. Never again!

Just when I thought Asian restaurants are dirtiest place of all restaurants in state, I discovered Philadelphian. I suppose they cleaned up quite a bit prior to my first visit, and it was still quite disgusting. At least the floor was not very sticky and shoes did not smell funny after the visit. Sandwich was quite plain, we got the Philly Steak, and all they give you was cooked beef inside with cheese, where are the cooked veggies? So you have to add them by yourself at the cold tables… totally weird and gross, who knows how long they have been sitting there? Maybe just call them Long Roast Beef Sandwich instead? The staffs there seem quite carefree, or just have no care about rest of the world. I guess if you are into street food in a sit down of setting and likes to hang out with trashy type of patrons, then this would be your place, otherwise there are better sandwich shops in town.

I REGRETNOTHING. There are some nights where all you want is a quick sandwich. Nothing fancy. Far from fancy. Different language than fancy. Those are the nights I find myself at The Philadelphian. Look – I rarely eat at the same restaurant twice. Life’s too short. But whether it’s the proximity to the Sandy dollar theater and the temptation to make it a cheap eats/cheap entertainment night, or whether there’s something that gets into my system, I do not know. But what I do know is that I’m here every few months, usually by myself, usually wolfing down a sandwich, and indulging in what has become my own dirty, guilty pleasure. Even if fancy hired a bunch of scientists, developed a space program, and left Earth to go on a manned mission to Mars, it would still not be as far away from you as it is when you go to The Philadelphian. But load up one of their sandwiches with everything(sans onions) and get some sauce and you won’t care one bit. Get those big, wonderfully soggy fries and dig in.

I give this place five stars for their food and prices. Their food is great and super cheap and big. I like the sandwiches with everything. Their fries are good, the oil seems a little old but it really just gives it more flavor. Their onion rings aren’t my favorite, it’s kind of like a donut with an onion in the middle. The staff is friendly. They have lots of regulars. The bad thing is that it’s really dirty. But that’s fine just get your order to go and you don’t have to worry about it! But seriously the best cheap Philly out there.

I have been coming to this dive for years. I always get the steak sandwich with bell peppers and mushrooms and tomatoes. Bright colors let’s me know the veggies are fresh. The six inch is so full of fresh chopped steak no need to order the large. So delicious. Thick cut fries. The half order is plenty. The onion rings are odd but good. Like donuts with onion inside. Good though. Even though they have cleaned up its still not the kind of place you would want to bring a first date.

I was told by my friend to try this place out, because they are suppose to have pretty amazing philly cheesesteaks so I had to try it out. This location is pretty hidden in a shopping center strip(South side of the AutoZone) in Sandy(if you’ve never been here, keep any eye out when your in the neighborhood so you won’t accidentally miss this place). This isn’t a big place with a few tables and chairs to sit at, but the staff are friendly. I ordered the Philadelphian Steak with a side of their fresh cut fries. They really stack up on the sandwich with the meat(I liked!) as well as the cheese, onions and mushrooms. I felt that they give you a lot for what you pay for. I can say I will come back and probably try their other items on the menu.

This place still has that smell of not being very sanitary. Smoke coming off of the fryer, the grill black as coal with unused old portions of food off to the side. It has been years since I have been here. Way back in the day I used to go to this place when it was off of 9400 South. Anyhow, the food isn’t very good, the meat looks to be precooked, very little cheese and the thick stale bread was disgusting. I think the only thing saving this place is the English chips, they are great!
