Monroes American Carribean Cusine

I came out to Monroe’s American Carribean Cuisine for a casting call. It was tucked away in a shopping complex off a toll road. The food was alright, I tried one of their chicken fingers and it was huge. The service was spot on, they were quick and happy to help.

This place possesses a classic southern charm type of menu with a Caribbean flare. I eaten here about three times, if they were closer I’d go more often. The oxtail falls right off the bone, seasoned well and great portion sizes. Every meal is served with cabbage, rice and plantains.
I went there today and they’ve changed their menu since the last time I was there. They offer wings and burgers. Not your typical burgers, either. Each has a different personality. I ordered the pork-​chops. The dinner comes with two nicely sized chops, hey save some for later, as well as the sides. My only negative comment, the mac & cheese smh. For a place with such a southern vibe, and they didn’t have a baked mac & cheese was disappointing.
I love this place because it’s so authentic. The people there are so friendly and accommodating. The lady I ordered with, constantly called me by my name. I left and came back and she still remember. If you are ever in Sanford, I highly recommend this hidden pearl.

A guy I work with walked in with a menu from this place so I thought I would give them a try for lunch today. Boy! Glad I did! They serve both lunch & dinner here. They’re to the right of the Bravo’s Supermarket on SR 1792 in Sanford.
I had their Jerk Chicken which comes in 3 size portions: small, medium & large. I chose the large, all white meat. The chicken was cut into BIG chunks & covered with their jerk sauce. The perfect amount of sauce. Spicy but not too spicy. It was so good though that I would have loved a little bit more of the sauce. My chicken was a tad dry but I’m gonna attribute that to being white meat. My lunch also came with a huge amount of rice & a choice of 2 sides. I picked the cabbage and the BESt plantains I have ever tasted! It was a huge amount of food. That with a Diet coke cost me $ 9. What a DEAL! They also serve currys, fish, shrimp & lobster.
