Had to get a smog check, looked on Unilocal and ACE had the best reviews. Super quick and $ 30 flat rate when you mention Unilocal!Walked up 1:00pm and was there for 15 minutes. Danny helped me with great customer service and made sure I was in and out.

This place was amazing! I was in and out within 10 – 15 mins. They even have a outdoor lounge where I just flipped through the TV channels.
Just remember to mention the Yelo deal if it is valid to get the discounted price! I got my smog test with cert for $ 30 when it was originally $ 50!
I did not have my DMV paper work and they were nice enough to find my information in the system for me!

These guys are awesome. They are located on Edinger and Grand in the Shell Gas Station in Santa Ana near Crevier BMW.
I was here for maybe 20 minutes and they were so busy. 2 man team so effective and efficient.
If you unlock the coupon on Unilocal the price is amazing. I highly recommend them.

My car passed but for anyone who is worried that their car might not pass. They’ll test it and if it doesn’t pass they will let you repair it anywhere return and get it retested for the 1 time charge.

I received my DMV renewal paperwork and learned that my nearly six-​year old Prius needed a smog check this year. I looked around and found ACE, which was $ 20+ cheaper than the places close to where I lived, yet had overall great reviews.
I called on a Friday to confirm that I could not make an appointment (you cannot), and the proprietor recommended that I come as early as possible to avoid the crowds. I pulled into the shop on a Saturday morning just after 8:00 a.m. and, after no more than 10 minutes, I was told that my car had passed the smog check.
Super quick at an exceptional price ($ 30 w/​a Unilocal check-​in). What more could you ask for? I’ll be back in two years!

Fast, easy service at a great price. What else do you need? They have a little outside sitting area where you’d be happy to stay longer than your service is going to take.
Unless you have completely unreasonable expectations, I can’t see anyone not being satisfied here.

Did my smog check on a Saturday morning for $ 30. I was greeted by Danny. Even though there was 1 person ahead of me, I was still finished within 15 minutes. Super fast service. I will definitely be doing all my smog tests at this location and recommend my friends to do the same. Great job!

Best smog shop in town. Fast and friendly. Always busy on the weekend though. I highly recommend using them. Took a few times for my truck to pass but each time a came back for the retest they remembered me.

My 2006 car needed smog check for the 2 year registration renewal. This is my second time here and again the best smog check service. This is a one man shop. No appointment, no long wait, no fuss. One guy ahead of me and my car was done in less than 10 minutes. Another plus: The cost was low compared to other smog test stations I had been to in OC.

Drove up, was happily greeted and given paperwork, had a seat in the outdoor makeshift lounge, completed paperwork and payment, smog test results explained and electronically transmitted, and away I drove!

I have to give him a one star because of the shadiness of how he quoted my price. Beware, if you don’t come in rags, you will get charged $ 50+ for a smog test. Show your prices so you have you costumer’s confidence. Never getting a smog test here again.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service!!! I am new in town and needed to get a smog test done for my car. I stopped by this place & met with Mike yesterday. He quoted me $ 30 for my 2014 Acura ILX. I was shocked w/​the price because in Las Vegas, I only paid $ 12.95 or less every year for a smog test. It was noon and I spent a long morning at the DMV prior to stopping by, so I left. I came back this morning to get it done.
I parked in a parking spot. As I was walking to his shop & didn’t find him, a customer who pulled right in front of the shop told me he was next door. I found MIKE, the same guy I met yesterday.
I was fine with a $ 30 smog check. He asked for my car key. I didn’t know he had to pull my car into the shop. Again, in Las Vegas, I just drove up in the front and the machine was hooked in my car for the test, and then I drove off in less than 5 mins. It is different here, I guess!
Nevertheless, I expected a good customer service of which MIKE was TERRIBLE TERRIBLE at it. He argued with me, stated I didn’t trust him, that he gave me the best price in town, blahh blahh. Additionally, he acussed me that I cut the other customer off. yahh dahhh yahh dahhh in front of the other customer who later told me that Mike was his close friend.
The other customer who seemed that he would have done a better job than MIKE agreed that MIKE gave terrible customer service. I can’t deal with this type of customer service so, I left!
I am now at 1505 S. GRAND doing my smog test for the same price MIKE offered. I was right, wasn’t I? If you could give me a $ 30 smog check, I am sure plenty of others would be willing to match your price.
Two main components of a successful business is GOOD PRICE & GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am willing to walk away if I get terrible customer service, whether it is a $ 5, $ 10, or $ 30 smog check. It is about earning a customer’s business.
I do not recommend this place if you want a good customer service with a good attitude. I’m sure I won’t be back, because 1505 S. GRAND has earned my business while MIKE failed to do so.

Two hours later, the shop owner, Danny, sent me a PRIVATE message telling me not to hold grudge against his tech and others (A snapshot of his message is posted). The review was based on my experience. When I stopped by, Mike was listening to music with his hood and a headphone over his head. The other customer, Will (as Danny indicated in his message), is a close friend of MIKE. Go figure! It all comes down to good customer service. You can explain without being rude, and that was not the case. Mike had a hot temper with a terrible voice tone right in front of WILL. What does that tell you?!
The bottom line is the type of services this shop offers, I am not interested. If you are used to having bad customer services, come here because you wouldn’t know the difference.
Go down the road at 1505 S. GRAND, and you will notice the difference. The waiting area is nice over there also.

I am so glad I found this place and wished I came here first.
I recently had my clutch replaced and the next day, took my car in to get a smog test at some random smog only place a few blocks away. I even told that other place’s tech that I just had a major service on my car the day before. After paying $ 31.75 I was informed I failed because I need to drive 300+ — 1000 miles on my car for the computer to cycle. Well thank you very much for not telling me when I told you I just got my car serviced the previous day.
So I drove my car to SF and back. 1,000 miles. Found this place. I drove in and told him I failed a smog test at another station. The guy pulled out a data reader and performed a pre-​test making sure I would be good to go. Then after no code and all systems ready, he performed the test. I passed. Charged me $ 30 from my Unilocal coupon and I was done. If I’d failed, it would have been a free re-​test.
Definitely coming back here again.

I was recommended to ACE Smog by my brother in law and after seeing the great Unilocal reviews, I thought this is where I should go. I came to ACE smog just hoping that Danny would pass my car; come to find out I had two bad catalytic converters and an illegal air filter. I thought to myself, why did other shops pass me in the past? Though in the back of my head, I wished that he would just pass me, but he didn’t.
Why the 5 stars then? Well, it cost me over $ 1000 in repairs which needed to be done anyhow and a stock air filter that needed to be put back on. It also cost me 4 trips back and forth to ACE Smog and the repair shop. You would think I would be giving this place one star. But to be fair all of that trouble is because of California emissions and not ACE Smog.
The first trip, Danny charged me $ 20, and offered that if I wanted to come back, I just pay a $ 25 difference. Each time I came back he did his usual OBD2 test, did some other inspections, but never charged me those couple times.
Finally the 4^th visit, and after replacing 2 catalytic converters and 2 o2 sensors, with a clean lit dashboard, my car finally passed. I felt like I had won an award. Though I had a 50% off Unilocal coupon, I didn’t use it and just paid the remaining $ 25.
I guess this experience forced me to fix my car and become compliant. It’s not Danny’s fault for making me come back 4 times; he was just doing his job. 5 stars for all the times Danny spent to recheck my car and not charging me each time I came back.
