Wow Wow Wow… This is the place I’ve been looking for… Lamb — Magic Word !!! The best lamb I’ve tried (except one that I cook) within 50 miles radius. The place is nothing fancy but the food is excellent. Lamb meal with rice, beans, tortilla and outstanding lamb consume for $ 11. Al pastor tacos are excellent and roasted jalapeño salsa… I keep coming back every time I am close to that place… Oh, I forgot shrimp cocktail with octopus — Wow… GREAT PLACE !!!

The service was very slow. They took forever to get me my food plus the menudo I ordered had no flavor.

Their outside green color is uninviting and they should really repaint it a bright orange so they can still get attention from drivers but not have an ugly paint job. The food is fine but it’s crowded. 3 stars for making us wait outside

This place is always close. Their phone is never answered and the restaurant hours are unknown. It’s really quite annoying. We will not go back any time soon since we’ve tried plenty of times to eat here and every single one the love is closed. We tried tonight again and all we got is a rude woman coming to the door saying «it’s close!!!» Not even a greeting. Rudeness to the max.

Been a costumer since they used to sell in their house and we love this place vey friendly staff and owners they have a variety homemade Mexican food and their famous consome, barbabcoa and pancita, tlacoyos

For authentic style Barbacoa it doesn’t get better than this place. Just like the other Unilocaler down below said since they would serve in their back yard.
Excelent food very good service, and my friends nobody is perfect we all make mistakes just like that chick also in here below that says she got charged for the wrong plate.

This place a small hole in the wall place and the parking is really narrow. The service was good except for the part that it took about 15 minutes to get our check after we were done eating and when they brought it over we were charged for the wrong plate. I ordered the chicken taquitos which were very tasty. I had to order extra sour cream though because there was hardly any and my husband ordered the chilaquiles which were a little soggy for his taste. There was good flavor in the food but I wouldn’t go for a second time.

First time here and first time eating tlacoyos! Sooo good and soft yet crispy! The barbacoa itself is flavorful plus all the fixings. I’m bummed I gave one to my sister, and am bringing one back for others to try, but I have to! I will be back.

I have been eating their food before they even had the restaurant, in their backyard every Sunday morning, I’ve only tried
Barbacoa– nice and tender, if you want strictly meat the term to use is Macisa
Pancita roja y verde– really good and so flavorful, it has a menudo type of texture, so tender with tortillas and consome, I recommend both the green an red salsas
They have more choices check em out.
Last thing, parking is a lil tricky, park in the side streets if possible

I had their chillaquilles. The wait of 20minutes was so worth it. The waitress was very nice. She offered water while I waited and asked if we wanted to look at some menus while we waited.

Tiene un sabor authentico que no hay en otro lugar y la variedad de comida mexicana es amplio… Los tlacoyos son una delicia!!! El Servicio necesita mejorar y ser un poco mas atento. Los precios son muy comodos… Sinceramente les recomiendo este lugar.

Hidden gem of old santa ana best Wednesday deals 1 dollar tacos very tasty and 2 dollar premium Mexican beers my go to spot for Wednesdays from now till I die

This is my favorite place for Barbacoa. Honestly I have not found another place at all that serves this dish as good as here. Waiter’s are very nice. Gets crowded on The weekend so if you come in late you might have to wait. Parking is in the back of the restaurant too small and only one car at a time can exit and enter the small parking lot. Try parking in the street.
Other than that I really recommend this place.

Great food at a great price! Excellent service as well. My only suggestion would be a different location. Parking is small and the restaurant needs a makeover with more seating. Other than that, everything is A++. The whole family gives it a 5 star rating.

Esto si es comida, y eso d q el servicio no es el mejor!!! Yo diria q no hay otro mejor, gracias x ofrecernos estos exquicitos platillos q son unos manjares, quizas X estas razones en algun momento m toca esperar mesa y q m turno d ser atendido llegue, pero lo bueno cuesta, y esas comidas son las mejores!!! La comida esta muy rica, pero la comida no lo es todo. El servicio no ha sido el mejor. Esta ultima vez no pusieron una orden de comida y quede mal con mis invitados. Solo un simple «lo siento» y nada mas– ninguna oferta de dar la orden sin costo, o algun descuento o algo asi para compensar la molestia. Triste que no pongan mas atencion al cliente.
Good food, but service counts too. This last time they forgot to include some food in my to go order– I was left short and my guests hungry. All I got was a verbal apology– nothing to compensate for their mistake. Sad they don’t pay more attention to the service and the client.

I got one order of Barbacoa. The plate was loaded with Borrego, rice and beans, and on the side a delicious barbacoa broth with garbanzo beans. Definitely coming back for more. Prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent.

The food here is fantastic! Don’t tell the owners, but they could get away with charging more based on the portions and quality.
Pros: Food, portions, price, amazing horchata
Cons: single driveway for entrance and exit (and a blind exit on to a busy street at that) interior seating and tables are very typical of a dive/​greasy spoon.
Helpful tip: $ 1 Tacos on Wed/​Thu as well as buy one get one beer. Know some spanish, they don’t speak much english.

For Wed/​Thurs $ 1 tacos you can’t beat it!
So far i’ve tried all the meats available and these are my favorite in order:
Pastor
Asada
Pollo
Chorizo
The meat is good and the red salsa is dark and smokey, it goes nicely with the pastor. The little old lady Angeles is sweet too!
Their parking lot is a little funny though, one lane in and the same one lane out… you basically get to play chicken with whoever is pulling in and out.

Definitely delicious. They DO take plastic by the way. I had chicken tacos with verde sauce and they were very good. Very polite and friendly service. Dollar taco day on Wednesday!

Finally got a chance to try this place, they got several specialties but if you are looking for something different try the tlacoyos, it similar to a salvadorian pupusa but with a Mexican twist. They come stuffed with garbanzo or pinto bean paste, I recommned asking for «tlacoyos ahogados» so they pour a tasty green sauce on top of them.
Their big seller is their barbacoa Hidalgo style (served with a consome soup), but recommend this place for any vegetarian with a craving for Mexican food and want something else other than just a plate of beans and rice, the tlacoyos is a must try!
Prices are very affortable most dishes are $ 6-​$ 8, cash only but there is an ATM inside if you need it. Definitely a place worth coming back for a second round!

Had the tlacoyo — quite tasty.
The barbacoa was very good — more gamey than other places.
Had the seasonal worm sauce — very good.
The red lamb tripe was excellent. The green tasted a little tripey.
Mixiote is cool. Spice rubbed meat cooked in a bag like al cartoccio. We had the pork — was a little tough. Needed more time. I’d try the chicken.
