El Jefe’s tacos are mouth-wateringly delicious, fresh, and filling! I’m specifically obsessed with his tacos de pollo and pastor. On top of how amazing his menu is, you can’t beat his price! $ 1.00(1.25 for pastor) for a taco will be the best freaking dollar you spend. I also love supporting this place because El Jefe is the kindest guy you’ll meet. He’s a hard-working, friendly, and warm person. Also, his salsa is the BEST.

Upon the darkened corner of Santa Ana’s 5th and French streets are some delicious specialty tacos patiently awaiting your exploration. My appreciation for tacos with a twist – ones prepared with an «angle,» so to speak – is worth my seeking out, my driving in continuous circles around the dimly lit avenues and winding boulevards of Santa Ana. Because if it’s tacos you desire, and I do, Santa Ana’s the place. The Boss, himself, decoratively plates Fritanga, Cecina, and Pescado; Lengua, Carnitas, and Chorizo con Papas; Asada, Tripita, and Camaron… Tacos, tacos, tacos, galore! And they’re easy on the wallet, by the way: anywhere from $ 1 to $ 2, and so many to choose from. So if your next crawl demands something off the beaten path, something favoring more the journey rather than the expected, try Jefe’s…and indulge!

Stopped by this truck few days ago an got an Asada Taco. Meat is nicely seasoned, tortillas are soft and warm. Then you can add whatever you want to your taco.

Love this truck. My favorite one in DTSA. Meat is tender and juicy and tasty. The couple who runs it is super nice

Ordered chicken pork and beef tacos. They tasted pretty good but I’m not gonna lie, one dollar seems pretty pricey for this. For those who dont like tortillas, its all you taste; its a pretty large proportion of the taco, and its really soft so it aint crispy grilled tortillas. I for one, like this. The owners are really nice though.

Usually parked at French and 5th street. Food is great, but might take a few minutes longer because they hand make alot of stuff like the tortillas, etc… Worth a look if you’re in the area. Very friendly employees.

You’ll see this truck parked on French Street between 5th and 6th in Santa Ana with«Mariscos» written prominently on the side of the truck, which is Spanish for seafood. This taco truck has a stunning selection of food, is very fresh, and the owner is always friendly. Items include tortas, burritos, sopes, huaraches, quesadillas, enchiladas, mulitas, tacos, seafood cocktails and a ton more. Meats include asada, pastor, tripita, cabeza, lengua(which is amazing), buche, chicken/pollo, chorizo, carnitas, cueritors, cecina, shrimp/camaron, and fish/pescado. It’s a much wider selection of items than your average taco truck, and the seafood items are excellent. A good selection of drinks is always cold. The service is great. One time I was short of money after I ordered, and when I went to scale back my order the owner told me to just come back later and give him the money another time. Kids are made to feel welcome here — the owner has given my kids free chocolates or candy on occasion… he’s a genuinely nice guy. My favorite item is the lengua quesadilla — a fresh handmade corn tortilla with succulent and savory lengua meat, fresh tomatoes and lettuce with lots of soft white cheese — so amazing. You’ll never eat a standard quesadilla again. Legnua is beef tongue — if you haven’t tried it you should totally get it at El Jefe — this place makes it totally delicious and amazing. Trust me! I’ve been to most of the taco trucks in Santa Ana, and in my opinion this one is the best. Go to this place — totally worth the drive if you don’t live close. You won’t be disappointed!
