MJB Flooring

We had looked for flooring for a long time going to many different flooring stores. I ran across Avalon Flooring and they had just what I wanted. John helped me and he was so helpful he spent a ton of time with me. I had gone to other stores again and if I found something I called john and he would let me know Avalon’s price and Avalon was always better. He also helped me deciding on the best floor for our home. We ordered the flooring and a week later they had our floors and scheduled our install. Joe and two others came to take out our old flooring and prep the floors. It took them three days. They were very professional. They came every day they were on time or early. They moved all my furniture pulled up all the flooring in my house; they sanded all the floors, and leveled all the floors. On the third day Young came and started prepping for the install. He also was very professional. He came every day on time clean up every day. He did an excellent job. My floors are beautiful. They finished a day early. Brian the owner came by several times to check on the job, during the prep and the install. I would definitely recommend MJB to all my friends, family and anyone else.

We used MJB Flooring to refinish our hardwood floors. Our floor was in bad shape as it had not been cared for in many years. We had several areas in the floor where wood rot had taken place from termite damage, and many areas in the floor that had been damaged and discolored due to cat urine. Some of the flooring was so bad, it had to be replaced, though they were able to salvage most of the damaged floor. I have to say, MJB Flooring did an exceptional job at the repairs and refinish both. You can’t even tell where the damaged flooring was. It looks brand new! The floors are beautiful and we are very pleased. We will definitely be using them again in the future.

When we used MJB Flooring in 2012 they subcontracted their work out to licensed contractors on their list. Our first experience was very good but the second time we used them we got a different subcontractor and they were subpar. The owner begrudgingly came back to fix the issues only because I withheld the $ 5K balance due.

I am reluctantly writing this review. I don’t like to write reviews like this, but if it can save someone else thousands, as was spent here, it will be worth it for them.
I am a realtor. I referred a client to MJB Flooring for a wood floor refinishing service.
I was the first to check on the finished job. However, when I got to the home, At first glance, I thought that the service had not been provided yet so I called to check on the correct service date. I was told the floor had already been finished. Horrified, on a closer look I noticed that some areas seemed to be resealed and some not. The floors had not been cleaned as promised, but instead the they sealed in the paint spots on the floor, that they promised would be cleaned, as well as sealing in all the dog hair that was promised to be vacuumed out. Other areas seemed to be left unsealed. I am a realtor, I see many, many home floors and projects.
I called back three times before the manager/​owner (?) called me back. He came to check the job a week later. He agreed that the job was not of good quality. He agreed to call me back and set up a time to remedy the error. I waited again, no call. Called, no return call.
Honestly, it was a small job, not difficult to fix or even do correctly the first time. But worst of all was the poor customer service that I received from the manager/​owner. The service was all about ‘self-​serve’ and not ‘client-​service’. Good luck with that work ethic.

I was referred to MJB from another flooring company that did not do the scope of work I was looking for. I needed three spots repaired from getting space heaters removed. They did such a good job:
1. They were timely and responsive.
2. They were reasonably priced.
3. They did a fabulous job… I can barely tell the difference between the old and new.
4. They were great with my two kids.
