Sit ‘n Sleep

AMAZING! I have been in need of a bed for some time and have shopped around a few places and just couldn’t find the bed i wanted. Not only did i find the bed i wanted, but I found the bed that was perfect for me! Not only was the guy selling the bed super nice and knew everything the other places didn’t, but he was super cool and really easy to work with. Thank you very much John Baltramaitis for the info and for helping me choose the right bed for me. Very very satisfied and will defiantly recommend you and your store to anyone looking to get a bed.

After many months, the owner finally contacted me to look into a resolution, and I’m glad, at least now I can say the owner does care after all. This time around the process of resolving this issue came much faster, about a month from start to end, versus the endless run-​around when we first called a year ago. We got a credit on the mattress to buy a different one. This time, John helped us and he was much better than the sales manager (Frank or Fred for our first mattress). This time, I asked John, double-​asked and tripled-​asked. Are you sure our existing box spring will work perfectly fine with this new mattress we’re getting? He assured us, yes, and said that if we wanted to, we can add a flat board to it as well. I told John what we’re looking for and what we’re looking to avoid with our sleeping. I based my questions from my own research, looking for his expertise to verify them. He verified my questions and picked out 3 different foam mattresses for us to choose from. We rolled around the mattresses and tested the bounciness. We settled for the Sherwood AvoSleep foam mattress which John recommended based on what we said we’re looking for. We paid an additional $ 638 difference to the $ 1579 credit from the previous defective mattress, so this new mattress is not cheap. Meaning, we want this one to absolutely be perfect, with no issues what so ever. Because Fred/​Frank (who took over the order from Carol) didn’t offer much info, I took it on myself to research on the different essentials of mattresses. Hope this will help you.
1) Coil mattress = Definitely movement transfer, bounce.
2) Coil with foam wrapped around each or stuffed in between = Less movement transfer even with pillow top. Pillow top just makes the mattress feel softer or blush but it doesn’t do anything as far as eliminating movement transfer.
3) Foam mattress = virtually no movement transfer, very little.
Platform box is better because they absorb movement as well as dispersing the weight of the mattress more evenly, so you’ll have less chance of getting indentation or lumpy mattresses after years of use. Box spring is designed to absorb movement from your mattress but it cannot distribute body weight evenly over time your mattress can get lumpy and have dents in it. A flat board can fix these issues as well as adding some firmness back to your mattress.
These are info I expect a professional sales rep to SHARE with me, the customer, without me having to ask because I wouldn’t know what questions to ask. We’re not the experts here. I hope our bad experience and the process of resolving it can help others. If/​When I have to buy another mattress/​bed, I would check out other mattress companies in Santa Barbara before making a buying decision with Sit n Sleep.

John was great. Went looking for a mattress on the spur of the moment, and walked out with a awesome new Tempur Pedic. He walked me through a bunch of mattresses and listened to my likes and dislikes about each one and adjusted it from there! Overall was simple and easy and I got a great deal. Highly recommend the store and working with John.

We searched a lot in trying to find a new bed. We found Sit’n Sleep and really appreciated how patient John was in helping us decide what would work best. We made many trips to the store to test the different beds (and pillows) and he was always there to explain the differences and interesting features. In the end we chose the aireloom foam mattress and I finally got my long awaited down pillow. John gave us a good deal with some extras as part of the package. We also liked not having to pay extra for delivery. John’s assistance and his warm and friendly approach made us decide to buy from Sit’n Sleep rather than look for another store.

Awesome purchase experience. Was going to drive to Burbank IKEA … But John totally met my budget and I got a great product. Definitely try the ‘bed match’ computer system to help select your mattress.

Buyers beware. Bad experience, start to end. Customer service is disgraceful. No one listens, no one at Sit ‘n Sleep seems to talk to one another; people that make assurances are no where to be found when you try to reach them, you feel like you’re on an island trying to be heard, and you’re working hard to get them on the same page of communication. Expect to spend a lot of time on the phone and get a lot of run-​around. Exhausting. Never again. Never.

I would like to thank Freddy for his assistance in selecting our new mattress. The entire experience was very pleasant and professional. While their selection of mattress and brands is HUGE, utilizing their innovative sleep selection technology helped narrow the choice of mattress to the comfort level that was perfect for our body weight and sleep position. Freddy is also to be commend for being very patient as we came back to the store multiple times to lay on our mattress choices. Each time Freddie answered our questions — then left us to try the mattress for as long as we liked while testing them out. There was no pressure to buy — just helpfulness and knowledge when we needed it. When we finally chose «the one» Freddie went over and beyond in giving us a fantastic deal that saved us $$ hundreds $$ of dollars vs. the local competition. I look forward to doing business with Sit n Sleep again and HIGHLY recommend them (and Freddie) for your next mattress purchase.

Went in looking for our first decent mattress. John helped us out and worked with us to find exactly what we wanted and threw in some pillows and sheets for a great deal. It’s tucked in the back corner of the shopping center and tricky to find but well worth finding!

Had a great shopping experience with Freddy today. The perfect mix of educating us, assisting us, and giving us a little space to think about it. We have been to several stores and he was one of the friendliest and most knowledgable people we’ve encountered. We learned so much and enjoyed our time in the store because of him. We’ll be back and definitely suggest working with him.

Hate high pressure, so read the reviews to get somewhat of a feel for the place. Went in and was met by John who was one of the most easy going salesman I have ever dealt with. He grew up here in the area, and you can tell he is invested in good customer relations. Within fifteen minutes he found me a wonderful mattress that was on the lower end of their price range. And get this… next day delivery! All the online stores give you 2 – 6 weeks delivery time. The prices might possibly be lower in some cases, but the ability to deal face to face with someone, being able to try out the mattress, the 60 day guarantee, and keepin’ the business local won high marks by me. From previous customer reviews, Freddy might «be the man», but in this review, John wins the prize.

My daughter and I were in Sit ‘n Sleep on Friday to buy a mattress & chest of drawers. Katie was on a firm budget. John was our salesman. He worked very hard and found a mattress and chest of drawers that were within her budget. John had it delivered on a Sunday so she could get unpacked and get settled into her new room. John was a caring and honest professional. His mission was to help my daughter find the best product for the amount of money she had to spend. He did not waste time trying to upsell her. He respected her budget and made great suggestions as to what would fit within her budget. I could tell John really liked his job and believed in his products and company. What was most impressive was how he strived for customer satisfaction. He actually cared and saw to it that Katie purchased the right product, stayed within her budget and that it was delivered quickly. He went the extra mile and in return has gained two very loyal customers. We know we can count on great service and products from John and Sit ‘n Sleep.

I went in on a Tuesday and checked stuff out. No pressure. I said I be back over the weekend with my wife for spousal approval, a story they’ve probably heard a million times. Well, I was back the following Sunday and dealt with the same sales guy (Freddie) who again was helpful and not the pressure sales type you’d expect. I got the same discount as if I’d bought online, so a new mattress set will be delivered a week from today. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an upgrade to their bed at a fair price. They have a huge selection and a huge price range, so you can get what you need without getting ripped off.

My husband and I are very pleased with the education and customer service at Sit n’ Sleep! We were instantly greeted with a smile and welcomed to browse as much as we liked. Once we started asking questions Freddy asked us if we were interested in taking a mattress match test– which is quite impressive! You lay on a bed that has sensors to see where your pressure points are based on what type of sleeper you are. The results basically match you with the type of firmness or softness your body needs. We tried a few mattresses based on our numbers and narrowed it down to our favorite mattress. We can’t wait for our new mattress to be delivered this week. Thanks Freddy!

I had to daunting task of researching and buying a new mattress, after too many years with my old faithful bed. Caroline was more than helpful, both times I visited the store. She was professional, polite, and friendly. She made the decision process far easier than I suspect it can be, and also made the purchasing process a breeze! A week later, I have my mattress — the delivery was on time, and the Pascual and Daniel were helpful in setting up my old mattress and frame in another room. The whole experience was a delight. But special kudos to Caroline — customer service is alive and well in Santa Barbara, at least at Sit N Sleep.

My Fiancé and I moved from Boston to Santa Barbara and the first thing we needed was a mattress!
We made our way over to Sit and Sleep. I had read some pretty good reviews on here about other experiences in the store, and given it’s location we decided to check it out. When we walked in we were greeted by Freddy and asked if we needed any help. We gave him our price range (a little on the lower side) and he promptly showed us a great mattress in that range.
Freddy asked us if we wanted to take the mattress test they have in the store. (We had been sleeping on an air mattress for a couple of days so this was a bit of a treat.) The special program they have showed us exactly what mattress we should buy. The mattress Freddy originally pointed us to fit our needs, but we wanted to look around the store. Freddy let us do this. He was not pushy, respected our budget and helped us figure out what mattress would be best for us. We came across a mattress that was on sale because they were selling the floor mattress. It was above our price range, but a good $ 1,500 off what it would have cost normally.
We needed a box spring and he threw that in with the purchase of the mattress for free. There was free delivery too! We waited three days to receive the mattress. The men who delivered it were professional and helpful with the mattress and box spring. I didn’t have to lift a finger except to open the door.
The mattress has changed our lives! My fiancé used to toss and turn and /​hated/​getting out of bed in the morning. He sleeps like a rock and pops out of bed in the morning. We have both attributed our good moods and our good sleep to the mattress! We could not be happier to have gone with Sit and Sleep! Freddy is a gem!

Went into the sit and sleep store to look for a new bed, and right away I was greeted and helped by caroline. We did a bed match and looked at 3 possible beds that matched my comfort level, Caroline was great at explaining everything and making sure I was the most happy with my selection. The buying experience was great and Caroline was awesome, she made buying the bed so easy and quick. I recomend to anyone looking for a new bed to go here they have a huge selection and the employees are very helpful.

Contacted Corporate and they were helpful in resolving the situation. Bed was delivered to me at the previously agreed upon price, however this was in no way due to the manager Freddy at the Santa Barbara location. I think Sit n Sleep as a company is still a great place to shop for beds, however I still would never recommend going to the Santa Barbara location as long as Freddy is in charge. Interestingly enough, their regional manager will be personally driving to their location to chat with Freddy so hopefully you will be able to shop here with a more competent manager.
