We’ve walked by this restaurant a few times on our day trips to SB, but only decided to try it as a last-ditch effort for good gluten free/vegetarian options.(A few people in our family have food sensitivities). The restaurant itself is tiny tiny tiny, and it seems like it only has seating for groups of two or maybe three. Most of the seating is outside, and it can get cold out there! Now that we’ve eaten here, I don’t know that we’ll ever eat anywhere else! The rice bowls are really delicious, wholesome, healthy food that you can tell is fresh and good for you. We especially loved the teriyaki salmon and tofu(Silken fried tofu that is TODIEFOR!). The vegetables in the rice bowls we thought were a little undercooked, but that could just be our preferences. I ordered a Sunshine Roll to get a good baseline idea of what their sushi is like, and WOW was I impressed. I’m not new to sushi — here in Atascadero we have 3 sushi places, and there are a whole bunch more within a 20 minute drive in any direction. We’ve also eaten sushi in Hawaii, San Fransisco, Las Vegas, etc… because we’re huge fans. But I’ve gotta say, this one roll I ate ranks up there with the VERY best. Possibly tied for the best of all time. We ended up ordering another, we loved it so much. The fish was EXTREMELY fresh, with not even a hint of fishy flavor, and so tender it was like cutting through butter. All the flavors were fresh and inviting and new! It wasn’t like any sushi I’ve eaten before. However, I know I WILL be eating it again. They have definitely won my vote.

I had a pretty good experience when I came here for lunch. Tried ramen for the first time and it was spicy and delicious. Very small and cozy place.

Got the rainbow roll and it had the least amount of fish I’ve ever seen for the steep price of $ 11. The fish quality was decent but I couldn’t really tell from how little there was. The fish only covered the top of the huge roll(more or less) and did not even come close to covering the sides. As standard(crappy) mall food, it’s better quality but way more expensive. I’d only go back if I was already in the mall.

Probably one of the best sushi here in Santa Barbara. Nothing else to say. My 5 stars says it all.

I come here on my 30 minute lunch break all the time and they are very prompt and the sushi is delicious. They did raise the prices recently so I need to cut back on my daily sushi trips but other than that I think it’s great. I get the sunshine roll and Angie roll. Those two are my favorite. The presentation is great too!

Not once, not twice, but THREE different occasions I found hair in my rolls. I tried giving this place so many chances. Never again.

Delicious smoked salmon roll. The front desk person was super sweet. The seating is mainly outside and a little tight/narrow.

This is the worst place I been to for a while. The spicy ramen didnot even have real noodles. They used korean instant noodle and they charged $ 8 for that joke! They charged for hot green tea and was very expensive for what it is. We will never go there ever again. I want my money back if posssible.

I ordered a teriyaki chicken bento box and a Philadelphia roll. Even though there were a few people ahead and behind me during lunchtime on a weekday, my take-out was ready within 10 minutes or less. This is an order at the counter establishment and the cashier was smiling and friendly. There are seats inside and outside the restaurant. They have a menu with pictures on the wall and actual menus next to the cashier. There are two kitchen areas: the sushi chef is to the left of the cashier and the other kitchen is for the cooking of everything else, such as the teriyaki chicken, gyoza, etc. When I opened up my take-out box at work, I was surprised that everything was presented so beautifully. I like that the combo came with gyoza that was tasty and crunchy. The tempura potato was really soft and melt in my mouth. The California roll was really soft and good too. The salad was average but the teriyaki chicken tasted a bit weird. The chicken was not dry but it tasted like it was broil instead of baked or grilled. Luckily, there was enough teriyaki sauce to keep it from tasting too bland. Overall, I think the bento box is cheaper than most sushi places and for the most part, quite satisfying. However, I don’t think I will be ordering the teriyaki chicken again. J was not impressed by the Philadelphia roll, but he did not dislike it either. The Philadelphia roll here was definitely cheap though I think Sushi Café may offer it at the same price or a little lower. I think I will be back whenever I need sushi fix, since it is so far the least disappointing sushi joint within a mile from my office.

So When I entered this restaurant it was in a mall so I didn’t expect an amazing vibe or amazing food but boy was I wrong! First of all the vibe in here was excellent it made me wanna keep staying! Next I ordered a whole bunch of rolls with my friends and our favorite was the Sapparo and Tiger Roll! They were delicious! Everything else was delicious but those 2 stuck out the most so the next time you go here I recommend these two choices! The workers here are also nice with extrodinary service! They would always stop by and check if we need anything! So overall I give it 2 thumbs up!

I’ve been coming here for two years now, and I can say that I have never been disappointed by this place. This place is located in the paseo Nuevo mall and whenever I’m in the mood for sushi after a long shopping adventure, this is my go to place. Recently I have seen that they added a couple things to their menu and I decided to try it out. I tried out their Mr Protein roll, and as an avid gym goer I’m hooked. This is a great post workout meal because the roll has spicy tuna, fresh salmon on top, and fresh tuna on top … If you’re looking for a great sushi restaurant for the price, look no further check these guys out in the Paseo Nuevo Mall

Being that I work at Paseo Nuevo, I come here for lunch quite often.(Couple times a week) The staff is friendly, the food is good, and I appreciate how quickly the food comes out. Would recommend it to anybody strolling around the mall or downtown.

No bathroom. Good sized rolls. Ordering at the counter makes the tip awkward. Clean. Fresh shrimp tempura for my tiger roll. Pay parking.

I was hungry while shopping in Paseo Nuevo mall one day and wanted something quick and light, so I decided to try this place on a whim. You’d expect bad sushi, since it’s a tiny shop in a shopping mall, but it was delicious! I was so surprised. I went back shortly thereafter with my family after telling them how great it was. My husband was hesitant because, like I said, you don’t expect much from sushi in a mall. But now they are addicted, we go here about once a week. The owners know us now, and are very nice to our young kids. There’s not much room inside, but outside seating is so enjoyable anyway, it doesn’t matter.

Sometimes, I just have to have Japanese food. I have tried them all. Sushi Tyme has a great Sushi Chef in Mr. Chon. The guy is an expert and if you have discriminating taste. You will love the food. You love Tuna. You will love Chon’s special touch. If you enjoy Sashimi. Don’t go anywhere else. My wife doesn’t do Sushi but loves Teriyaki. You like Dragon Roll. Honey Roll. Then come here. You like Sushi then this is the place. Great service. Friendly. And so inexpensive for the quantity and quality. I don’t get any negatives left unless it was by competitors. This is my favorite Sushi place in the greater Santa Barbara area.

I came here with a couple of coworkers today. We thought this place would have improved after its time as Sakura. We thought wrong. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl. Rice was dry. Chicken was dry. Veggies were dry. Hell, sauce was dry. Have you ever felt desiccated after eating? Have you ever felt desiccated after eating food with a sauce? Yeah, that was my experience. I basically consumed a desert. A bowl of sand. Sand with rice. I’m giving this place a 2⁄5 ’cause it was just 2 dry for a $ 9 teriyaki bowl.

I love this place for fresh sashimi and sushi rolls! Staffs are very friendly and welcoming and tip is appreciated but not necessary since you order and pay first. Especially their spicy sashimi bowl is a great post workout meal, healthy, lots of protein and veggies! I usually have their spicy sashimi bowl like 3times a week after my workout and I’m still not over it!

Unilocal said no, your eyes said no, but as a slave of your tummy you went anyway. The first problem is the bad example Sushi Tyme set for grammar school students and for those of us who are trying to learn how to spell. I dyd not have a good tyme at sushy tyme. There are two thyngs however wych Y dyd apprechyate: servyce was fast, and the byll reflected the qualyty of the food. Y probably won’t be back but you shouldn’t lysten to me and try yt out for yourself.

Why did I do that? :( I heard the food wasn’t good. Then I heard the ownership changed and it was better. My opinion? Don’t go!!! Wow. So disappointing. My bento box took forever to be served. Plus there wasn’t much space so I shared a table with another girl.(She was cool). Bento box $ 11(you can add miso soup for $ 1). Omg the chicken was boiled or something. Just very bland. Barely any sauce. It grosses me out just thinking about it. The California roll was gross. Generic. My veggie tempura was basically a side of onion rings… Haha. Really! The salad was meh. Just don’t go. I warned you.

Stopped here for lunch after shopping and it was pretty darn good. You order at the counter and bring the number tag to the table of your choice. Food comes out very fast and the quality is pretty darn good. I liked it here, totally cool.
