Just got home after getting yet another excellent cut and style from owner Bobby. He has been doing my hair for many years and many family members have gone to him over the years as well. He is always cheerful and has lots of great things to talk about with us. Very personable!
The salon is well located, clean and has been recently updated. If you need someone who really knows how to cut curly hair, you have found the right place.

Bobby WIlkins was my hair stylist for nearly 25 years. He was not only my stylist, but my personal friend, spent time with my husband and family, was invited to our wedding as a guest. Monthly I would see Bobby, until recently. I broke my foot and got a concussion and my life revolved around medical stuff. I finally decided to get my hair cut and colored after skipping a month and called my friend Bobby. I didn’t get a return call and received a card instead, four days later. The card read, «Hi Sam, I find that my salon can no longer accomodate (sic) your hair appts. Thank you for your past patronage and generosity. Bobby» After 25 years, this is how he treats friends and long-​standing clients. I called to ask for an explanation, of course no return call. Bobby, while extremely passive-​aggressive and narcissistic, avoids direct confrontation. What a man, eh?
Bobby cuts well, but doesn’t style very well (at least not my hair, his words, not mine). He doesn’t take credit cards and is a technophobe, so no email availability or wifi. He doesn’t do cutting edge or trends, so don’t bother coming to him for your Brazilian blowout. He won’t do ethnic hair, so Asian and black folks, go elsewhere. He doesn’t take children or do any sort of walk ins, they are beneath him. If he doesn’t want to take on clients and if you refer them, he may not bother with the courtesy of calling them. He’s likely to ignore them completely and then tell you off for recommending him (as he has done with other clients). His moods change on a dime and he can be pretty nasty one day and great to be around the next.
There are other stylists in the shop. Maria is absolutely lovely, does a great job and is bilingual in Portuguese and another new lady who I am not familiar with. Bobby owns the salon, so who knows if his whims to get rid of customers extends to the ladies who rent from him. If you work with one of the ladies in the salon, best to get their mobile numbers in case Bobby starts getting rid of stylists the next time he needs a change.
