On days when my company doesn’t provide catered lunches to the office, Aramark Stadium Café has been my go-to spot for a quick bite. It’s your typical cafeteria style food with selections from the grill, stir/pan fry section(not necessarily Asian), salad bar, sandwich station, daily soups, etc. Both breakfast and lunch are served here. Earlier this week, I ordered a stir fried entrée consisting of noodles(couldn’t tell if it was chow mein or yakisoba style), thin slices of beef, a variety of fresh veggies, and chili garlic sauce. OMG, I should have watched the lady prepare my meal, because when I got back to my desk and opened up my to-go container, all I saw was RED! She added so much of the chili garlic sauce that the meal was fiery spicy hot and completely inedible. Three bites and I was done. Granted it cleared up my sinuses and stuffy nose from the cold I was suffering from this week, this meal was a complete disappointment and a waste of my time and money. I should have taken the food back and complained, but I was too busy with work and told myself this would be the last time ordering from that particular station. Seriously, they need to hire trained chefs for that section who know how to cook! I’ll take Panda Express over this food anytime, LOL! When I went by there today to get some hot soup(Minestrone, which wasn’t bad and had a good mix of pasta, tomatoes, and other veggies in a mildly spicy broth) and an orange for vitamin C to combat my cold, I noticed that the grill line was the longest, and ironically, no one was in line for the stir/pan fry station. Such a tell-tale sign that stir frys are not their forte and that this establishment needs significant improvement in that area. And I’ll be skipping their plastic wrapped donuts, too. Come on, really? Lesson learned for me is that I’ll stick with the grill going forward, which has been a pleasant experience with their decent burgers, cheesesteak sandwiches, grilled paninis, French fries, and onion rings. And again, their soups and salad are other OK options. Otherwise, I’ll need to start bringing lunch from home or going out of the office on those non-catered lunch days…
