I was really looking forward to this, but must have ordered the wrong thing… I had the rainbow noodles and the samosa salad, to get something different from tea leaf salad. Meh. They both tasted like exactly the same thing and had the same yellow hue. Service was friendly and fast, but I wouldn’t make the extra effort to come here.

This is a very noisy small place. They have quite a few choices on the menu, though with some repetition. The dish I got was way too spicy. In fact, other than being very spicy, it did not have much other flavor. With all the noise and too spicy food, I lost my appetite. Unfortunately, the servers did not pay to much attention to us. I had to wave aggressively at one of them to make him notice. I asked for the check. He forgot. I then stood close to the exit and demanded they let us leave immediately. Of course, no tip for them.

Staff is really friendly and always have my take-out ready on time! My routine is always the same: — Tea Leaf Salad — Roti Platha + Chicken dip The fish dishes are great. We tried the Chicken Biryani — don’t expect an Indian taste to it, it’s slightly tangy and sweet because of raisins. The Garlic Fried Rice is o-kay.

Glad that the burmese food scene is expanding, especially to the South Bay. This place is super low key, in an easy to park strip mall, with low traffic. We started with the tea leaf salad, and honestly I have never had a tea leaf salad I did not like. It was super refreshing and perfect for a summer evening. We also had the Samosa Soup, Vegetarian Curry and the vegetarian version of the #18 noodles. The first two were a-okay. The Samosas in the soup were not the Indian Samosas, but resemble a falafel. I did not like them as they were too dry, and overall the soup was very heavy. I also did not enjoy the curry, it tasted like Indian Sambar. I did really enjoy the noodles, they were a really unique flavor and the onions and cilantro added a really amazing touch. I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars but decided to round up because the service was great, the bathroom was clean, and that tea leaf salad was amazing!

Great quality food, fast and great prices. We got the tea leaf salad, fish soup, goat stew, samosa’s, and palata and dip. Ate it family style for three people and it left us feeling full but not crazy stuffed. The samosa’s are pretty standard, everything else was really, really good. First time having goat and it’s kind of like lamb and beef in terms of taste and texture, gamey but we like that.

Food has no taste! The curries aren’t very good. The noodles are bland and the coconut rice was below expectation. I won’t be coming back here to eat.

I first tried Burma during busy season(for auditing) so we had the food delivered to us. But I did come back with a friend a second time. Both times I got the tea leaf salad. When I came to the restaurant they mixed it for me, which I appreicated. The server also recommended some other dishes and desserts but my friend and I wanted boba after so we passed on the recommendations. He was really nice and made conversation with us. The food itself was good. My friend had never tried tea leaf salad but thoroughly enjoyed it. The tea leaves are a bit salty but that’s the same everywhere so just giving a heads up to anyone who decides to try the dish. The nuts that are also mixed in are also delicious and add a nice crunch.

Wow! Every dish that we ordered was fabulous. Order whatever you want — can’t go wrong. Came here with a group and ordered way too many dishes. It worked out because I got to try a dozen dishes and we took back leftovers to the office and fed those we left behind.

What an amazing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tea Leaf Salad, vegetarian style(minus the fish sauce n shrimp) So fresh and light with all sorts of crunchiness going on. Tossed table side with fresh squeezed lime. I’m a foodie at heart, however have never experienced Burmese food before. I can’t wait to bring my friends to this amazing restaurant!

I would have never thought to come here if I hadn’t had a taste of it at work. It was catered for lunch one day and I thought omg, I need to take my husband here! I put a dot next to all the food I enjoyed during that lunch as a reminder and before I knew it, I was at the restaurant with my husband eating yummy Burmese dishes! We ordered: Burmese tea(a version of the well known Thai Iced Tea) Tea Leaf Salad Mango Tofu Garlic Noodles Chicken Biryani Everything was delish, service was great… I am definitely coming back!!!

My parents came here, then took my sister and me when we were home for mothers’ day this weekend. Wow… what a find! This place is very small and family owned. It has been there for about a year. It is truly a hidden gem. I like it because this is food I could definitely not make myself. The mango chicken was my favorite. I recommend the chicken biryani too, and of course tea salad. I like that even the white rice had some jasmine in it. The flavors of Burmese cuisine are unique! Most of all, I recommend getting coconut juice from the FRESH coconut(not canned) then having them cut it for you, and eat the flesh. For me, that really made the meal. Everything was very well priced. Only tip is that if you are going with a group of 5+, call ahead and make sure they set a table up for you. Also, spicy means SPICY so be ready. We will be back!

Mmmmm, yum! I recently dined at Burma Bistro, and I left the restaurant only to find that I would like to return! This is probably my first time eating Burmese food, so I really didn’t know what to expect. Glancing through this large menu, I was salivating — curries, salads, chicken dishes, palata, and noodle soups? Oh my, this was going to be a great experience! And rest assured, it was! I tried the Moh Hin Ga(Fish Noodle Soup), since this dish is so heavily recommended on Unilocal. As a fish and noodle soup lover, this was literally bringing together my two favorite eats! YUMMY. It was like eating curry, but with noodles instead of rice! My friend also got the Palata(#1) in the Appetizers section. Almost like a Malaysian curry-type dish, sweetened so that you can for sure taste coconut in it, and it is also served with chicken bits. This is super great if you like bread and curry. This place also has a great price range too — not too expensive for dinners, so there is more for you to try! I also got the vibe(though this could be totally untrue) that this is family-run, and I believe this aspect is reflected in their cooking. I’m excited to come back and try more dishes! I noticed that they had a Chicken Biryani dish, and having recently visited India, I am SO excited to try this! So far, I’m loving what I see, and I can’t wait to come back!

My first time at a Burmese restaurant, I can’t judge for its authenticity. Still I am providing my personal opinion to the experience when dining there. I was pretty exciting seeing a Burmese restaurant and wanted to try it. Not knowing the dishes, so the picture of Chicken Shrimp Dan Bawk caught my attention so I ordered one. Saw the Burmese Iced Tea on the menu, so ordered one as well from my curiosity. Well, the tea was like Thai Iced Tea. You can’t tell the difference at all. For the dish, it was fine, good amount of shrimp and chicken, the the flavor was kinda plain. The setting was ok; nothing fancy and fine to eat and move on. The service was decent as you may expect from any small Asian restaurants. So it was an ok experience without anything standout.

Came on a rainy Friday afternoon, and the restaurant wasn’t that crowded, so 6 of us were seated immediately. I ordered the Fish Noodle Soup and it was pretty good. Not a lot of fish though. The noodles were rice noodles. The soup was very flavorful. My friends ordered the tea leaf salad and spicy chillies lamb and all of them looked pretty good.

Decent Burmese food for a strip mall in Santa Clara. Ambiance: small and tight Service: efficient but a little slow if it’s busy. Flag them down for water. Food: just ok. I’d say the tea leaf salad was your standard across Burmese restaurants. You can’t really go wrong. Great flavors and textures. Garlic noodle was slightly anemic as the noodles were a bit rubbery. If you have a picky kid, they’d probably be ok with this dish due to the mild flavor. Shrimp Dan Bauk was good; rice and shrimp were cooked well. A bit too spicy for my sensitive palate though. I got a free juice with Unilocal check-in. Parking: super easy and plentiful at a strip mall

Delicious and homey. Located in a nondescript strip mall across from the Target/Sprouts plaza on El Camino, Burma Bistro offers strong versions of classic dishes. Although we were the only table(Monday nights tend to be slow), there were lots of DoorDash pickups. The space is clean and the service kind and attentive. The two of us ordered(and devoured) palata and dip, coconut chicken noodle soup, goat stew, basil chicken, and tea leaf salad. Since they were out of white rice, they gave us complimentary coconut rice. A great gem on El Camino Real — will definitely be back!

I was here last Friday. Burma Bistro was the best Burmese food I ever had, better than Burma Superstar, and some others. If you check in on Unilocal, you get a free drink for now. A coconut water is just the thing to cleanse your palate between bites of the family style dishes. First things first, the Tea Leaf Salad and Roti Prata(I don’t know what you call that crispy flat cake in Burmese) are staples. The Tea Leaf Salad’s a national dish, of course you’re going to get it, right? No pressure. It’s only that you get like 10+ different ingredients in a salad, and it leaves a satisfying *crunch* I also got the goat stew. Mmm, goat. It’s nice and tender and goes well with coconut rice. As for the noodle soups, I’m not a fan. I usually like noodles al dente, but these are overcooked IMHO. But hey, the server Soe gave me some green tea ice cream. Is it real green tea? I can’t tell. But 5 stars for hospitality. The ambiance was just right too. The dining room had great lighting, paintings, and cultural artifacts lining the walls. It makes me a fan.

Tea Leaf Salad? What is a tea leaf salad? If today’s food was any indication, a pretty decent, if slightly oily mix of nuts, basil, seeds, and a cabbage green. That categorized all of today’s food, pretty decent — not great, not terrible: Fiery Tofu Vegetables: Tofu pieces that were slightly overcooked, with not much sauce. They used the firm tofu and included some tasty peppers and green beans. I liked the sauce, but it accentuated the veggies more than the tofu. Garlic noodles with tofu: This tofu was actually better than the real tofu dish, but the noodles were sub-par and weirdly chewy. I think there were tiny peanuts, but they were quite underwhelming. Rice: Dude, it was rice. Sauce stuff: There was also some sauce, topping-like item, with onions that tasted like the veggies were coated in a light wonton dipping sauce. I’m not too familiar with Burmese food, but this was neither a wonderful, nor terrible, first taste. This review is just like the food — nothing special. Wow me next time, please, and you’ll be delightfully«wowed» with better words.

Finally checked out this place today for lunch. We were seated right away and our waitress took our order and brought the food out pretty quickly. We ordered: Samosas: 4⁄5 oily, crunchy, filled with potato and vegs Palata: 3⁄5 kinda of like naan but super thin. Coconut dip was ok. Coconut soup: if you love coconut this is the soup for you. Very strong coconut flavor. Ramen noodles, onions, egg, chicken and something crunchy. Mango chicken: 4⁄5 not too sweet, probably my favorite item. Served with a bowl of white rice. Garlic noodles: 3⁄5 don’t expect the Chinese version. These are flat long noodles. Good taste but I prefer Chinese garlic noodle. Overall the food was decent. Service was really good. Prices are on the higher end for Asian food.

**OKBURMESEFOODINCASUALAMBIANCE** Chose this spot for a family of 3. No reservations required on a Monday night. PARKING ======== Strip mall and plenty of spots. AMBIANCE ========= In an old strip mall, the place was a bit deary, borderline divey. Bad lighting, outdated furniture. Nothing romantic or a place you would hang out. RATING: 2⁄5 FOOD ===== PALATAANDDIP — $ 6 Multi-layered bread with coconut chicken curry sauce. A bit overpriced for what it was. Some dipping bread with a very small bowl of curry sauce. RATING: 3⁄5 COCONUTCHICKENSOUP — $ 9 Very flavorful, but too rich. Couldn’t finish it, but tasted good the next day. RATING: 3.75÷5 SERVICE ======== The owner was a one-man show. He was efficient and got things done. However, the kitchen staggered our dishes, my dad didn’t get his dish until 10 minutes after ours. RATING: 3.5÷5 PROTIP ======= Check-in for 10% off bill. OVERALL ======== It’s a good dining spot for Burmese food in Santa Clara if you don’t mind the somewhat divey ambiance. RECOMMEND for those craving non-fussy Burmese food in Santa Clara.
