My husband and I went in on a Sunday to just look at getting a battery-​powered hybrid bicycle. I wanted a good enough bike to allow for some serious exercise, but with a little «kick» so I could keep up with him on hills when we do a long ride. Doug had me test ride several bikes until I found the perfect one. He couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. After Nate did all the assembly (racks, fenders, lights, etc), I returned the next day to pick it up. I realized after I got home that the lock I had purchased wasn’t in the fender pack. Nate dropped it off at our house the next day! When we can give business to these independent operators, who bend over backwards to please customers, we are happy to do so. We are fortunate to have this business in our area.

I just want to say that I’m glad I bought my Magnum I-​MAX S1 scooter here with the help of Nate. I wasn’t being rushed to immediately make a purchase and they offered many different options within my budget as well as suggestions. I was also able to test-​ride the floor model scooter to see how I would be able to handle it. It may be a small little shop, but they offer many high-​end bikes etc which was perfectly fine with me because I can see everything by just standing at certain angles. I’m definitely coming back here for anything electric bikes + scooters.
Note: I use this scooter for tackling those notorious San Francisco hills.

This place sells really high end electric bikes, but I actually contacted them in hopes they could repair my wife’s electric scooter, which had been a conplete nightmare to deal with. Initially took it to Scooterland, where the owner was extremely rude and did further damage.
I really feel fortunate that I found this place, the employee that helped us was extremely personable, thorough, and most importantly honest. The bike was returned to us in great working condition at a very reasonable price.

My new go to place for my electric bike! The mechanic helped me out with my DIY set up. I was also having problems with the battery, so I had the manufacturer contact him to have the problem resolved. They sent him a new part and he installed it into the battery with ease! My motor also came with a 26″ wheel, but unfortunately my bicycle is a 29er. Not a problem. I took the wheel in and Nate had it respoked to the larger size once I took the parts in. I don’t know much about the competitor’s pricing, but every time I picked up the tab, the price was always a lot less than what I was expecting. Riding like a charm now! Recommend +++ will be returning for any other issues

I just rode my Pedego Interceptor home, approx. 8.5 miles and I’m in love. I’ve been researching ebikes for a couple of years and when I went to ELV, Doug was very knowledgable and low key. He let me test as many bikes as I wanted and gave me the lowdown on each. Doug was great to deal with. He brought a bike in for me that he does’t normally stock, communicated with me when it was late coming in and put it together as soon as it arrived and let me know when it was done and ready to test. I couldn’t have had a better experience buying a bike!!! Go see Doug if you are looking for an eBike, he’s the best!

After 4 years of cycling my E– bike I like to add a few comments about ELV motors.
Experienced great service since I bought my E-​bike from Doug. Some minor problems during my 4 years were taken care of in a professional and pleasant way.
I would not hesitate for a moment to purchase an other E-​bike from them. I recently dropped by ELV motors and was pleasantly surprised about the interesting selection of E-​bikes they have available. Nate, the mechanic is always forthcoming with with assistance and is great in solving issues.

I have been riding electric bikes for years and the biggest challenge to me has been finding a knowledgeable mechanic. Even though I can’t afford to buy a bike from these guys, Nate the technician takes care of me. Thanks to Nate I can ride with confidence.

I own several electric bikes. Some of them have needed service, and until ELV nobody was available except the manufacturer. That required shipping the bike (expensive and potentially damaging) to the state or country the bike came from. Then I discovered ELV. The owner Doug is charming and knowledgeable, and his technician Nate is likewise. I have taken two of my bikes in for repair, and have been thrilled with their services, I cannot recommend them enough.

I bought Easy Motion — Volt. Doug is not a pusher. He explains all the options he has and matches your need and biking options, lets you test drive it and comeback for more. He knows the nitty gritty details and does not hold it back! Great experience.
Being an engineer myself, I am a tough customer. I was getting ready to work on buying a ebike, no time limits. Guess what! bought this in less then 2 hours of starting my shopping. Price compared!
After bring home, the batteries were not charging?! thought the batteries were defective and called Doug, he was willing to put in a replacement right away, that cooled me down. Then we figured, that I needed to press a small button on the charger for it to start charging! Feels stupid now! Hey life is busy and Manual helps.
He was ready to provide a loaner, floor model for free rental for a day for choosing my second bike! That is some customer service.
His accessories collection is limited! Well I think he knows Amazon and likes are too big a competitor. The shop itself is not big
I am a happy camper for now, its only about a month now. Driving my ebike ~16 miles a day to work. Enjoying the exercise that I get as well! I am charging only once for all of my workdays/​wk commute.

They also sell used ebikes! They are marked off by 50% or more, they looked new to me.

OK selection of reputable brand (Izip, Haibike) e-​bikes, but the attitude leaves something to be desired. They obviously haven’t been trained in customer service. Once mainstream joints like Mikes Bikes beef up their selection and realize how popular this mode of transpo is becoming, this shop will not flourish. The middle aged sales guy act like he’s doing you a favor taking the time to let you try out their multi-​thousand dollar bikes. Another guy we sent in also passed on buying there because they were «weird.» If I’m parting with 5k, I expect a better attitude.

It’s coming to the 1^st anniversary of my e-​bike. I had great service and customer care. In the 1^st 1200 miles i put on my BH e-​motion Neo Cross i have as commuter only the pedals gave me headache. They swapped them under warranty with absolutely no hassle. Highly recommended place if you are looking to switch to a pedals assisted e-​bike.

These guys are incredible. They’ve got every electric bicycle you can imagine which makes test driving fun and easy to compare. We spent an hour down there, today, and drove away with a new pedal-​assist bike we’ll use at Burning Man and in San Francisco for commuting. Everything about our transaction — the research, the test riding, the price — was great. We highly recommend ELV Motors to everyone in the Bay Area.

Purchased an electric tricycle for commuting to work and to do local shopping in Santa Clara in July 2013. The tricycle is human powered with a top speed in either pedal mode or when using the electric assist of 10 mph. Consequently it can legally used on the bike trails. This eliminates traffic lights where I need to go so the commute (s) are about the same as using the car. The basket on the rear can hold up to 50 lbs (2 25 lb bags of pet food for example).
The charging time is reasonable. Even if you run out of power you can still pedal. The bike has only one gear. I normally top off the battery the evening after using the bike for the day. I did purchase an extra charger I keep with the bike in case in need to top off when out and about. So far I have not needed to use it.
My wife can not ride a two wheel so we now have a bike she can use.

I bought a new 2013 Stromer ST1 Platinum Electric Bike from them and it absolutely rocks. Quality of service and product knowledge of electric bikes are top notch. They took the time to make sure that my new bike was set up correctly, and properly, with flawless installation on optional accessories and components. The shifting and set-​up of the drivetrain is also perfect without skipping a beat. I definitely will come back again to purchase another bike in the near future. I love my new e-​bike!

The employees at ELV Motors really care about their customers and provide excellent customer service. I bought a Velo Mini electric bike from them in 2011. The bike is my only transportation. When it broke down, Marie from Elv Motors met me at the train station so I did not have to walk 3 mi to the store. After it was fixed, she drove it to the train station to meet me. These simple acts of kindness saved me hours of time and frustration, and created goodwill for the business. I continued to be a customer, and recently bought a brand new bike from them only two years later. Marie’s helpfulness encouraged me to continue riding an electric bike as my only transportation and go to them when I need service.

ELV Motors is the place to go if your looking to buy an E-​Bike! After having a horrible experience purchasing an E-​Bike over the internet, I called up ELV Motors. They were very quick in responding to my call. I needed a bike that could get up the steep hills near my house. I purchased a bike from ELV Motors and when I tried to get up the hill by my house, it wasn’t strong enough. I called Doug back and he had me come back to try another bike which would serve my needs. I love my new bike!!! The staff at ELV Motors really care about customer satisfaction. Again if your looking to buy an E-​Bike, go through ELV Motors, you will not be disappointed!
