Cold day and was in the mood for Jajjangmyun. Since I was in the area, I decided to give Nak Kung — the only Chinese stall in the the entire food court — a try. Food took forever to come out despite nobody being there except me and this other lady. Fast forward 30 minutes, out came the saddest looking bowl of Jajjang noodles I had ever seen. The noodles were served with a few slices of yellow pickled daikon on the side. The onions and potatoes were barely there. There were tiny bits of pork hidden throughout which were sweet and delicious, but the rest was overwhelmingly dominated by the gooey, gloopy mess that was the black bean sauce. Overall, a disappointment. Portion was small and the price high — $ 8.xx for crappy quality? No thanks. The lady working behind the counter was rude too; I asked her what the difference was between #1 and #3 and she told me to just read it from the menu myself… uh, good luck if you can’t read hangul(Korean characters). I don’t think I’ll be coming back for any of their noodles since there are better options in the area. I would go to BBQ town, only a few steps away, for they serve much better food!

I tried this place twice and don’t go there again. Their foods are like instant food you can buy from Asian market and cook at home. Price is too much for the food quality.

The lady at the front counter taking food order is a total c*nt ice cold queen attitude. Acting she is too good to work there! Perhaps she might be the owner?! Typical stuck up Korean attitude! Who really give a flying Fu*k how good the food when service is sh*tty! Go figure their counter is slowest. Price isn’t a food court price(too high) but quality certainly is food court quality

It’s okay, dumplings were okay. I rather eat at BBQ Town.

Service is non existence. But for how much you pay, portions are pretty big compared to the other places in the food court. Their ja jang neon(black bean noodle) is not bad, but their jam ppong(spicy seafood noodle soup) is probably my favorite. It comes with mountain of seafood and veggies for 10 bucks, which isn’t bad. Ja Jang — pork, with pre made black bean sauce Gan Ja Jang — pork & shrimp, and everything is stir fried and served. I wouldn’t bother ordering their steamed dumplings. It was a soggy mess…

Really had a hankering to eat Jajangmyeon, even though I’ve never had it … must be all the other diners eating it and the Kdramas I keep watching– but that’s besides the point! I knew what I wanted and Nak Kung is the only place(I think) that makes Jajangmyeon in the food court. There wasn’t anybody available so I had to ring to let the person know I was even there. The food came out in a huge bowl, enough for two people to share but it was so good I didn’t want to in the end. A steaming hot bowl of chewy, thick noodles covered in a black bean sauce with pieces of potato, onion and pork. It has that slightly fermented kind of savory flavor to it. Absolutely awesome! I do wish I got the pickles on the side so it would cut the richness of it. Also it is pretty messy to eat, so be forewarned. Nonetheless my first Jajangmyeon experience was pretty good! Not a stellar review due to me having to call out the person working the place to take my order and there wasn’t really much service done. The food was good however for a decent price for the portion and quality.

Not bad! Ordered #1, jjajangmyeon with pork and potato(what pork? like 3 dinky pieces). The sauce and noodles were not bad at all. They didn’t give us pickled radish when we picked up our order, so we went back and asked for it. Portions are pretty big, just wish there was more meat. I have yet to try the best jjajamyeon, but if anyone knows somewhere that makes it better than Nak Kung and Zazang, please do let me know!

You walk in the front door and you are greeted with 5 different options. Normally i chose Nak Kung because I want some spam fried rice with fried chicken. The portion size for the fried chicken has been getting smaller and smaller but the rice portion is getting bigger and bigger. Hrmmm the dilemma, I do like spam fried rice; however, I wish the chicken didn’t keep getting smaller and smaller. Soon enough it will be non-existent. :(Anyways I’m going to try out BBQ next time since their portion sizes are bigger for the same price.

Nak Kung is located inside the Lawrence Plaza food court. Got the #3 Dry Soy Bean Noodles(jajungmyug? Unsure about spelling). When I asked what the difference was between the two soybean noodles #1& #3 the lady showed me a handy pre-written card with descriptions since she didn’t speak English very well. Turns out the #3 has pork and shrimp as opposed to #1 which has pork and potato. She then tells me #1 was sold out, I was a bit disappointed but went for the next logical option #3. Ordered the dish to go. I appreciate that they gave the sauce and noodles separate for to go orders. Only after getting home did I realize they didn’t give the pickled daikons that I enjoying eating along with this dish. Word to the wise, after reading Unilocal reviews I found you have to ask for the sides of daikon or Kimchi. The sauce was delicious. Better than I expected, with the right amount of pork, but could have used more shrimp. Don’t expect large pieces of shrimp, they’re small. Noodles were cooked just right.

Portions HUUUGE! Spam fried rice with some type of marinated meat is one of the best I’ve tasted here in this food court I enjoy BBQ town, but out of 5 – 6 dishes I’ve ate there, none was as delicious as Nak Kung spam fried rice with very flavorful meat, don’t know the name but there is a picture of it on their menu I’m so stuff now, too lazy to get up Sharing this dish with my friends Lawrence Plaza food court is awesome

Food is ok. Wouldn’t say it’s amazing but it’s just a food court. Disappointed that they forgot to give me the pickled reddish with my black bean noodles. That is a big minus for me.

This place sure knows how to hire food dressers to dress up food for their displays, because those things look they are from some Michelin star legit origins. I fell prey to the trap and was lured in like a fish caught on a reel. In reality, the actual food you get is of an acceptable caliber. It is not bad, but it is not good either. It is definitely of takeout/fastfood/to-go/lunch-bento quality, and not of a typical Korean sit-down restaurant, even though you still have to wait a good 10 – 15 mins for your food. Tried the bibimbap and bulgogi the only time I came and will probably come here. The bibimbap meal came with a lot of stuff, all really random though. If you like the little Korean side dishes, I think it would be good for you, except they aren’t bottomless like in actual sit-down Korean places. But for me, I just wanted the meat and veggies, so nothing special here. The bulgogi is decent, and came with some nice mushrooms that added to the flavor. The quantity of the meat was on the small-to-average end. Bottom line is that when it came to substance(aka meat and the goods), this place didn’t have all that much for what I paid, and I was still hungry I had to order another dish. Maybe I’m just fat.

When the urge for korean food hits and the wait for jang su jang is more than 1.5 hours, this place will definitely be a decent substitute. I ordered one of my favorite korean dishes, jajamyun, the black bean noodle.(~$ 9) I made the mistake in ordering the one without seafood, not knowing that it wouldn’t come with shrimp or any other seafood. So I’d recommend that you’re careful and clarify what’s in it. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it did the trick for a hungry belly. Overall, the place lost 2 stars because it took more than 15 minutes to get my food. The lady didn’t give me the included daikon or vegetables that were on the picture in the menu when I ordered take out. For $ 9, the portion isn’t too big, it’s like side of a takeout box full of noodle. Additionally, if you store this dish overnight and not finish it you will find the BIGGEST layer of FAT on the sauce. It’s super oily, the noodles are also super oily. So if you’re not a fan of the oil, I’d definitely recommend you hold off.

Black Bean Noodles! I have not tried anything else on the menu but the black bean noodles make for a quick, satisfying, affordable meal. The sauce could have used a bit more depth in its flavor profile but that’s a minor gripe. I liked potatoes in the dish but thought that it could have used a bit more meat considering the noodle ratio. They give you kimchi and pickled radishes as side dishes if you ask for it. Not a bad choice to go with if you’re deciding what to eat in the food court.

My best friend and I adore this place! We live in San Jose but we drive here to feed our Jja jjang myun and sweet and spicy pork cravings! We always order #3 which is the seafood jja jang myun about $ 10 including tax. It is a huge portion and feeds two people. The best black bean noodles I ever had, these are the black bean noodles that got me liking black bean noodles in the first place. My friend and I always search for other places that sell it but all cannot compare to this place at all. The sauce is thick and full of shrimp and veggies and the noodles are fat, long and chewy– just how I like it! We also order #13 which is Yang Nyum Chicken or Sweet and spicy chicken! Nom nom nom! We order the lunch size and it takes two of us to finish it. Crunchy, sweet well seasoned and awesome red pepper flavor. Perfect combo with the seafood black bean noodles. The lady who works there is really sweet and friendly as well. Honestly, I would come here almost everyday if it was closer to my house. I hope this place stays open for a long time because its #3& #13 are so good! Order them together, its the perfect combination !

Horrid. Just horrid. What happened!!! Well, all right. + The noodles are still good. I’m not sure if they still hand-pull them. However… — Nasty seafood(falls apart) and meat(disgustingly chewy) quality. It’s actually inedible. — WAY too much MSG and salty seasonings in the sauces and soup. — Dumplings were cold inside. — Service is nonexistent. — My fellow diners and I always get sick the same day after eating here. Coincidence? Running out of stars to deduct, yo. Bring back the old Nak Kung on De Anza! :-(

Not a huge fan of this food court food wise, but it’s a good place for a relatively large group, all with different minds and tastes. For me, the best bang for the buck for Korean food out of all of these restaurants. A fair amount of choices of all of your classic Korean choices, a good portion for your buck, and food comes out relatively fast. I like the spicy tofu here — don’t ask me why. It’s salty, spicy, and slightly tangy and sweet. Kind of white washed but it’ll warm you up on a cold day!

I still miss the original location right around the corner from my home, but if needed, I’ll come here at times. It still doesn’t hit the spot, and you’re at the very loud and crowded food court, but this is the only spot I’ll pay money for at any of the eating places at Lawrence Food Court. They do give you a ton of food, easily shared, and I do like the spicy shrimp dish they have. Their jja jjang myun and jjamp bong is okay, but it’s nothing like the hand pulled noodles they used to serve at their restaurant. I know, I need to get over it. It’s been over a year, but still… I reminisce. Prices are very fair, and it’s good for take out if you want to enjoy at home.

Surprisingly REALLY good jajangmyeon for a food court joint. Very chewy, very tasty, huge portion and better than how a lot of «real» restaurants make them. JONASAPPROVED!

Food was good but service was less than good. At lunch it can be hard to find a table in the general dining area but there’s plenty of parking in the private lot. We spent over $ 35 at Nak Kung on four entrees for 4 adults and 3 kids. Ordered the following: –Chicken Chow Mein –Zajjeng mein(dan dan noodles) –Combo jabchae, pot stickers, rice –dumping combo(veg, kimchi, and pork) I’d rate the food around 3.5 –4 stars. They give you pretty big portions, but then again you’re paying $ 8−10/entrée at a food court… you kind of expect a decent serving size. This normally would have been a 4-star review for me but unfortunately, the stinginess and rudeness drops their overall rating down to 2. I asked for 6 forks but the young man working behind the counter said the most he could give me is 4. WTF?!? I told him I had 7 people. He kept saying he could only give me 4. Then I went back to get paper plates because we were doing family style with the 4 large dishes. I asked for 6 plates(we bring our own small bowl and spoon for our toddler) and he said he can only give me 4 plates. I said«We ordered 4 entrees from your store, I need 6 plates». His reply was«I’m only allowed to give you 4 plates». WTF again! So back at the table…4 people have plates of food while the other 2 are just sitting there thinking of ways to be creative. Finally my wife goes back there and comes back with 2 plates. There should be a sign at the front that says«BYO_» — fill in the blank with plates, forks, etc Them trying to save a nickel by not giving out a couple of plates and forks have cost them my business. Needless to say I WILLNOTBEBACK. There are 4 – 5 other food vendors at this food court so I will bring my business elsewhere…
