I am visiting this area for only three weeks and I stumbled upon the Gastropub quite by mistake. I was looking for a breakfast place and decided to try their French Toast. It was excellent! Not your traditional one though. It is crispy and moist in the middle served with a fruit compote and excellent breakfast potatoes. Lisa and Jen, my servers on three different visits, were friendly and accommodating(I like my bacon a certain way and they made sure that is how I got it!). Not to mention that the coffee is excellent as well… a fresh pot was made available every time! I reserve 5 stars for gourmet… this place is a keeper!

Woke up late for brunch and 42nd Street was the only place we could find in proximity with no wait. The restaurant is pretty nice but I don’t think I would come for brunch again… doesn’t really seem to be their specialty. Friends and I ordered a variety of different breakfast options ranging from french toast(mine) to benedicts and biscuits/gravy. Despite being one of the only tables in the restaurant at the time, food took nearly 35 minutes to show for 5 plates… a bit long in my opinion. Presentation of the dishes was pretty nice though. In regards to my french toast… it was definitely a hefty plate. 2 thick(THICK) cuts of toast cut diagonally then coated in cereal and deep fried served with my choice of bacon and their house potatoes… I barely touched half. The french toast was pretty good, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but too oily in my opinion. The leftovers I had definitely showed it, it was coated in solidified oil the next day. I could only finish 2 of 4 slices — wish they had a half option. The sides were average, nothing too special.

Walked in and found myself jammed up in a line 5 people at the hostess stand — next to the sign that says«Please Wait to Be Seated». Meanwhile there over 10 tables currently open. In the span of about 3 minutes, 3 staff members walked by us and said nothing. We begin to look at one another wondering… what’s going on? After another minute, I walked up to a staff member and asked if we could begin to be seated. His reply«We’re cleaning tables now» To which I replied you have tables everywhere… how about seating us and then clean the other tables… the tables don’t mind waiting… but we do?” He just looked at me and walked on. After another minute… a party of 3 in front of me said, «Lets just go to Lazy Dog Café next door». And with that… we all did the same.(and all three parties we’re greeted promptly and seated) And the greater consequence is 1) non of us will every return and 2) we will advise others not to even bother.(and no matter how much effort and money you put towards advertising… word of mouth will always trump a colorful brochure… or even discounts) So for the ownership/management team, here are 3 simple questions to keep top of mind that can enable you to fix your challenges and create customer advocates: 1) How do you train your staff on «how-to» demonstrate to your customers that you are Eager, Able and Happy to Help.(and place special emphasis on Happy) 2) How do you ensure #1 is demonstrated and sustained over the long term?(As in, becomes your operating culture) 3) When it comes to your service, how do you truly authenticate that it is better than your competition. It is not enough to be good… you have to aim at be better than.

— Overall a solid 3 — 4 Stars for happy hour everyday especially from 9pm-close! Decent selection of beers and apps that are fairly priced. — Bangers and Mash entrée was just ok. Brussels were well cooked and the brat had good flavor but the dish was overall too salty. Even after splitting it with my gf we still couldn’t finish it. Mash was thick and dry. The Bacon in the brussels was a nice touch but the walnuts in there kinda threw me off. — Mac & Cheese was too bland. The cheese was too runny and didn’t have that extra gooey texture that I wanted. Don’t recommend it. — I’d only come back for a quick bite and a beer during happy hour.

I gave it 2 stars for one major reason. This place is not a gastropub!!! Beware of you are looking for the Gastropub experience, this is not it. If they would have kept it a deli I would happily give 4 stars food is great but not gastropub quality, beer is not gastropub quality. Very disappointed. Will not show up if I want to drink.

Alert Alert Alert. Finally, a non chain restaurant that has a huge menu to please all and our group of foodies loved everything we ordered. I can finally say that I’m not going to get a gourmet burger out in the SCV unless I come here. They also have a great selection of beer on tap and they have a reverse happy hour. Certainly worth a try and to top if off, you’re supporting a locally owned business. I love their outside seating and they are dog friendly too. I have to say I never saw 42nd Street in any local ads and never knew it was there, they should advertise for sure, everyone should see their menu full of great meals.

Had lunch with my family here today and loved it! Husband was happy watching the Dodger game, daughter was happy to sit at a «barrel» table, and for me it was ALL about the food! We had spicy hot wings(a bit on the salty side), fish(enough for an army!) & chips, chicken fingers(Yum!) and the Garden Burger had so much flavor it quickly became one of my all time fav’s! One thing that stood out was the first beer listed was the Wolf Creek Golden Ale, made right here in Valencia… how awesome is that! Love the local feel!

Customized orders for all meals but forgot the shrimp on one. Food is great, plate presentation… not so much. Our waiter was super friendly — defiantly deserves to be paid more for all he did for us! Sent the crab cakes back and they came out amazing.

Great burgers! We went during lunch and it was quiet but nice. Our server(unfortunately didn’t get her name but she had red hair) was new but she was very sweet! For an appetizer we got the garlic edamame– it was okay it just needs more red chili flakes and less oil. The pub burger is the best! The sweetness of the red onion marmalade with the flavorful meat is fantastic! The burger bun was great and the other stuff in the burger complemented the meat wonderfully! This is definitely my favorite burger. The garden burger was okay. It could be a bit more flavorful but it was good. Only note– their menus are very inconsistent. Sometimes I get a full menu but most of the time I don’t. Overall this is a great new restaurant with fantastic burgers and service!

I’ve been coming here for weeks and haven’t had a single bad dish, from burgers to sandwiches to breakfast. The Not Your Average Joe burger is amazing with a great chili/coffee run on the patty, and the French Toast is simply the best in the valley. If the full order of French Toast(4 slices) is a bit much for you, there’s an unlisted side of French Toast(2 slices). I have one complaint, and it’s that they seem to be slow to re-order beer when they run the kegs out, but with a selection of their size to choose from, it’s not even worth removing a star.

Walked in here around 2 p.m. just in time for happy hour. I was seated quickly, the place was pretty much dead, and I asked about the happy hour menu. There were good prices and items. $ 3 Margaritas? Sign me up, except when I tried to order it I was told they didn’t have tequila to put in the margaritas. Really? They have a bar and no tequila? Talk about being unprepared. So I just settled for water and ordered the truffle butter fries. They were good and had a big portion only $ 5 during happy hour. My waitress was very nice and she told me a couple of dishes that were most popular. Me being the breakfast lover that I am I just had to order French Toast.(BTW Breakfast served all day how awesome!) It comes with sausage or bacon and some potatoes. Once I got it I quickly realized that I would definitely need a to go box. Everything was pipping hot which is a good thing. They serve the french toast with butter, syrup, and preserves. Everything is on the plate so you can add it on or eat it plain, which is nice. I took a bite and I was in heaven. It was crispy and it was hot and sweet. The preserves really brought it all together and it was just a home run of a dish I would totally come back for it. The sausage was very good and big(they give you 2) I didn’t even get to taste the potatoes because I was so full after eating two pieces of the french toast but they smelled yummy. Their Restroom could use some up keeping there was toilet paper everywhere and a broken soap dispenser but I’m just nit picking. I was waiting for my boyfriend and I stayed there for about an hour and I didn’t get kicked out and my waitress was very understanding so that was very nice! I saw the burgers and they are HUGE. I would have to try it next time. Overall a great experience just a bummer I couldn’t have a margarita.

Took my daughter out for her 21st birthday and decided to go a new place in the Valencia Town Center Mall everyone was talking about: 42nd Street Gastropub. We sat at the bar and noticed a great selection of beers on tab! Plenty of TV monitors throughout to watch your favorite sporting event. They have a diverse menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Specials everyday during the week. Our appetizers and choice of entrees were delicious! Want something not on menu? If they have the ingredients they will kindly make it for you. Since then I have come back twice with friends and they are now hooked. All the employees are friendly and helpful. If your in the neighborhood give them a try!

Came in for a burger, they have no regular burgers only specialty burgers. Flip menu is a joke and is not sanitary as they are paper and can’t be cleaned. Beer selection seems to be a rip off collection from the newhall refinery and wolf creek. No happy hour menu, had to be verbally explained to us and the server was more confused that we were. I don’t think I’ll be back. Settled for some appetizers, review possibly to follow.

Ok, been eating here since it was Dinks, and I’m a long time fan of Dinks. However as a full service restarant, thus place still has a long way to go. The menu change merely sacrificed quality for higher prices. But the food is still good… This place has the same problems as it had when it was Dinks. The servers are inattentive, forgetful, and generally appear to be hung-over no matter what day or time. To the management: when you don’t see your servers on the floor for 20 minutes, there’s a problem.

Yesterday we had the privilege of dining here. We had a great time, and food was great! We have lived in SCV for less than a year and haven’t had much success with dinning out, especially having two little ones. We were greatly impressed. Our server, I believe her name was Chrissy was so sweet and very accommodating. We will definitely be back! We ordered the caprese salad, turkey burger and the 42nd st burger. So awesome!

I really wanted to like this place. I should have checked it out on Unilocal before we went in. We originally headed this way thinking it was still Dink’s deli and I was looking for a good pastrami sandwich. We were surprised to find the«just opened» 42nd Street Gastropub in its place. The change is so recent that the signs around the mall still read Dink’s. Still, the small menu looked tasty, so we decided to give it a try. The beer selection was good and prices reasonable. Oddly the cocktails were made with something called 20% vodka. I’ve never heard of this. Doesn’t sound like much of a cocktail. But, draft was served nice and cold in a frosty glass. We were off to a good start. We ordered the Irish Stout Onion soup. The soup itself was tasty and bold. Unfortunately the smoked gouda on top felt like an afterthought. The cheese didn’t cover the bowl, and it wasn’t melted enough. I ordered the steak sandwich minus mushrooms, and my wife the calamari. Both arrived in a reasonable amount of time and we’re nice and hot. However, the steak sandwich included the aforementioned mushrooms. The waitress apologized and took it back to be replaced. Unfortunately this meant that my wife and I effectively had lunch separately, as she was done by the time my new sandwich arrived more than ten minutes later. The calamari was obviously a frozen, out of a bag product. It tasted OK, but it certainly wasn’t fresh or unique. Isn’t that sort of the point of a gastropub? The replacement steak sandwich was obviously freshly cooked, points for that. But the balsamic onions overpowered the quite tasty sliced flank steak, and the bun wasn’t quite up to the task of containing it, making for a very messy sandwich. I hate to say it, but the restaurant looks like a quick re-skin of the deli. It sort of smacked of a desperate re-brand to save a failing location. It’s as if Dink’s closed Saturday and reopened as 42nd Street Gastropub Sunday. Nothing looked updated, in fact some parts of the restaurant were quite worn, including some torn seating. The management needs to invest in some training. Our waitress was very nice, fairly attentive, but wasn’t familiar with all of the menu. They need to make sure serving staff have sampled every item on the menu. In the end, it was not worth the $ 53 + tip bill. I could get the same at TGI Fridays for $ 30. Good concept for this location, but I fear with inattentive management and frozen food, it will fade away quickly.

This place used to be Dinks Deli, we never had any problems with the service, food, management etc. My wife and I decided to grab some breakfast at 42nd Street Gastropub, we didn’t know that it changed names and what not, we tried it anyways and let me tell you, I wish we didn’t! Juan was our server, didn’t know the menu very well, asked for hot tea, didn’t know if they had that and before checking in the kitchen he said that McDonalds has hot tea… okay. I ordered their ham and egg platter with a side of fruit, my wife ordered a breakfast burrito with potatoes on the side. For what they are charging for my plate($ 9.75)…I felt that my portion was very small and not worth the money at all, the burrito that my wife ordered,($ 12.50) and funny to think, McDonalds and other fast food places give you bigger burritos than this place. Once Juan gave us our bill, I was blown away that they charged us $ 4.00 for EACH hot tea… that’s ridiculous… I first asked Juan how many eggs are in my dish usually, he said that they vary and sometimes 1 egg or could be as many as 3 eggs… I then asked him if that was the correct price for the hot teas and he said yep, and then walked to the kitchen. Back to the service, they had no team work, no communication, every man and women for themselves it seemed like, the manager(that’s if they were even there) was MIA… We had a very poor and disappointing time here, we will never come back here!

I usually don’t write reviews but I just had to for this place. Try at your own risk! Food was ok when it came that’s why they get 2 stars but I’ll never go back there — food took forever! — had to ask for new fries since the fries tasted as if they were sitting for a while. Service was bad — no team work or communication at all from the staff. The staff even left dirty tables around us the whole duration we were there walking by them as if it was ok. One staff member even took the plates from guest outside and just put the plates on a table near us and left it there. Seriously clean it up — it is not ok! We even saw other guest complain about the wait and service also. This can be a good place if they train their staff better and make sure they understand customer service brings back guest not dirty tables and food that takes forever!
