Ever heard the term always late but worth the wait? That’s Dan Medlen JR. He is so dam good people line up to use his services. This guy knows all the tax laws and can safely get you the best return. If you want the on time service go to H&R block and get quicker service but less money. If you want more money but have patience, Come here, Because once Dan is working on your taxes he is a First String. For those of us that waited for Dan to come thru he delivered, And so what if I had to wait. Imagine the hands on dedication he supplies once he is working on your file, and if he has to ignore some calls to focus on your stuff then we all must wait our turn. Good things are worth the wait.

Can I give negative stars? I went to high school with this guy so I thought I’d give my business to someone I actually know. What a mistake. My first appointment was cancelled. They called my cell as I was getting in my car, asked for Diana (my name is Kelli) and said they would need to reschedule. They tried to reschedule for the end of April but I got an appointment before April 15^th. I arrived for my appointment and sat there with my 5 year old daughter for over an hour. It was the receptionists first day (she told me) so obviously they cant keep staff or customers. After an hour and about 5 updates of «he’s down the street,» I pick up my sh*t and go. Guess who’s smoking a cigarette downstairs? Lol On my way out he asks if I’m leaving and I say yes I’ve been waiting over an hour. He says «it’s been a tough year.» what the?!? Not even a halfhearted «I’m sorry.» He just smirked and kept smoking his cigarette. Not sure how they’re still in business since he pulled the same scenario on 2 of my friends. I went to H&R Block. Save yourself the drama and do the same!

This review is for Dan Medlen Jr. — Not to be confused with Dan Medlen Sr. who operates off Soledad Canyon in Santa Clarita.
Dan Medlen is the most unprofessional of all CPA’s I’ve ever encountered. He is a good CPA — meaning he knows the tax code and laws — but he runs his business like it was a taco stand. I’ve been his client for 5 years and every year he did my taxes on time and thoroughly. This year, ever since he moved to the new location, he has been a). unreachable by any means of communications b). ignoring calls and emails c). not showing up to appointments scheduled well in advance.
He bumped me from our first appointment without setting a follow up date. For the whole week before April 15 I called several times daily. Finally when someone picked up I couldn’t talk to him directly but was told that he was going to file an extension. I don’t know if he did or not. I set an appointment for May, took half-​day off from work to meet with him and then 5 minutes before our appointment was called by his assistant/​wife that he won’t be there and to reschedule. Unfortunately I don’t have that kind of luxury. On the phone they were very unprofessional and hung up in the middle of the sentence when I called them «unprofessional» essentially proving the point. Subsequent attempts at contacting them failed.
Now I have to find a new CPA and potentially deal with late fees and penalties. If you want your taxes done at all — don’t go to this guy. While I’m sure he knows his craft — he can’t run a business worth a damn.
