I have never called a place so many times for them NOT to be open. I really would like to try their food but they don’t have a consistent time for being open.

Food was delicious. I liked that I was able to substitute plantains for more beans or rice. Wish it had a better location because I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food and it’s so tucked away, the place was dead. Hope more people find out about this place! Bring your own alcohol ! Never heard of a place that allows that

The Hidden Havana Cuban Café impresses me each time I eat here. As the last reviewer mentioned, I can’t believe that this place isn’t packed all the time. If you give this restaurant a poor review you’re an idiot, period. I acknowledge that the service can be a little bit quirky, but the food is simply delicious. Every dish is well thought out and is the perfect blend of flavors. If you like spicy then request extra green sauce, yummy. the salad, empenadas, Cuban sandwich, everything is fantastic.

My wife and I are sitting here at Hidden Havana and we are the only ones here. I just finished the empanadas and chili rellenas appetizers and I can’t for the life of me figure out why this place isn’t packed. Both were absolutely delicious. We have cuban sandwiches on the way and if they are half as good as the appetizers we will be regulars here. Do yourself a favor and try this place. You won’t regret it.

Worst and most awkward service. Felt like I was a strangers house and not welcome. I was really looking forward to the rips vieja but we never got to even place an order they took so long. Unfortunate but probably not going back.

The Cuban food here is truly authentic and certainly the best in the Santa Clarita Valley. The restaurant is somewhat small and quaint and the staff is always warm and friendly. If you are hungry for Cuban food it’s a must stop when you’re in the Newhall area. Try the Iron Beer off the secret menu, it’s a non-alcoholic soda similar to a Coke but better — it’s a Cuban Coke. This place will not disappoint! Please note, they are currently not open on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday but it’s a standing room only the rest of the week. Well worth the wait!!!

Really is a hidden gem located in a office park of sorts, but definitely worth looking for. Service was good, was here for early lunch so had the place to ourselves. Started with a few appetizers and both empanada and papa rellano were very tasty. Lunch was marinated pork with onions, and the classic Ropa vieja both served with white rice and black beans and a couple plantain slices. Food was cooked exceptionally well with great Cuban flavors. Was very happy with Lunch, menu and portions are a little smaller than what you would find at Versailles, but prices were good and a much closer drive when I get the hankering for Cuban, Aloha

The empanadas from the appetizers were so crispy and delicious. I also had the grilled chicken sandwich with rice and beans that came out perfect and savory. Definitely going to come back and recommend to other people!

This place is not something I think of when I want Cuban food. I tried it once and will never go back. I have had homemade Cuban food from my old neighbors almost every night for years and that was Heaven. I rather drive to Burbank and eat at El Criollo Cuban Bar & Grill. Or drive to my old neighbor house and be in heaven. The black beans at this place taste like they are from a can. I don’t like my rice crunchy. The Roja Vieja just didn’t taste right.

Well despite the other Unilocaler’s reviews I went ahead to see if they were open… And yes I’m here, right now. Just placed my order with a nice server. Hidden Havana club indeed. Tucked between a bunch of medical like offices and a little strip mall, shopping center building. Anyway. Place is dead. Nobody in here. Set up is cozy. Got a nice Lil bar area, no beers on tap, no beer at all tho :/. A bunch of TV’s with the 4 – 5 o’clock news going. First order attempt was shot down, out of empandas :( . so got the cubano sandwich coming. Water has floaties in it… Update: cubano sandwich simple and delicious. Fried plantains-ewwy, ghewy, but a little to chewy… Overall not bad for the price. Was about $ 7.50 for a quick lunch. On the way out, the server told me I could bring beer with me next time I come in. Since they don’t serve beer. Lol Thought that was pretty funny.

Closed Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Would have loved to compare their potato balls to Porto’s of Glendale. The door was open but no service.

Seriously, if you’re going to run a business, BEOPENWHENYOUADVERTISEYOURSELFTOBEOPEN! Otherwise, you are wasting my time. Seriously. If you have to limit your hours, do so, but honor those hours because you care about the time and effort of your customers. Yes, I went to Hidden Havana during business hours, managed to find a parking spot and found the restaurant… only to find them closed. Waste of time. I will not be back. –Update– For the hilarious people who think we should try the food before giving it a one-star rating. Guess what, some of us tried that. The place is simply not always open when they say they will be open. I don’t know about you, but I value my time. At this point, I’d rather just go to Cuba for Cuban food than to try and find the HIDDEN Havana open again. The one star stays.

Schoolteacher and I had recently watched the movie ‘Chef’ on Netflix. Based upon the food featured in that movie, we both really wanted to try some Cuban food. After a quick search on Unilocal,Schoolteacher eagerly sent me this location as our next date night destination. When date night arrived, I excitedly drove over to Newhall to meet her there. True to their name, they are certainly exceptionally well hidden from Lyons street. I pulled into the plaza’s lot and drove around the parking lot several times. Eventually I gave up and parked, still not knowing where the place was, hoping I’d have better luck on foot. Which I did. I carefully followed signs through the Labyrinthian complex. I passed a yoga studio, and several other restaurants, none of which the one I was hunting for. Eventually I came upon the place, a pair of large outside tables flanked the doorway, their thatched roof styled umbrellas effectively hiding the title of the place. After careful examination, I found the name and discovered I was in fact at the right place. Turns out I had driven right past it. Twice. I entered and looked around. The place was smartly decorated, it seemed like I was outdoors, even though I was clearly indoors. Photos and paintings of old rusted Chevy’s in the streets of Cuba(I think?) hung around the place. A television or two hung quietly sharing the news with me. There were also zero other customers were in the place. I sat down at a table, and took in the ambiance for a lil bit. The waitress stood behind the bar while another employee sat at the bar, on his lunch break, eating. Both employees came to my table to greet me. They had seen me outside taking photos of the place, and wondered why. I nervously explained my Unilocal status, and their curiosity turned to excitement, and both began suggesting things for me to try. The employee eagerly suggested that I try the Empanada(Seasoned ground beef in a flaky pastry shell) and the Papa Rellena(Breaded potato ball stuffed with seasoned ground beef), stating that both were excellent and really well prepared. Soon, Schoolteacher arrived and while she quenched her thirst with my iced tea, I ordered the appetizers that were suggested to me, as well as another iced tea. While waiting for them to arrive, we investigated the menu, and discussed our time apart. The appetizers came out fairly quickly. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it was not two large items on a plate. It was certainly an interesting twist. We cut them in half easily enough, and tried them. They were really good, the Rellena also had mashed potatoes in there. It was great. We took a second and final look at the menu, she went with a Cubano(Roasted pork, ham, cheese, pickles & mustard), and I went with the Masasitas(Fried Pork Chunks in Garlic Sauce). Waitress took off to bring it to the guy in back. It had been an hour or so, and there were still no other customers in the place, so our food came out just as quickly as our appetizers had. The garlic pork was excellent, soft and tender and spiced. The bite of Cubano I had was also quite tasty. Now that I know where it is, I think I should be able to find it again. Unless of course the labyrinth around it shifts. Good job guys. I’ll probably be back.

Food is barely ok. Service is terrible. Plantain appetizer was dry and firm. I asked if they could cook it a little more, maybe caramelize it, and suddenly the waitress could no longer speak English. My English was perfect, hers was perfect, yet I had to ask 4 times and the waitress kept saying she didn’t understand me. Waited for 45 minutes for lechon asado(which simmers in a pot all day, no prep needed). It was alright, but nothing special. If you want good cuban food with decent service, you’re better off driving to Encino for Versailles. The food is great, the service is swift and friendly.

I was really questionable at first because I had never tried cuban cuisine before but I can assure any of those in doubt that the trip was totally worth it. It is a small hole In the wall but a hidden treasure once found. I decided to sample a few selections that they offered so I started off with the Papa Rellena and Madurros, very tasty and good portion for the price. For my entrees I decided to get the Cubano Sandwich, Sandwich de Bistec and the Bistec y Camarone. Let’s just say that I helped the dishwasher by sending them back clean plates. I would definitely recommend this establishment to any connoisseur of flavor and anyone with an appetite; I promise you that you will walk out with a full stomach and a desire to return.

It’s a damn shame when a restaurant’s bad reviews are completely based on the hours the restaurant keeps. Yes, I get this is part of the experience but perhaps we try the food before we lower the overall rating with a one star review. And yes, the place is neatly placed in a location that is challenging to find, but what do you expect from a place with Hidden in its name? But find it… and call before you go… because you will thank me… seriously…you will send me a private note, thanking me. The Papas Rellenos rival those from Portos… the meat us savory and flavorful… the potatoes are perfectly prepared… and the fry is ideal. The Cubano is excellent. And oh the Ropas Villejas… so good… so good. Next stop, Paella! If you want a realistic and flavorful Cuban experience… find Hidden Havana… call ahead, if you must, to make sure they are open… but go.

First time diner. We had some difficulty finding it, but it was totally worth the search! The empanadas and Papas Rellenas were really good! I’m used to Portos and Versailles, so the standard was high. For our main courses, I had Pollo Asado and my GF had Pollo a la Plancha. Both entrees were outstanding! The staff was very friendly and the best part was the price! Customers are getting high quality food for a VERY reasonable price. So, no more trips to the valley for good Cuban. Definitely a business worth supporting, so try it for yourself.
