For the life of me, I can not understand how anyone would consider this place to be a great place to get a hamburger. I consider myself a hamburger expert, because it is my all time favorite meal. What I look for is a juicy patty, unfortunately this place doesn’t understand how to cook a juicy burger. The patty comes so dry that it made me wonder how long ago they cooked it. The patty tasted like it had been put on the grill frozen and then smashed down to drain all the juice out of it, simply horrible, and unworthy of represent Santa Cruz as a destination spot. The one item I found to be delicious was the milk shakes. This place needs to fire its chef and find someone who knows how to cook a burger. If it’s a delicious hamburger you seek, go to the west side and check out Burger, they know how to cook up a fresh patt.

Amazing everything! We were looking for a yummy burger spot while visiting Santa Cruz and found Betty’s on Unilocal,SO happy we did! From their burgers to their garlic fries to their yummy shakes everything was absolutely delicious! Defiantly can’t wait to come back here when we come up north. :)

On a motorcycle day trip from San Francisco to Santa Cruz, burgers sounded soooo good. I looked up what was hot, and Betty Burgers came up. It was a nightmare trying to fight through backed-up beach traffic to get there, but fortunately there was a parking lot to make the trek worthwhile. We ordered inside and luckily found a table outside. Later we moved inside because it was way too cold and windy. This place was super crowded! I ordered the Point Grinder, Garlic Fries, and Monkey Business Shake. While I was ordering, I was chuckling at the amount of families eating at the restaurant… the names of menu items are totally inappropriate for kids. Anyways, the food was okay. Not the best burger or garlic fries I’ve ever had, but I thought the variety of shake flavors was awesome. Nonetheless, my meal was very filling and successfully fueled our trip back to San Francisco!

Great food! We stopped by here on our way to see a band next door and wanted a quick bite to eat, food was great, service was fast, will definitely come back here!

Best burger in Santa Cruz! Any of the burgers are on point! If you’re in town and looking for an outstanding burger, this is the place. Great patty, exceptional bun, fresh ingredients and top quality. Side note: thin sliced onions, the best! Fries are awesome and the onion rings are bomb! Stop by and you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for helping me find such a great place! Came here after the beach for a quick bite before heading home. Parking is extremely limited. They only have 5 on their site, otherwise the street is available. The line was out the door when we got there. Seating inside isn’t huge, you find yourself waiting for a table to open with a tray of food in your hands. I got lucky with outdoor seating because I had my dog with me. The food took about 10 or so minutes to get to us. You get a number abd they deliver it to your table. This is helpful, since inside isn’t big enough for people standing near the counter waiting for their number to be called. I got a chicken sandwich, since I’m not a huge burger patty fan. My boyfriend and friend both got burger patties. It’s simple, fresh and easy to eat. It was good enough for me to want to stop by again when I come back to the area. The only thing I didn’t like is that their fries are shoe string type. Extremely thin, not my personal liking, but i still ate it and would probably order it again

Amazing quality burgers. The shakes and fries were exemplary. This is a perfect place to stakeout for lunch. Great outside seating and scenery due to being fairly close to the ocean. Great service and portions.

AMAZING Burgers! Sweet Potato fries which can be hard to find! Delicious milk shake with real ice cream ! My boyfriend was happy they also have beer. Special sauce was great with the fries. I will definitely will be returning next time I’m in town. It was my birthday and we wanted to have the best burger in Santa cruz. After exploring the Mystery spot we pulled the car over in a neighbor hood to search on our phones for burger joints. We parked in front of a lady’s home and she came to ask if we needed help. We asked her what place had the best burgers and she recommended us to Bettys! So I even the locals agree. Best burgers in Santa cruz!

Great place for burgers, fries, and onion rings. Usually the place I go to when I’m craving a good burger(aside from in n out) Really decent sized portions for the price you pay. One of my favorite spots in Santa Cruz. P. s. Remember to order your burger medium or medium rare!

We shared a Big Betty and it was amazing! The milkshakes were very good and the fries were hot and crispy. A basic yet complete menu. This is a must eat at if you like a good burger. The burger had a nice hint of smoke which made it fantastic! It is a good thing I don’t live in Santa Cruz. I would be poor.

Great burger joint. Service was friendly. Dog friendly patio. Private parking lot. Mad Mex — $ 8.49 — Beef was nicely cooked. Enjoyed the toppings that came with this burger. Chipotle lube was tasty. Great overall burger. Crispy Fries, regular — $ 1.75 — Crispy, well seasoned fries. Nice portion and pretty cheap for a burger joint.

Wow, what a find. We were shopping down the street, and was looking for a lunch place, and we stumbled onto this place. The place was packed, and the line was literally going out the door. But please, be patient, this is no McDonald’s drive through. The line moves quickly, the person behind the cash register was very nice, and pleasant. The food came out quickly, and was hot, and had an amazing flavor for a burger joint. It is a bit noisy, but go on a nice day, and sit in the patio.

Any casual burger joint I can walk into and indulge with a bottle of ice cold Stella is A-Ok in my book. I stopped in with my family last December for dinner, and it was a pleasant experience. I ordered the Basic Betty, Bareback Style(lettuce wrapped), and added bacon. The burger was good, but nothing out of this world or memorable. I wasn’t able to detect any taste from their«Betty’s Secret Lube» that was highly touted by my parents. Between the seven of us, we were able to share two baskets of the small fries. Three stars for a clean store, friendly staff, beer and decent food. I’ll give Betty’s another shot on my next trip to Santa Cruz.

Just a great juicy burger ! Quality organic ground beef& local produce. The size of the burger is fine for the price. I don’t like giant burgers that are too big to eat. Cost just a bit more than fast food options –but taste 100x better ! Sassy logo and rockabilly retro décor add to the appeal for me. Sort of a «faux dive», it’s too clean to be a «real» dive… That’s ok though! Also a winner is their pet friendly patio. Or — they are close to the beach and great«to-go» option for your beach picnic! The fries are worth the splurge, but a «small» basket is big enough to share !(With a side of «lube» dipping sauce) Lots of beer choices. They also feature great ice cream and hand dipped Milk shakes, try ollaliberry and honey flavor. BETTY’s —A Santa Cruz classic !

Come to Betty Burger to get a delicious burger and fries at this diner-style burger joint! The interior is nothing fancy; in fact, it’s almost kind of a dive. But the restaurant was all clean, if not a little shabby. There’s a little outside, fenced-in area that you can eat at too. The burgers were ready so quickly that I was shocked! There was only one other party there when we arrived, so I guess that makes sense. The only downside I noticed was that the patty was lukewarm, even though the server had just placed the food right in front of us. The burgers had delicious, thinly sliced onions, which I love because the flavor isn’t overpowering. They have good thin, crispy fries, along with your standard sweet potato fry. We got half and half. Lastly, I enjoyed their mayo dip they served with the fries. It was jazzed up with something red and delicious. I’d definitely come again when I’m in the area. This place has its own unique flair to burgers and fries!

Grabbed a few burgers to go last night here right before they closed. so amazing! Hubby got the one with bacon and I tried the blue cheese and mushroom option. Sorry I don’t recall their betty names so I will call them both heavenly. Meat cooked perfect. Toppings were high quality. Onion rings were not greasy or to crunchy. Probably my favorite onion rings ever. Kids had corn dogs which were fantastic as well. The fries were small and not my ideal cut but everything else made up for them. Definitely check it out!

$ 7~$ 9 for a quality burger is not bad! I got«The Duke,» an island-style burger with pineapple in it(goes with the whole Santa Cruz vibe) and it was delicious! I appreciated how the buns were thin and the meat was thick&there were a lot of veggies(onions, lettuce, tomato) too. Fries don’t come with the burgers so you have to buy it on the side! Drinks weren’t crazily over-priced(around $ 1.30 for a small fountain drink). The service wasn’t outstanding nor was it horrible. The outdoor and indoor seating aren’t bad but if you’re looking for a place with a view, you should probably go more towards the beach!

Betty and her Burger! Good Food and Great Service! From my understanding, this is a local chain in Santa Cruz with a few locations. The little one had Unilocaled this spot, bookmarked it, and used the diections feature with google maps to get us here. The parking lot is small but we got a space right in front. Meanwhile, an argument was brewing at the side driveway with honking and yelling as one customer had blocked tje driveway. Theblotnis a little small. ~What we Ordered-4 Stars! Duke with pineapple and baby plain cheeseburger! The burgers were good and the meat was cooked fine. It seemed like everything was fresh. They brought the food out to us along with extra condiments and sweet potato fries! 5 stars for service! Overall, supoer friendly service and a good meal makes me a fan!

When I arrived, it was a beautiful afternoon. The sun was shining, and the place was, well it wasn’t terribly busy, yet I waited to be seated. The phone was ringing off the hook. Finally someone came up to answer it. He answered it, went to the back and came back up. Asked me if the other guy helped me out. Nope. that’s why I’m still here. So the guy sat me. I ordered the chili cheese fries and a bettie burger. The cheese fries were good, could have been better if the fries beneath were hot. The burger was good, but I had to take it apart, too much bun. The food over all was tasty, but the service was lacking.

While spending time with my family on a nice weekend in Brentwood of last year, my cousins and I were talking about the best burgers we ever ate and this place was mentioned. It was stated that the meat is hormone-free and grass-fed. So, being the Unilocaler that I am, I promptly bookmarked the place and have been here twice already. The very moment we happen to be in the area, I made it a point to stop here and see if my cousins were accurate in their statement. They have three locations, but the main and original one is on Seabright Avenue — about half a mile from the Boardwalk. It’s a cute little place with a tiny parking lot that only fits 6 cars max. Don’t let that deter you, there’s plenty of street parking near the place. On our first visit, I had the Bareback Wrap(Lettuce-wrap burger similar to In-N-Out’s Protein Style) while Da Wifey had the Basic Betty and my son Big Betty. We also had a side order of Sweet Potato Fries and some shakes. I was really impressed and you can really taste the quality of the meat. It was a clean but robust flavor that really stood out. Yup… we were satisfied. How satisfied were we? Well…we returned a few weeks later and went BIG this time. Both my son and I had the Double Dutch and Wifey had the Big Betty. Plus, we had more Sweet Potato Fries, Crispy Fries and more shakes. The Double Dutch certainly hit the spot and it was double the flavor, double the mess and double the fun. The fries were crunchy and satisfyingly good and the shakes were definite thirst-quenchers. I have concluded that my cousins’ statements were quite accurate. So, the next time you’re in Santa Cruz and in the mood for some good American burger, say hi to Betty and grab yourself some delicious meat. I also recommend you grab a table outside while you can enjoy and relax underneath the Santa Cruz sun.

Betty, tu me manques…
