Grassroots is simply wonderful. They’ve got a sliding scale for those of us on lesser incomes — it’s actually quite affordable. I don’t like needles at all, so I don’t watch. They constantly check in w me — «Is this OK? Too much?» so it’s fine. Nice people, caring treatment, comfortable chairs and atmosphere — yay!

I’ve been going to Grassroots for a little over a month and have been getting pretty much instant relief from my pain right after a treatment. I have seen 3 of the 4 women who run the center and I think they all give individual attention equally well. Even when the place is busy I feel I get undivided attention from the person working on me. I really like the community aspect of the center. There are about 6 or 7, maybe 8 lazy boy style recliners where you get the treatment. The room is dim so you feel very relaxed just from walking inside and they play soothing music. The best thing about Grass Roots is that they make acupuncture affordable! I have seen acupuncturists charge $ 50+ per visit and I didn’t get nearly the relief from their treatments as I have from the treatments here. The first visit you pay $ 30 – 50 and then each visit after is $ 15 – 25 or 30. Totally reasonable and you feel as if you’ve gotten a top-notch treatment!

After tearing my ACL in a soccer game I started seeing Nora Madden, one of the four women who founded the Grassroots Acupuncture Project. The acupuncture helped the swelling, the pain and ultimately sped up my healing process.(And I was terrified of needles before this experience!) I recommend the Grassroots Acupuncture Project very highly. I have since seen all four of the Grassroots’ acupuncurists: they each are kind, happy to explain their methods and attentive. Grassroots is open six days a week, and functions on a sliding scale. This makes them completely affordable. I’ve found that it works best when I go regularly — I only pay $ 15/visit so I can go twice a week and still pay less than I would somewhere else.
