I like to go lap swimming at Harvey West in the summer. I came ready to buy a 12 time pass for the summer and was told I’d have to go to the Parks and Recreation department — why can’t they do that at the actual pool? It is also irritating that there are times of day, I believe at twelve thirty, when lap swim and rec swim overlap and there are only three, crowded lanes available for lap swim. In my opinion lap and rec swim should be entirely separate. The entrance fee for lap swim is $ 5, which is a bit pricey for a public pool. The lifeguards on task and usually friendly.

Went to Santa Cruz intending to do some hiking. But the weather was much hotter than i anticipated, so i found this pool for lap swim. the lap swim & rec swim were integrated at the same time, but only 3 lanes were set aside for lap swim, while on both sides of the lanes were open areas for the recreational swims, which, during the weekday i was there, were 95% summer camp kids. There were at least 3 ppl in each of the 3 lap lanes when i was there so i waited for 5 – 10 min and jumped in… the pool is seasonal i was told and only opens during the summer. The water goes from 3 ft to 5 ft. The dressing area and shower area seems decent. I would definitely return if in the area.

I was at a birthday party on May 28th at 2:45 for Hadley Pool. the lifeguard was VERY unfriendly and harsh. It wasn’t the fact that she was enforcing rules that people were upset about, it was her tone and the way she went about it. She was a tyrant! Screaming acoss the pool at 2 years olds who were NOT running but trotting when they were being blasted by the freezing cold water in the splash zone. Impossible to ask a child to walk away from freezing cold water that they are being blasted by. Anyways, the girl should not be working with children, or even in the public for that matter.
