BADCUSTOMERSERVICE! Especially for a tourist shop! We stopped by yesterday for an SC dot shirt as a souvenir of our NorCal trip. There were 2 employees, one who was working the register while organizing merchandise. This is the one we approached when we needed a different size shirt hanging up high. She didn’t crack a smile and seemed extremely annoyed to be bothered. We got the same bad attitude when requesting a shot glass from the display case and even when we needed to pay for our purchases. The kicker was that as we were walking out, the sales associate said, «It’s so hard to get any work done when people keep asking you questions.» I can only hope she thought we were out of hearing range, but regardless, how rude! The 2 stars are for merchandise selection and price(they didn’t seem so bad for the location).

Here we have your run-o-the-mill Tourist Gift Shop, right smack dab in the middle of the old Wharf. Now of course I would normally not be caught within a several-meter radius of these little gift shops, but we had a souvenir request for a «shell», and this looked like a good bet. Lots of shells in here, for sure. Nice collection, and cheap. Kind of made me wonder if they were real or manufactured. I dunno, I’m no shell connoisseur. We have the mandatory sunglasses racks right next to the entrance, the jewelry displays at the counter(also riddled with shells and the like), the bland sweatshirts/T-shirts/caps, bright floral swimsuits(90s style), all that nasty stuff. At least it ain’t as expensive as some of the other shops on this here pier.

When I first walked in there was so much to look at. It was my first time going to Santa Cruz and I lived in California for 15 years. I now like in NYC, but came back about a week ago. They have a lot of souvenirs to choose from. I really like the Glass Bowls with the rope tied around them. I can hang those in my Apartment in Brooklyn. The prices were really good. I bought two of them for about $ 11. I went to another store and saw the same one and they were selling them for $ 16 each… Total rip off. Once I return to California again I will def come into here again.
