Here’s the update. My arrows arrived, took it to the archery range to fine tune the arrows, and all these compound archers were gawking at my recurve. An older gentleman who was shooting a takedown recurve was amazed on how fast the arrows took off and buried itself into the target. Heck, I was amazed as much as him. Enough of the gloating. It took a bit of wait to get this recurve in my hands, but it was worth the wait. Crazy light in comparison to my Bear Kodiak, which makes target practicing last much longer without tiring out too quick. Wasn’t sure on some personal issues but Cody reassured me with confidence. What can I say? I’m thinking of purchasing another bow in the future with the same specs, but a longbow to match my recurve. He’ll be hearing from me. If any of you traditional archers are looking to purchase, look no further. I highly recommend you guys/gals to NOT give it a second thought before you shop somewhere else. You won’t be sorry. Five stars from me and other customers speak for itself.

Everything about having my bow made by Tenbrook was a pleasure. Cody took the time to work it all out with me colors, woods, size and pull. I love it ! It makes a big difference to shoot with a bow custom made for you. Thanks again Cody. I sent a couple of my friends to you and they are stoked to.

10⁄10 on every level! It’s obvious that Cody loves building premium custom bows! His craftsmanship is top notch, down to the smallest details. Not only are Tenbrook bows beautiful, they shoot like a dream! When shooting a Tenbrook longbow the first thing you notice is how light they are. I was floored when I released my first arrow. The sheer power and speed was astounding! Absolutely no hand shock or stacking! I now own 2 longbow’s from Cody, and can’t tell you guys enough how amazing these bows are. No better customer service and turn around time than Tenbrook! Cody really knows how to make the whole experience personal and strives to make his customers happy. Thank you Cody for your art, and passion for the archery community! May Tenbrook Archery continue to grow and prosper as you so deserve it! — «Inked Archer»

My son goes to the Santa Cruz archery range frequently and is an avid archer. His most prized possession is his primitive bow from Tenbrook. It’s accurate, balanced, and handsomely made. My son gets compliments on it every week at the range.

Have been shooting bows for 30 years. Most those years have been with compound bows. I never considered traditional archery until I saw one of Cody’s bows. Absolutely gorgeous! It was almost an impulse buy based on the craftsmanship alone. Used woods and Cape buffalo horn that had significance for my family. It is the only bow I display in the house. Wish I could post a photo for you to see. How does it shoot? Amazing! And this comes from a 30 year compound shooter. Everyone I shoot with comments on how well my arrows fly. Cody is not only an artist and superior craftsman — he is also a genuinely nice person. He takes pride in the whole process — from initial contact, to keeping you engaged as it’s being made, to delivery and follow up. After two years I am still in love with this bow. It’s more expensive than a mass produced bow from China — you get what you pay for — and I feel the value proposition for this level of work is right on the mark. This bow will be something I pass on to my son.

I’ve tried a lot of different longbows and recurves from different bowyers around the country. I guess you could say I’m a bow ho. For a while I’ve been looking for a bow that draws smooth to my long draw 31″ and was not too heavy in poundage at that draw. I also wanted a bow that was not too long so as to be inconvenient for hunting. While I was in the Santa Cruz area I decided to call Cody Dumont the bowyer at Tenbrook archery. I knew he was in the area and I had seen his bows at some events. I knew he was making a really fast reflex deflex longbow. I looked him up to see if I could swing by. He was super accommodating and helpful and it turns out he had a bow that matched my specs perfectly! On short notice I came by his shop. He made a FF string on the spot like the SBD strings he normally uses(good because I usually have to switch out bowyers stock strings for these anyways). I shot the bow for a while in his backyard and got a good feel for it. The longbow was bad-ass for sure. It was lightweight and ergonomic in the hand. The grip was very natural and set up my hand for good form. The workmanship was impeccable, better than many bows that are much more expensive. The veneers, overlays, limb tips, and accents are all subtle, natural, and beautiful. A perfect balance of good looks and ability to blend in to the wild places where I hunt. the craftsmanship is truly top-notch. The finish is one of the best I have seen and the glass is very clear, letting the beautifully chosen wood grain show through. Another benefit: Cody doesn’t scribble five lines of kindergarten-looking, chicken scratch writing on your bow like some bowyers do… just saying. Performance you ask? I couldn’t ask for more. Cody’s R/D longbow has an aggressive limb design that transfers energy to the arrow efficiently. This is critical for me because I shoot low poundage bows and don’t have much energy to waste. The bow is quiet too, I could barely hear it even without silencers on the string. This bow can hold it’s own with the fastest trad bows out there. I haven’t chronographed it but I’ve heard from others that it is in the upper echelons with the fastest R/D bows on the market. Cody is a pleasure to deal with. Very helpful, generous, and attentive.

I found Tenbrook Archery as I was searching for a Christmas gift for my son. We are believers in an «experience» gift rather then items. Cody teaches a class for learning how to make a wood longbow that fit the bill perfectly. After signing him up we figured it would be a perfect«experience» gift for Grandpa to go along. Together they went and both came home with an amazing bow and arrow each, a ton of knowledge and a fabulous time together. I would recommend this class for anyone interested in learning about this wonderful art and it’s a perfect gift, or time with loved ones doing something creative.
