For the past 6 years I have struggled with severe knee pain which led to two knee replacements. Due to my having to favor my knees as well as just being out of shape I then developed problems with my lower back. I was apprehensive to try Pilates as I felt I was not in good enough shape or that it would be too difficult. I phoned in and was lucky enough to speak with Katrina Lake who is a physical therapist at Therapilates. Katrina changed my life, and I am for the first time in quite some time out of pain. Initially I worked with her privately once a week until my pain was gone and I felt like I could handle a group class. I was a bit intimidated but what I learned about Pilates is that you really go at your own pace. I found Katrina to be extremely knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. She listened intently and worked on my whole body, not just the parts. This was so valuable because everything in our bodies work together and by isolating one part you’re not necessarily addressing the problem. I can’t more highly recommend Katrina. Go for it. You can live pain free!

My daughter is a D-1 college gymnast with chronic back issues. She is accustomed to travelling hours a day for the best training, the best doctors, the best PT. Imagine her delight in finding Sherri here in Santa Cruz. Sherri was an elite gymnast and understands the rigor and very specialized demands of the sport. She got my daughter through the initial recovery stages of an extremely frustrating and painful back injury, helping to more accurately isolate and diagnose the source of the pain than my daughter’s orthopedist and physiatrist were able to initially! And when my daughter«plateaued» and was ready for a different kind of training and conditioning, Sherri helped locate another therapist, and consulted with him about my daughter’s further treatment plans. She is knowledgeable, passionate AND compassionate, and provides a warm and nurturing environment in which to heal and work hard. My daughter will use the skills she learned from Sherri for years to come, both as a competitive athlete and for general health and fitness.

I worked with Sherri once a year or so ago. She was excellent, Very thorough, thoughtful and skilled PT. My review is not about her abilities as a PT(which, are quite strong), but about the follow up/follow through and customer service. After my appointment, she said to contact her if I had any questions. Well, I had one, so I emailed her the next day. However, I never received a response. That was disappointing, but I figured I’d let it go. A few months ago, I emailed again, asking for a PT recommendation in my area. Last time I saw her she said she knew a few excellent PT’s much closer to me, so I wouldn’t have to drive over the hill to Santa Cruz. That sounded like a nice option, so, I emailed. And waited to hear from her … Again, no response. I thought, that’s really weird. Maybe I’ll call and leave a message and/or hope to catch someone live. So, I followed up and left a message about a month or so ago. I asked for the same thing — a referral etc, explained who I was yada yada and to please call me back. Nothing. I find this to be completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior for anyone running a business.(or, simply as a human being!) It’s unfortunate, because I really liked her and she is quite a skilled practitioner.

I went to Sheri @ Therapilates probably 4 yrs ago for bad back and neck problems; she is a physical therapist and it is great that we can combine PT and Pilates strengthening as I need it. I have been going for this long and am getting better all the time — although I admit I’m a bad«patient» because I don’t do my exercises in between visits. But she is VERY patient, understanding and determined to get me better! She has fabulous associate teachers — Michelle and Jenny are both great, and I highly recommend any of her team to help you get stronger and more fit. She is also world-renowned as an instructor and travels and teaches extensively, as well as teaching other instructors in her studio. She wants to «share the knowledge» with others and is very giving. There are also very affordable group classes or one-on-one with the instructors, so a lot of flexibility and affordability. Kudos to Sheri and her crew at Therapilates!

I have attended two workshops taught by Sherri Betz, PT called TheraPilates for Osteoporosis and Prenatal Pilates. I found Sherri to be very welcoming and well versed on all the various methods/teachings philosophies regarding Pilates and Physical Therapy treatments. Sherri’s love and passion shines through in her teaching. I would HIGHLY recommend checking-out her website to read more about all the wonderful resources available to the public.
