Kinda disappointed with this place. Came here for breakfast. Staff was very friendly and good customer service. Just not that great selection on the menu and I wasn’t impressed with my meal, which was one of the house specials.

The servers are on something, the seating isn’t that comfortable, the portions are huge, and the food is quite tasty. There. I’ve summed up Zachary’s in one sentence. Easily one of my top 5 breakfast places in SC. The ambiance is lacking though so Linda’s Seabreeze and Walnut Café(pricey for what you get) are my preferred diners. 3.5 stars overall. Tip: Get something with eggs. They do their eggs rly well even if they do get overcooked at times. Their bacon is also good if not overcooked.

Another great breakfast spot in Santa Cruz. Hearty, filling options. Perfect for after a night of drinking. Love the artichoke frittata with home fries and the homemade oatmeal molasses toast. Good fluffy sourdough pancakes. Lunch options are also tasty: good cheeseburger and tuna melt. Casual atmosphere but fun for groups. Parking in the back. You can usually find coupons in the GoodTimes newspaper.

Two words… Sourdough Pancakes! We were on a road trip and learned about Zachary’s. We went well out of our way, struggled to find a parking space, and waded through a crowd before finally snagging a couple of spots at the counter. We didn’t need to see a menu — we knew what we were there for. We paid a little extra for some real maple syrup for our sourdough pancakes, and it was totally worth it. Would we do it again? In a heart beat! It’s already on our list for this summer’s road trip… but this time we’ll go with the full stack :)

Located in downtown Santa Cruz, Zachary’s is an institution(from all the Unilocal reviews I read). The space really looks lived-in — worn wooden floors and booths, but that’s part of its charmed. The wait wasn’t too bad. Make sure you go all the way to the back and put your name on the list. The food — everything arrived lukewarm, which was unfortunate, especially since the Mike’s Mess had cooled down into one congealed disk of eggs, potatoes, cheese. Also tried the chili, which was just ok.

Love the ambiance and the food. They lived up to their reputation. We had the Zachary Old fashioned(previously Zachary Benny), corned beef hash, and pancake stack. Our little boy loved the pancake and corn beef. The pancake consistency reminds me of the ones my mom used to make back home. It’s fluffy and chewy. It’s the chewy part that I don’t find in most breakfast places. They’re so busy, so we waited a bit. We were a party of 4. So groups with less people got their tables earlier than we did. It also took a while for us to get oyr drinks, but it was i understandable considering how much traffic they get. I wonder if it’s the same on weekdays. They made up for the delay for being gracious about this oversight. The place, price, good food, big serving and great service deserve a full five star! #askshella
