Alfanoose Cafe

Hooray! A Middle Eastern /​Mediteranean café that actually makes their own dolmas (and to perfection) instead of buying them in a jar actually exists in Santa Fe!
This smallish café rests in the actual center of town, just off the 2^nd street /​Cerrillos Road intersection, and is my new favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Everything is cooked fresh (although if you’re bringing in a large party, you might want to make reservations a day earlier). The owner, Sami, is extremely pleasant to work with and this is totally a family-​run business.
I ordered the Dolmas (aka Grape Leaves), Hummus, and the Falafel and everything was perfect. I know how to prepare all these items myself, and they did it better than I do.
I can’t believe that I’ve been driving by this restaurant for the past two years and never checked it out… Everyone I’d been talking to had been telling me that I’d like it, but especially when it comes to Mediteranean food, I’m extremely picky… Now I know where to go, and I’ll be going there often.
