Best truffles EVER… and Prickly Pear iced tea… just what we needed after an afternoon of visiting churches, shopping the plaza for silver, museum viewing, lunch… dare I go on? Mick — behind the counter here is amazing… outdoor tables on the sidewalk as well as indoor cozy seating… enjoy!

The espresso and the chocolate were great! The old hag behind the counter will keep me from returning. What mean and nasty disposition.

Adore this swanky coffee shop, staff is super customer service oriented and will go the extra mile to please their customers. Delightful scrumptious truffles as well sweet hot chocolate options, you cant go wrong. Lavish ambiance & bold coffee~~ what more can you ask for, another hot spot everyone must visit in Santa Fe.

Their coffee and service are great. I personally think the chocolates are too sweet and have a weird consistency. But for the coffee and I’m betting the hot chocolate too, you can’t go wrong. Plus the tiny dining area is cute.

It was a cold November Friday evening at 6pm and several coffeeshops in downtown Santa Fe were closed(I guess things don’t open that late in downtown). C.G. Higgins turned out to be a good downtown find where I could choose from many coffee options or alternatively a sipping chocolate which prevailed. There were like six sipping chocolates and I opted for the orange zest sipping chocolate which comes in 8 oz servings and the $ 5 was well worth it. They also sell the sipping chocolates in individual servings if you want to take a package home. I took my orange zest sipping chocolate to go along with a couple of Grand Marnier truffles which seemed a bit pricey at ~$ 3.75/pc but the quality was superb and at least you get what you pay for.

Sad that they advise closing 7:00 pm and it’s closed 5:50 in a weekday. Apparently this business closes when they like. Closing hours at entrance are erased.

Cute place to get chocolate or coffee! The staff is really friendly. There’s a large selection of different truffles(~$ 4 each) with unique flavors like blue cheese, lavender, strawberry champagne, etc. The pumpkin truffle had a white chocolate outside which was soo creamy and the inside had a texture like pumpkin purée. Really good! The himalayan salt was also good but not as unique as the pumpkin. Also couldn’t help but buy a small bag of almond toffee(~$ 4). We ate the entire thing and it was so tasty! The almond adds great flavor and texture.

We came here for ice cream after the locals recommended it for the local flavers. My daughter and husband both got mexican chocolate which had lots of cinnamon and also huge chunks of dark chocolate chips. They both loved it! I had the coffee flavored one which also had a lot of cinnamon and large chunks of dark chocolate. The place is very cozy and the staff is very friendly.

I read about this place in one of the Visitor Magazines and after hearing about the unique New Mexican flavor truffles they have I just had to try it. It lived up to the reviews. The truffles were very fresh and packed full of flavor. I had the Mexican Traditional, New Mexico chili and Santa Fe Fiesta. Hard to pick a favorite. I would highly recommend a visit to this store. My only negative comment is I think the price of the truffles are a little high. I often purchase fine candies like those from Godiva and feel $ 3.45 each is a little high plus the small service fee for using a credit card. The price won’t prevent me from visiting again, it only limits the number of pieces of chocolate I purchase. I’d recommend making this a destination to stop off at.

Great little place! We were visiting for the weekend and we ended up going there each day. They have coffee, a few delicious baked goods, a variety of candy/truffles AND tasty ice cream. The employees were helpful and friendly and remembered us(and our coffee preferences). It was great to feel so welcome far away from home!

The espresso is really good, perfect! We stumbled onto/into This wonderful coffee/chocolate house. The cinnamon rolls just came out of the oven so we had to stop and enjoy… a perfect afternoon respite after a great time at the Georgia O’Keefe museum.

After having lunch nearby in the plaza, we headed to C.G. Higgins, which was stop 2 on our chocolate tour. As we heard the descriptions of some of their most popular truffles, 3 of the 4 of us settled on the Mexican traditional, which had a little spiciness from the chile and a lot of cinnamon, which made for a divine couple of bites. I also tried the pear and pineapple truffle, which had nice undertones of the fruit purees and the Santa Fe fiesta, which they describe as having a «little bit of everything» including green and red chile. That one definitely had a kick to it! Everyone’s favorite was the Mexican traditional and the sipping chocolate was just as good, if not better, than the truffle. In fact, the following day after our first visit, we found ourselves back at CG Higgins for round 2 of the Mexican traditional hot chocolate. My only issues with CG Higgins were that the hot chocolate was served luke warm, the cup was 2⁄3 filled, and the handling of the truffles was without gloves(at least on the second day). But, I must say that when I mentioned that perhaps the truffles weren’t handled as well as they could have been, the lady acknowledged her error and corrected it, which I appreciated. Otherwise, this is a lovely little shop in which to enjoy a few truffles, chocolate concoctions, or other candies, and to sip some hot chocolate.

Wow! What friendly staff with great service. Had the Caffè Macchiato and was so sad when I saw the bottom of my cup… so very delicious! Cheers to the barista. We didn’t have any chocolates or desserts, but they had a carrot cake that looked incredible. I will definitely try their sweets the next time I stop in because their coffee is worth many more stops.

Santa Fe has a chocolate walk — just one of the many treasures and pleasures of the fine city. C.G. Higgins is good, handmade chocolate and their plaza location is convenient for grabbing a few truffles to pop as you shop.

Looking for the perfect start for your day? Try the best cinnamon roll(but you’ll want to share it as it is big)! Warm and tasty, we had a great mocha coffee and sat outside to enjoy. You won’t be disappointed… in fact you may get tempted with some of the other homemade goodies. I did… caramel rolled with nuts… too good!
