The breaded and baked mac and cheese balls are amazing, and also loved the salt and vinegar potato wedges. The«roasted vegetable salad», although delicious, was very small and almost entirely comprised of kale, and very little other vegetables. The risoto dish with kale pesto was a big letdown. Nothing really wrong with it, just didn’t think it was very good. But their prices are good, service is great, very nice little patio, good beer and cider, and amazing gelato. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place!

Maybe great for beer and bottled wine but had two different house reds syrah/grenanche and cabernet. Syrah was drinkable the cab was terrible

Terrific wine and beer selection. Peaceful beer garden and surprisingly delicious menu that is way more than bar food. On the edge of town and worth the trip

Everything here was really good. Nothing great except the beer list, impromptu music on the quaint but cool patio and excellent décor. Perfect date night place. Parking is a challenge. Thanks to the Chef and staff for a good night out!

So I guess I’m just not cool enough to go to trendy places in Santa Fe. This place was packed and has fantastic reviews including a 5 star from a friend so we gave it a shot. We ordered drinks, looked over the menu and ordered a pickle plate as a starter. The pickle plate was just that. a plate, with pickles. I know I’m crazy but when I saw the price I thought it was fried pickles not just a sliced up pickle, mind you it was sliced very well. My 8 year old daughter would have been hard pressed to slice a pickle so flawlessly. This just wasn’t the type of place for me, I’m sure lots of people love it, as I said it was packed.

Fire and Hops is an excellent neighboorhood restaurant and pub. Great patio in the back. Interesting and very tasty food. I was a big fan of their chocolate milk stouts while they had them. Staff is sincerely friendly.

Lots of great things about this place! As a tourist, I was thrilled to find a local place full of Santa Feans — and they were right! My girlfriend and I shared several small plates to great enjoyment, and their draft list was updated even while we were there with new options. Lots of great choices. Don’t miss the brusselsprouts!(yes, seriously) Only downside was the wait was significantly longer than we were anticipating. We were told 20 – 30 minutes, but the tables that the staff was anticipating turning over lingered quite a while. We waited over an hour. It turned out to be quite worth it, but be aware that because it is so small, there are some seating challenges. Absolutely would return — everything was worth sharing and the staff was great.

I had the Brussels sprouts, so delicious, best part of the experience besides the ambiance. It’s a cute little place, nice people. The food is outrageously priced. I ordered the flank steak, $ 25. Very small chewy steak with maybe a cup full of greens sprinkled with a few potatoes. Meh. My boyfriend got the fried mac and cheese and poutine. He said they were delicious.

Food is not as good as expected. But the environment and style gives it its stars Environment is awesome. Laid back, cool bar feel. Food is fancy for a bar but wasn’t as good as I expected based on the reviews 1.) fried mac and cheese. Lacked flavor. Sauce was barbecue? Not a good match. 2.) Brussels sprouts. Well these had a great flavor! I think they add way to much flavor even… They add way too much sauce. I ate a few and then I stopped cause it was just too much. 3.) pork tacos– these lacked flavor and the tortillas were corn but straight from the bag so they fell apart very easily. I wish they fried them first. 4.) The Cubano. This was my favorite thing we got. The pickles inside were amazing and the sauce they used was very flavorful. The salt and vinegar potatoes that came with it were extremely flavor filled. Too much for me but my husband enjoyed them. Overall, it’s a fun bar and it has much better food then regular bars do so I would go again but don’t expect incredible food just… Good :)

Holy shit! Those Brussel sprouts and ceviche are epic. Ordered round 2 and were almost going to do round 3 but thought that would be awkward. Yum!!! Server was amazing. This place is top notch. Good beer and home ice cream too. Sigh. Will be going back tomorrow.

I had some reading to do for a meeting. I settled in to a table thinking I’d have a nice pub meal and wine. I was very pleasantly surprised by my dining experience! I think they served the best Brussel sprouts I’ve ever had – and I love Brussel sprouts. They were perfectly cooked and served with pickled shallots. The shrimp fritters were also quite crunchy and tasty. A small but quality wine line. And a great dessert menu to top it all off. The small plates are not that small, so if you are dining solo, 2 are enough. Cozy atmosphere. If in the room away from the bar the noise level is low. Service was friendly and efficient. I will be back!

I’m hesitant to give Fire & Hops five stars since I want to keep it from becoming overrun with other patrons. But I can’t help myself. We live just a few blocks away, but haven’t been here until tonight. Amazing reviews drew us, and a birthday celebration iced our decision. We had the crispy brussels sprouts(holy mackerel, they were perfectly delicious) and then the kalua pork tacos and then the pork belly. The tacos were great and then the pork belly was like dessert. I wanted more immediately. Because it was my birthday, I got to choose dessert, the pumpkin pana something.. .and even that was amazing. We live in Santa Fe and get to eat great food every day, but this was fresh, inspired and fun. Thankfully we get to walk to Fire & Hops for our next visit — parking is a bit of a challenge. But who cares? The food and service is too good not to go back for a second look.

Stopped in here early Sunday night after a day of skiing in Santa Fe. There was a crowd already assembled at the bar but we were seated in a fairly quiet dining area. Both my friend and I liked the décor. It was warm and inviting and so were the staff. I ordered the Ramen upon recommendation of our waiter and my friend ordered the fried mac and cheese and the Poutine. The ramen was quite good. My only qualm was that the egg in the soup was very cold. I’m not sure if it is meant to be this way but I thought it was odd. My friend’s dishes were both pretty good. I liked that the fries in the Poutine were not soggy and I found it to be pretty flavorful. The Mac and cheese was also pretty good although I think it could’ve used a bit more sauce. I saw a sign in the bathroom that said you get 10% off if you skied at Santa Fe that day. We told the waiter we had(we were pretty clearly dressed for it) but he wouldn’t offer the discount without a pass. No big deal, we didn’t have our passes on us and the sign in the bathroom did state you needed to present the pass. Just an FYI.

Came in from LA with my lady a few days and was pleasantly surprised at this place. We found it on Unilocal and decided to give it a shot. Cuisine is nice farm to table but still with home style feel. There is a bar with TVs but it secluded from the restaurant, which is nice depending on the experience you are looking for. The food was great, delicate and complex flavored, we had the brussel sprouts which were awesome. Then both opted for the Ramen(which I admit I was hesitant, not sure if SFNM is known for its ramen… but on account of the snowy cold conditions… went for it) the Ramen rocked! Broth had great flavor, pork was tender, & the egg was amazing, like one of the best eggs is ever had(strange right?) It was pretty damn good bowl of ramen. Service was good, everyone nice & attentive, atmosphere is cool, inside an old house. Would definitely recommend it a place to check it out.

I was searching for some places to eat on our visit from ABQ to Santa Fe with my in-laws. I was happy when I call Fire and shops that they could seat us since everywhere else was pretty packed. We were starving by the time we got over there so we were happy when our ordered appetizers came out so quickly. And the Brussel sprouts were so good that my wife ended up getting them basically as her meal and we got another order for the table. Actually, the food was universally pretty good. Certainly lived up to the«upscale pub food» they advertised. And, a lot of the things had a *slight* SE Asian twang which was very good. I am knocking a star because there were more than a few(minor) mix ups with the meals, including timing and my medium-rare burger being what could only charitably considered medium. And, while the lettuce to tomatoes were really good(heirloom tomatoes!!!) I was a bit taken aback to see they charged for them. Anyway, I enjoyed the meal and, if I were local, I’d certainly go back.(ABQ is localish but if I am driving up to Santa Fe, I’d likely also try something new)

Been sitting on this review and trying to figure out how best to speak honestly about our recent experience at Fire and Hops. Bottom line: Very disappointed in the food. Two stars relate only to the beautiful back patio and attentive server. On our trip to Santa Fe, we decided to venture out and try something new. My Unilocal research and local people recommendations landed us at Fire and Hops. I anticipated well prepared small plates made from local products, good beer and wine selection, and excellent service. They do not have a liquor license, but was willing to give up having a cocktail before dinner because of my high hopes for the food. We ordered the fried mac n cheese balls, the spicy hot wings, an Asian beef salad and a cheeseburger with fries. As we always do, we asked for house favorites and recommendations. The fried mac n cheese came in three golf ball sized balls placed atop a very small smear of sauce. Bites that had sauce were good enough, bites that did not have sauce were bland, dry, and uneventful. We would not order again. Next came the spicy wings which we picked over the spare ribs upon our server’s suggestion. We each took a bite of a wing, looked at each other and said, «These are so gross.» They were so full of vinegar, bitterness, and a strange, almost old taste. We sent them back. Just awful. Next came my companion’s burger and fries and my Asian beef salad. One look at the meat on my salad and I knew it was trouble. The meat was barely cooked. I knew it was served medium rare, but this was barely rare with raw, bright red meat throughout. I found one piece of meat that looked cooked and tried it. It was so chewy and tough that I could not break it down in my mouth and had to spit it out. I then took some of the lettuce into my mouth and when I bit down, all I could taste was vinegar. The greens were drenched in vinegar. I had my friend taste the salad and she spit it out. Her hamburger was average and edible do she at it and I basically ate her fries which I dipped in some alioli they had brought us. So hungry, we ordered homemade bread pudding and three scoops of gelato. For some strange reason, they brought us the ice cream and then much later the bread pudding. Coursing matters and I would have preferred they had brought the two desserts at the same time. The gelato came in three small scoops and were interesting. I liked 2⁄3 and my friend liked 2⁄3. The bread pudding finally arrived. It was in a small baking dish and had white stuff on top which I assumed was crème fraîche. But, when we bit into the desert and tasted the white stuff it was soooooo sour. Not sweet, not creamy, just sour. … again. …vinegar was the dominating taste. …or maybe it was spoiled food that I was tasting. It was not good. We did our best to eat around the white stuff. We told the server about our food experience and our concern about the front forward vinegar taste that kept coming through and the raw meat that had been served. He admitted there was a new person preparing the small plates and desserts(all the things that were bad). Surprisingly, nothing was taken off our bill. We thought our terrible dining experience was over, when at around midnight that night I became violently ill and spent the night with stomach cramps and nausea, throwing up several times. I was sick for almost 24 hours. I cannot be sure that it was food poisoning, but I had no other symptoms then nausea and vomiting. So, will I be back. No.

My rating is really about a 3.5 but rounding up because there are so few pubs in town and we want to make sure the ones we have succeed. Really my advice regarding Fire & Hops depends on what you’re looking for. If you are looking for a pub to get some good beers and want better than standard bar food, Fire & Hops is what you’re looking for. If you’re not really interested in beer and looking for the best meal you can get, there are better options. My husband had two beers, both of which he enjoyed very much. We ordered four of the small plates: fried mac & cheese, the pork tacos, the spareribs and the chicken wings. All were decent but none would have fit into the category of «if I come back, I have to order this again». Service was good, ambience was younger than average for Santa Fe and fun. As I said the food is better than you usually get at a bar but there are better restaurants in town for less money.

It never surprises me when I find yet ANOTHER charming, delicious restaurant in Santa Fe and Fire & Hops is not exception. This place has all the ingredients of the hippest, hoppiest, gastropubs in New York City: a small, intimate, low-lit setting, a diverse and exciting beer, cider and wine listing and, of course, DELICIOUSFOOD. Where do I start? What about where we started our dinner: the appetizers. We started with the brussels sprouts – a hot ticket these days, as chefs everywhere are transforming this often despised vegetable into to a contender for one of the BEST things to happen to comfort food fried mac and cheese… Fire & Hops version is fried, possibly twice-fried, in delicious-ness and are a must have. We also enjoyed the Pickle Plate, an obviously healthy and lighter alternative which was equally yummy. The dinner menu, which provides small and large plates, made it easy for our large group to share and sample almost everything. The Fried Mac & Cheese was a number one favorite, but the Poutine was not a far second. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pork Tacos which had the right balance of savory and spicy. The meat was moist, the kimchi a nice touch. I also had the Thai Beef Salad. The toasted rice made this dish! So good. Other people had the Cubano sandwich – hard to get wrong! – and the risotto. It was generally agreed that the risotto was underwhelming, a little too rich and not enough«dimension», aka flavor. That takes me to dessert, the piece de la resistance! Words can barely describe the amazingness that was the homemade ice cream! Three scoops per serving but all I remember was the chocolate sea salt and lemon something(fail, I know)…so good! The were both light but with the right amount of sweet! We also shared the Kaffir Lime Panna Cotta. Something tells me after this great experience that its hard to go wrong at Fire & Hops! I will definitely be back!
