We had a TERRIBLE experience with Dr. Gossman. This doctor just gets patients into his office so he can cash in on the insurance payments, as he seems to schedule unnecessary appointments and he does not care if his patients are in pain, start their physical therapy on time, or even have braces that fit properly. My boyfriend dislocated his knee in a snowboarding accident, and we were referred here. We were walk-in patients the first time we went and met with the Physician’s Assistant, Dr. Cook, who was thorough, and even pointed out elements of my BF’s knee to us on the MRI. We were told to come back in 2 weeks to meet with their knee specialist — Dr. Gossman, and at that point we could also hopefully start PT. Dr. Gossman walked into the room and immediately began to interrogate me as to who I was: I introduced myself, but he wanted to know my relation to the patient — which I don’t really see as any of his business. He poked a few places on my boyfriend’s knee, which were obviously very painful, and then he sat down and asked him what he wanted to discuss with him about his knee. He never once asked my boyfriend how much pain he was in — currently, or since his last visit. My boyfriend also told Dr. Gossman that the brace he had was ill-fitting, and that he would like another one, and Dr. Gossman flat out said, «no», and told my BF that he needed to wear the brace 24⁄7 and not to work — at all. Dr. Gossman also asked why we were back in the office so soon, and after spending 5 minutes with us, told us to come back in 2 weeks. This orthopedic group is supposedly the most popular orthos in town, but after a visit with Dr. Gossman — I cannot, for the life of me, understand why. As we were checking out, the receptionist even remarked to us, «done already? My, that was fast.» We called back to cancel the followup appointment and were told by the office manager that Dr. Gossman cannot refuse a patient a new brace. She apologized and tried to get us to see another one of their doctors, but by this point, the BF was done with Dr. Gossman, and make an appointment somewhere else. The new doctor was totally appalled that my BF had not started PT by this point in his injury. This new doc knows Dr. Gossman and said, «he should have started you in physical therapy weeks ago,» and told us that he has told Dr. Gossman before that he cannot be so dismissive to his patients. The new doctor was also shocked that my BF had not been given another brace, as the one he currently was wearing was not fitting properly and even starting to come apart. Needless to say — the new doctor did his job, and Dr. Gossman did absolutely nothing, but seemed happy to schedule us for more appointments. Anyone considering Dr. Gossman should take their business elsewhere.
