Very good Seafood & wonderful service here. The Forrest Gump themes everywhere are too funny. Our waitress Rio played a cool trivia game with us while we waited for our food. We had to remember certain parts of the movie of which one friend would have taken the gold. They even have a gift shop here right in the restaurant. BTW, all the staffers here appear very happy & appreciate quality service. *This place has people standing outside the doors waiting for tables therefore, I’ve learned not to always judge a place by its rating.

By far worst experience at Bubba Gump. I have been to SF one and the Monterey one a lot of times and this one by far is the worst experience! How do you forget a kids meal after you have been reminded 4 times for it! And then told it will be out in 2 mins and they still forgot it so we finally cancelled it!

They gave my table which I’ve been waiting for an hour to someone else by mistake, then they refused to solve the issue and made me wait for another 40 minutes…

I don’t know why I let my friends drag me to this place. I’m not a big fan of chain restaurants and Bubba Gump showed me exactly why. For the appetizer, we got the shrimp mac and cheese, which was salty and tasted overly processed. We also got sweet and spicy shrimp, which wasn’t too bad. I ordered the fish tacos and I absolutely regret my decision. It was pretty much frozen fish nuggets stuffed in tortillas with iceberg lettuce and some bland sauce. And they give you tortilla chips on the side. Why do I need dry tortilla chips on the side of dry tortillas??? I ended up just leaving my leftovers. I just ate what I could because I was starving. I wish we would have went to the burger place across the pier instead of Bubba Gump aka«Straight Outta the Freezer.»

Dude won’t be coming back here ever if you paid me. So the fish and chips are good. Fries cheapy. The shrimp scampi was said to be good but mediocre. Cajun shrimp was said to taste a little to much like chili instead of Cajun. My friend hated it so much he didn’t pay for it. Even the soda I had was nasty. The shrimp in the Po boy tasted like it had poison in it. It tasted Horrid But the view was great and the waitress was very nice.

I made a reservation for 6 and waited over and hour for a table. Whats the point of having a reservation if we still have to wait over and hour… they have a mango chiller that costs 10.99 and the drinks and some of the food have no prices on them. very disappointing and I went there for my birthday and so not worth it.

I went to Santa Monica beach to have a dinner. I chose this famous franchise for it. This was my first time there, and I liked it so far! I ordered a couple of different«shrimp sets» and a strawberry-banana shake with it.(It’s a mistake tho, don’t try shake with shrimps simultaneously). But separately, it was delicious. The only minus was I had to wait in a huge line.

Tried this place out for the first time today and I really liked it. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated which was totally fine since it gave us time to walk around the pier for a bit. Not too crazy about sitting in the middle of the room and having people keep bumping into us while we’re sitting. I ordered the shrimp po boy and a drink I total I spent about $ 30 including tip. Totally worth it I really enjoyed it here. But I’m not gonna lie… The pier burger place across the way is still my favorite spot.

We came here for lunch on a Friday a couple of weeks ago while on a trip to CA. We were able to be seated right away downstairs at a table right next to the window. We had a great view of the beach and the surrounding coastline. I ordered the coconut shrimp, while my friend ordered the kid’s popcorn shrimp(she was going to order the popcorn shrimp appetizer, but our waitress pointed out that the appetizer version was half peppers and asked my friend if she would rather just have the popcorn shrimp without the peppers.) The kid’s popcorn shrimp was great as it came in a 3-D replica of the Jenny shrimp boat, which had the popcorn shrimp, fries, and blue jello. The food came out relatively quickly and service at Bubba Gump’s is always great given that you just flip the license plate over and get service from whatever server is nearby. I used that technique to get more dipping sauce for my coconut shrimp. While some spilled out of the containers while they were bringing it to me, the roll of the paper towels that is in the bucket at each table came in handy. While not the cheapest lunch as my coconut shrimp was $ 19.49, my friend lucked out because the kids meal was under $ 8.00(less than the appetizer) and she got fries and popcorn shrimp without the peppers that the appetizer had. Given that the pier didn’t have a ton of other dining options, I’m glad we went with Bubba Gump and we had a great view of the beach while dining.

The hubs and I love going to the Santa Monica Pier for date night. We’ll walk through the 3rd St. Promenade then walk to the pier and stroll through the arcade, Pacific Park, and then walk all the way to the end of the pier. Each time we’ve been there, the hubs does his best Forrest and Bubba impression when we pass by the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. And each time, I tell him that I’ve never been to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. So we finally went to eat at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The individuals standing at the front taking down your name and number in your party CLEARLY didn’t want to work that night. I would understand if they looked tired and overworked — it WAS Memorial Day weekend, after all — but these individuals looked bored. No smile. No greeting. The interior is quite loud, but I found it to be somewhat lively and endearing — gave the place a certain level of grab-a-drink-and-watch-the-game feel. The food definitely was filling, but not the best seafood I’ve ever had. I found the batter on the fish and chips to be too thick and doughy, but the coconut shrimp was nice and crunchy. Oh, and get the mac and cheese — the little shrimps they put in there pop in your mouth! Other than the mac and cheese and the coronita I got, I didn’t find too much to rave about… OH!!! If they don’t have it at your table, ask your server for the pineapple habanero hot sauce — it saved what would have been a heavy and doughy meal for me.

Let me start off by saying don’t order the shrimp scampi, however everything else is really good! Went here on vacation craving seafood. The staff are super friendly! Our waiter was really friendly and it’s a great atmosphere. My boyfriend and I ordered garlic bread, shrimp scampi, and the Bourbon Mahi Mahi. We shared all of it The garlic bread is delicious, there is parm sprinkled on it soo good. The Bourbon Mahi Mahi was also delicious, cooked perfectly and the potatoes both mashed and stringed were really great, the sauce was really good, and the shrimp were cooked well. The scampi on the other hand not very tastey, to lemony not seasoned well. The shrimp were over cooked. We couldn’t decide if we wanted the scampi or the shrimp mac n cheese. So we asked to waiter he recommended the scampi poor choice. Now that I have read more reviews, I realize we weren’t the only ones who didn’t like it. So just save yourself and don’t order the scampi but everything else was delicious!!!

The story of Forest Gump’s seafood loving best friend and their adventure to own a shrimp boat, all wrapped up into a restaurant, is Bubba Gump! Overall, the experience was OK. The food was good, especially if you love shrimp. Unfortunately, our bill was divided up wrong, the service was very slow, and the staff seemed a bit unorganized with getting out food and orders to the patio area. The good news: we were so shrimptastic after the shrimp taster appetizers! Here is my advice: 1. Ask to play the trivia! It’s hilarious if you’re with a group. 2. Order a net catch, for you shrimp fanatics.(The garlic is insanely popular). 3. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry.

Didn’t expect much… This isn’t really a bad review. Everything, well 90% of things on the menu are fried. I wasn’t feeling that, so I went with a cesar salad. It was pretty good. The Forrest Gump trivia was fun. When my parties food arrived, though I wasn’t feeling anything fried, looked amazing. Slowly my stomach regretted not ordering something else. Cool chain restaurant. Great placement to catch the tourists. A few locals had no clue this was a chain at all. Nice.

Always great food when we come to Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. I love me some seafood and I wished Bakersfield had us a Bubba Gump. The food has never disappointed me here. This is one of the reasons I like visiting Santa Monica because of the yummy food. I also like that each time I’ve been here the staff has been great. I like that the restaurant is right by the beach and you’re able to get a view of the water while you’re eating. The atmosphere is pretty casual and nothing extravagant, but the setup is pretty cool as it’s based off the movie. So what can I say? You can order shrimp here… Hahah all kinds of shrimp. At the end of your meal your waiter asks you a series of Forrest Gump questions for fun. This visit was quite funny as my 11 year old asked our waiter a Forrest Gump question which he didn’t know the answer to. All in all, I like the food here. My older son and I can’t get enough shrimp!

Came here over the weekend and we were able to be seated immediately. For a Friday night around dinner time, this place was crowded(as to be expected). The servers were very friendly! I decided to go with fish & chips and also tried the artichoke dip appetizer. The dip was nothing memorable. The fish n chips had a unique breading, more of a chicken tender type which was tasty. The meals were a bit overpriced but with a touristy location like Santa Monica, that’s to be expected. I had a frozen drink which I can’t recall the name of. But it was delish! Also got to take home the cup as a souvenir(mind you the drink was around $ 10) I would come back and try something else but am in no rush to do so.

General info: –Forrest Gump themed seafood restaurant on Santa Monica pier –Expected price per person is around $ 20 – 25 Pros: –I’ve never watched the movie but according to my friends who are big fans, its a really popular spot and one they always wanted to go to. The restaurant is fully decorated with things from the movie and there’s a gift shop outside –Staff was pretty friendly and service was good –You can check out the pier while you’re there Cons: –If you’re not a fan of the movie, then the restaurant just seems like any other seafood restaurant, except more expensive –Parking is nonexistent since the restaurant is located on the pier

Coming to an establishment like this i would expect better service… I love seafood and the seafood wasnt as great… Also the food portions are very small… But the most thing that affected this review was the customer service! My waiter came by once. I waited 45 minutes for my check then another 20 for it to be charged. I had to even ask random associates that were walking around cleaning if they can help me… Overall 1⁄10

Food is mediocre, I’ve actually had better FISH&CHIPS in a diner! First time experience at this establishment and it really wasn’t pleasant. Over Priced We had to come down the elevator and staff is standing blocking the doors laughing and talking while we’re trying to get our party out of the elevator. Ordered a cocktail took a sip and got nothing but FRUITJUICE, asked if maybe they forgot to put in the tequila, even ordering another shot to make my drink even remotely taste of alcohol. Mind you the drink was 12 bucks! Had asked for separate checks, DIDN’T happen. Changed Servers on us twice, and didn’t inform us the 2nd time. Over all. The establishment is clean, however, too many employees standing around talking(near the elevator doors) looking at you as if your interrupting them while on a break? Wish we had eaten at the Burger place instead of spending 150 bucks on a party of 5. BADSERVICE EXTREMELYHIGHPRICEDCOCKTAILS NASTYFOOD.

Went here today and had the worst experience ever! Lets start off with a short backstory. My father had a near FATAL experience(He code blue) at a hospital and this would be the first time we got to really go out since he was released from the hospital about 3 weeks ago. As part of therapy and bringing that social experience back and im pretty sure the beautiful city of Santa Monica would provide such wonderful time for all of us. So I’ve decided to have a little family outing there. First stop Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. We have been on a different one before and had a great time so this place is a «safe bet» especially for someone in a wheelchair and uses an oxygen tank. Lets break down my ratings to understand why I gave the ratings I gave this place. STAFF part 1 = 5STAR The experience started off WONDERFUL thanks to our server Erinn. She is very attentive. She is also very compassionate down to earth kind of person especially after the horrible thing that happened(you’ll see below in Staff part 2). She took GREAT care of us while we were there even if everyone at my table is extremely upset and just trying to finish our food so we can GETOUT of there.(see STAFF part 2 to understand this situation) STAFF part 2 = negative 5 star but since that’s not an option 0STAR While waiting for our food, my father got cold as the table is right below the ac vent. We moved to the booth next to our table… and for a good 5 minutes the food arrived. As we were eating the MANAGER Emma Frowly came up to us and told us we need to move back to our original table. My father’s wheelchair, as she explain, is a fire safety hazard especially if its blocking the way. You need to move because ITSTHELAW as she continue to explain. We did move back, we are very upset of course. I understand about being safety hazard and everything but 2 things… 1st The wheelchair is NOT in anyone’s way and there’s room for 2BIG people to get by if such event does occur. 2nd. in the Original table where we had moved back exactly how we were originally, the wheelchair is in even more way. Barely enough room for the petite server to get by. So I dont understand why this is ok and is NOT a safety hazard but the other one was? Whats really upsetting was that She could of told us to move BEFORE the food arrives or BEFORE we had started eating. By this time we really lost our appetite and almost left right there and then. But my father was already hungry and cannot miss the meal so he could take his medication so we just ate our food as fast as we can so we can leave this now ruined part of our outing. The Food: 1.5STAR I want to give this rating a little higher as I mentioned we have been in a different Bubba Gump and the food was very pleasant there, but here, I cannot say that. Due to the«incident» and us feeling upset, we really could not enjoy the meal but rather consume it so we weren’t hungry for the rest of our outing. If you ever visit this place, I hope you wont have the horrible experience we had. I wish you all to have a fantastic time there in which Im sure you will especially if you get Erinn as your server. Small or big, don’t forget to tip!!!

I never really think I’m going to have anything but a mediocre meal at a chain casual dining restaurant that way I’m never disappointed. Once again I brought a few friends from out if town and they wanted to explore the Pier and grab a bite to eat. Bubba Gumps is easy and has a good view and with their teenagers a pretty good bet they would enjoy something. I was right the food was ok at best. We had a lovely time at a corner table overlooking the ocean. My only real complaint was one of the boys ordered steamed crab and it didn’t arrive until 10 min after we were done eating? Kinda weird for a seafood restaurant to get that timing screwy. Just like most big chains anymore I never saw anyone that appeared to be in charge. Though I didn’t pay the bill I hope they did something for my friend because of the«woops forgot your food dude.» I’m sure I’ll be back for another lackluster dining experience when a friend stops by.

It’s a bit touristy but I like this place. I either like to sit at the bar or get a booth with a view of the beach. I have walked past this place for years. I had a conversation with a friend about where to get popcorn shrimp and Bubba Gump was mentioned. That’s why I finally stepped inside. Sadly, I’m not a fan of their popcorn shrimp. It’s not bad but it’s not the type that I really like. I do love their«Forrest’s Seafood Feast» Hand breaded Fried Shrimp, Fish & Chips and made from scratch Hush Puppies. Served with French fries and homemade dippin’ sauces, Tartar, Cocktail and Remoulade. $ 20.29 I like their hush puppies. I’ve seen people drinking a large cocktail that has an upside down beer bottle in it. I think it’s a margarita with a Corona in it. I’ve got to try that. Service has always been good. Friendly and efficient.

Stopped here Sunday of Labor Day weekend for my boyfriend’s mom birthday for a late lunch. This is one of my favorite stops in Santa Monica to get a bite to eat. Food was, as always, delicious. Four stars reflects on our tables service with the second waiter we had and on the food. Food was decent, considering what we ordered. The clam chowder bowl I ordered is pictured below. It was filling and tastes pretty good. My group and I sat down after waiting 15 mins. Our first waitress was pretty bad. She spent the first five minutes trying to upsell our table on specialty drinks. We know this is normal for restaurants, but her attitude towards bringing us refills was odd once we turned down the upsells. Luckily, she switched with Ray. He was great and attentive to our table. He even played a few trivia questions with us! The first waitress didn’t put in my sisters order and we found that out when the rest of the group got our food. Ray rushed the food order out and apologised on her behalf. I think if we would have started with him, it would have been a great experience.

A Hubba-Bubba-Sunday! Such a beautiful Sunday morning, coming early in the Pier has its many perks; not too many people and we got seated in less than 5 minutes, like most Bubba Gump restaurants, they have«Run-Forrest-Run» & Stop-Forrest-Stop” table signs to signal your server if you need assistance, Remember! «Stop-Forrest-Stop» means you need assistance. We were first seated at the far end of the restaurant which I didn’t mind but since there weren’t many people(yet), I asked our host if we could be transferred to a table by the window overlooking the ocean which he gladly did for us. Our very cool server took our orders, drinks arrived first which I’m so glad to see, a couple glasses of Coronita then an order of the Forrest Seafood Feast! I absolutely love the Coronita, it was so refreshing perfect for this humid weather, I love how the Corona slowly mixes with the margarita which unfortunately did not last long as I downed that pint like a fish out of water(*grin* one more please) The Seafood feast is a beautiful deep fried assortment of hand breaded fried shrimp, hush puppies and fish and chips! so yummy! it comes with 3 delicious sauces, I love the cocktails sauce the best, perfect mix of sweet, tart and savory. I really enjoyed our snack time visit at Bubba Gump’s, having been to a few of their locations both on the East and West coast, I have always had a pleasant time here, catch a few drinks and snack on their delicious deep fried comfort foods, they have a many food options but when I’m with my friends, we just grab a few drinks, snack, sit back and have a good time.

So let me just start by saying that this place has some delicious fried chicken. Some of you are thinking«this guy ordered fried chicken?», but the struggle is real. It’s an addiction and I ain’t ashamed of it. It was a very busy holiday weekend. They wait was about 20 minutes once we added our names on the list. We were seated on the lower level. My buddy and I started off with lemonades and the mixed sampler appetizer. It consisted of chicken, shrimp with cocktail sauce, hushpuppies, and chips with spinach dip. What a great start, as we were starving after several hours of lying on the beach. My main course was the fried chicken plate with a side of mashed potatoes and corn. I can’t stress enough how tasty the fried chicken is. If you want a way into my heart, find me some delicious fried chicken. It was tender, juicy and crunchy all at the same time. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She guided me towards the piece of heaven, aka the fried chicken. Don’t quite remember her name but if I had to guess I’d say, Jessica. Parking is a Terrible around the area most days. Best to find a garage somewhere and walk over.

We’ve been regulars at this Bubba Gump in Santa Monica for years. Last night was the most unpleasant experience I have had here. From the start«our server», Miguel was not attentive what so ever. We simply ordered 2 waters & waited almost half an hour for WATER… Looking around, we see that he was hanging out with people who looked like friends & still… No water… Mind you, we still haven’t ordered. We had to ask another server, Angel, to attend to us. Within minutes Angel had given us our waters, notified us about our orders, & apologized for the wait. It was only until after our drinks were given that Miguel asked to take our order. We let him know we have already been help. Honestly, the only time he ever checked on us was AFTER someone else had checked on us. The whole night, he was glued to his table of friends & even sat down with them(NOT attending to his tables/paying customers). At the end of the end of the night, we requested to speak to the supervisor about our unpleasant experience & notified her none of the tip was to go to Miguel, but to Angel(the one who was actually doing his job & had the best customer service).

I just stopped here for lunch. This place is really busy so expect a wait if you are coming at prime meal times. We were a party of eight do we could have waited 45 minutes to sit together or we could all squeeze into a booth. We opted for the booth and were very cozy. The servers were all great and everyone stopped by to make sure we were happy. The food we ordered was very tasty and came out hot, but was swimming in butter. I ordered the tilapia over garlic mashed potatoes trying to stay away from fried food. At the end of the meal I just wanted to take a nap. Portions were very large and only a few of us were able to finish our meals.
