The VIP tickets are not worth the money as there is no VIP service. When the waitress did finally come over to take our drink order after we already went to the bar to get our own drinks. We were told sorry it is busy. I responded with, so you should be focused on those that pay the premium for table service and not those that don’t. The fact that I had to say this was discouraging. The 3 stars are for the girls of the show which was entertaining.

Huge asshole at the door, with limited vocabulary. How refreshing! One bartender serving the entire bar. How can that be legal? Not allowed to move /mingle while girls are dancing. Isn’t that reserved for theatres, not rock bars? A complete bag of sh*t, as far as bars go. Having said that, the girls were gorgeous and the dancing was top notch. Won’t be going back any time soon though.

Really happy I found this place on Unilocal,i have been looking for a good place for live music. The venue is kinda small but that creates a close ambiance with the the performers. Looking at the line up of artists it seems there’s a wide variety of music and artists. I guess Sunday is known for a burlesque show. Drinks are relatively cheap. $ 7 beers. The crowd really varies in age 20 – 50. The band we saw was a folk/Rock/blues band. They were really good, Brethren of the Coast was their name I believe. Really recommend this place.

Oh boy where do I start? Got here a little early to catch up over drinks with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. We Unilocaled the nearest spot to get some drinks and this spot popped up. First thoughts– I hope this is not the«cheesy» cabaret(is any cabaret not a little cheesy though?) it’s definitely not. The smoke machine was a little much but the sounds that came out of that guys voice was good and got even better the more I drank. He was hypnotizing ! Gritty and dark. Loved it. After while I felt like I was in the 1930 and some dive juke joint — my friends and I had the perfect amount of time to talk before the girls started to hit the bar with heels and long black coats. The drinks honestly could have been a bit more stiffer I felt like they were a little light. But good. I would definitely go back when I’m in the mood. I’ll have drinks first though so I only need one or two when I get there.

Came in during the week to meet a friend for a quick drink and live music …& could not peel myself away! The drinks were stiff and delicious, the crowd was hip but not«too cool», it wasn’t too crowded, and the music was phenomenal ! I didn’t understand why this place wasn’t absolutely packed. Can’t wait to return for another great night.

One of the only places in all of LA with a history and reputation for bringing the best live music in every night of the week. It’s been around since 1932 and has been famous for its blues bands. They now offer bands of different genres on different nights — from reggae, burlesque acts(no joke — dancers hang from the ceiling on hoops, cling to the walls w/restraining devices, and gyrate on the bar — make sure to hold onto ur drinks!), rock-n-roll, alternative and other genres! Blues will always be a part of the lineup and many famous old school blues singers still frequent the place. Check their website to keep up to date!

Was in the mood to listen to some Blues and was surprised to see a hip hop show going on. A little disappointed but a good time nonetheless. The bartender was super friendly and my drinks were delicious and strong. Had a chance to chat up the owner who was extremely friendly and made me remember why I have always loved this place. I just wish they would keep the Blues/R&B vibe going in lieu of Hip Hop

Wednesday nights are the night, this place has been my home for 9 years. I sing because of the magic that comes through these doors… yes there is burlesque but I highly recommend checking the calendar some really talented souls come through here… plus Sheena is my girl behind the bar!

Wow. Great talent and great tunes. I don’t think you see too many bars on the westside like this one. I’d been here twice and both times enjoyed the entertainment(maybe liked the 2nd time better). The 1st time I tried Harvelle’s(I can’t remember title of the show), it was packed on a random Sunday night. Show was great. There was a DJ who played during the intermissions and an awesome violinist came on at one point during show as well. The 2nd time I went to Harvelle’s it was a Thursday night and saw the«Madman’s Paradise» show… The tap dancer lady was my favorite. The blonde chicks were pretty flexible too. Really liked how the dancers somewhat incorporated the audience as well LOL ! Lastly, the singer man was very unique and entertaining to say the least! The only negative thing I can say is that they took a while to start the show-Tickets read 9pm start but the musicians didn’t even start tunning till 9:30. Overall, it was worth the wait.

If you want to hear live music on a weekday for only seven or so bucks, Harvelles is a wonderful option. I showed up a little before 10pm on a Wednesday and it still wasn’t crowded yet. More people started coming later in the night. They don’t serve food but you can order from nearby restaurants and eat the food at Harvelles. We were told there was a 2 drink minimum but I didn’t see that hugely enforced for everyone. Maybe it’s only for the people who sit at a table. Drinks were a bit weak honestly. Our server was super nice and friendly. Wish I remembered her name. The place gets loud, so not sure if it’s the best spot for a date night but maybe after dinner hangout. For live music in Santa Monica, Harvelles is the place to be!

I’m from Chicago and I grew up going to jazz clubs and drinking martinis with my dad. Well, the martini part came later. But still, this place — JAZZ. And blues. That is actually good in LA, none the less in the tourista part of Santa Monica. Check the lineup the night you’re planning to go as sometimes the band kills it and sometimes you’re like«hey, that was fun.» Once I went with my next door neighbor, Brianne. We were the youngest and how do I say this… the best looking people in the place. Which is crazy in Santa Monica because I’m really not that hot… or young. But we had the best night ever dancing to some funky blues with some very eager 70 to 80 year old men. Not that I’m in to that, it was just hilarious. Just to be clear, there is a mixed crowd here most nights. Blues lovers of all sorts. Also, they have a bar with no highfalutin mixologists present so you’re drinking PBRs and/or whiskey with crushed ice rather than a big cube. Which is fine by me. Do yourself a favor and come here after your fancy pants farm-to-table or vegan/glutard-free dinner to check back in to reality.

3.5 stars but lets round up. Fairly straight forward — slightly small(quaint). Reasonable prices on the drinks, service is solid. Great lil venue. Been here a few times for LMN and it’s a great show. I like either the booth closest to the stage or one booth back from closest to the stage near middle of the bar… Or table seating closest to the booths. Essentially you want a view of the stage and the pole BUT also the bar. A lot of cool stuff happens on the bar. Clear the aisle and get ready to enjoy.(though they could change the music up its the same each show). Not sure about other times/events but ya gotta pay for LMN and best to do so in advance online.

Ok.experience.toledo was not all that, there are girls dancing all over the place now which to me didnt fit in. they dance on the serving bar which is a hassle because you have to move your drink or drinks off the counter and pull away from it or they will kick or hit you with their moves. toledo is smoking thruout his whole show, i guess thats why his voice sounds like sandpaper. hard to understand anything he, s saying. the drinks were pretty decent. martini glasses are smaller then average so you, re missing out. the serve no food or dnsck but i did see a store a few places was not what expected at all. did not like it. wont be going back while toledo is playing there anyway.

So not what I expected. Girls dancing all on the bar. The club say blues it feels more a strip club. I couldn’t understand a word the guy was saying. The band its self was good but the singer and the dancers isn’t what I expected. We sat at bar really couldn’t see because everybody was standing in the middle. Didn’t stay long at ALL… I guess if people are drinking they don’t care about music. I don’t need to drink to hear good music. This more last me rock n roll no blues club well at least tonight it wasn’t.$ 10 cover charge.

Live Music is hard to find… I didn’t realize this until I proposed the idea to my date. Thankfully, some people in the world still appreciate the idea that music shouldn’t only to listened too from your car speakers. Harvelles to the rescue. Located in a very odd place in Santa Monica. A nice strip of cool businesses and one Magic place… I wanna see whats going on there. Harvelles is a blast from the past, not in a bad way. But its a Classic. Low lights, nicely appointed banquettes and a long bar. Pros — The musical talent is outstanding Con — They don’t have mint at the bar Pros — the drink are cheap Con — douchebags stand in front of you sometimes for no reason I love this place, great for all ages.

NOTE: I’m giving 3 stars to this venue but wayyyy over 5 stars for the show«Harlow Gold». #Harlowgold is the best show in town. Nothing like I have ever seen before. Can’t break the surprise for you but gotta go once at least. My second time there and I was not disappointed. Tip: Try to get a seat at the very front of the bar. You’ll thank me later. Now about the venue, they could do way better. The place is an extremely average bar with dated furniture, lighting to mildly friendly bartenders. The place was stinky when I went last night perhaps because it’s a long room with barely any ventilation. Unless there was a show happening I would not go to this place to just chill. But did I mention, HARLOWGOLD was fuckin awesome!

Fun, casual, live music place. It’s a long narrow venue, but we managed to find a couple of stools to sit on near the stage. The music was a bit too loud for my taste, but by the time I had a drink, I was dancing and have a great time! The band playing were so tight. Excellent musicians. I even managed to take a great photo too! One doesn’t need reservations. We were spontaneous that night and went late, paid our $ 10 cover and did not know what to expect. We were able to stay for 2 bands and left after 1:30am! Now that’s a great night!
