This is an old review for Jack N Jills I was urged to post. I had to pick up breakfast for my office from Jack N Jills. Let me preface this by saying I LOVE Jack N Jill’s FOOD. ITSDELICIOUS. Their service is why they get 1 star — I would’ve given them negative stars if that was an option but I’ll settle for one. When I arrived to pick up the food I gave the name of the company to the woman at the front desk and the lady at the desk shoved the receipt in my face, told me to sign but didn’t even bother to tell me if the food was done after I paid the check and tipped them. So I moved to the side(which is another HUGE issue, there is no space for people who are picking up orders, you’re basically sitting in the lap of someone who’s dining in) and waited. While I was waiting(aka sitting in a random stranger’s lap), I noticed all the workers in the back sending food out of the kitchen, and people boxing the food up. There were a pile of food boxes sitting there, and everyone seemed to be awkwardly working around them. In my head my first thought was«Maybe thats my food?» and my second thought was«Well, regardless of who’s food it is, why are they all working around the boxes, why don’t they move them or something?» After waiting for 15 minutes I asked the lady if the food was ready(which she should’ve frankly told me before I even signed the receipt) the woman looked to the back where they were bagging the items(and where the pile of food boxes were) and asked one of the guys about my food, one of the guys explained to her that all the food was there INTHEPILEOFBOXES. LETMEBECLEAR, MYFOOD had been sitting, ALLREADYTOGO but everyone had just ignored it, and continued to work around it. Let me also explain, I wasn’t early to pick up the food, I wasn’t late either, there was no reason for this. Wow. So the lady precedes to tell me «Oh you’re food’s right here we’re just waiting for someone to bag it for you and she goes to help another person. My jaw is on the floor. Meanwhile there are about 3 people on their phones, standing next to my food. At that point I said to the woman«I’m sorry I’m confused, if the only thing that is between me and getting my food is someone bagging it, then I WILLBAGIT.» The lady had the«DUH» moment and asked one of the guys on their phones to bag my food. I would’ve done it myself had i known i’d be waiting for 25+ minutes. This food was not worth it. Completely unimpressed. My company usually buys $ 500 + worth of food per order, and we are regulars but the service is lousy to say the least. Our company has decided we are not coming back to this establishment. There are so many other great breakfast places in Santa Monica, its not worth giving money to companies that jeopardize our food(which is 90% of the time served to high-end clients). Hopefully they get some new management to whip these lazy people into shape or at least hire 4 people so that when my food is boxed up and waiting for SOMEONE to bag it, the three dudes in the back can continue to watch youtube videos on their phone while one person bags my food.

Delicious! Wanted to order delivery but apparently that doesn’t begin in the city till 11, so I ordered anyway… knowing my famished arse better get up and fetch my food for the day if I want quality. All while famished I ordered the breakfast burrito with tater tots. I didn’t care for the salsa, actually… in my opinion, it was kinda gross, carried a very loud and harsh untraditional flavor, the guacamole was great though. Food can use a little more salt. Coffee was tasty. There you go folks, my humble opinion.

What a cute little breakfast place! My friend and I came here after a morning run at Santa Monica Beach. I love cute breakfast cafes like this– it reminded me of when I was traveling Europe and would eat at little cafes like this. By that I just mean it doesnt look like a chain restaurant and it’s got a warm welcoming vibe going on. The service is friendly which is always important to me.

As i walked toward the 3rd Street me and my Grandma on wheelchair came across this café, Which happened to be a not so Pleasing experience. The Staff seemed Busy enough to not greed us and no one came to help me Drag my Grandma wheelchair inside and make some room for her in front of by the window. I had the Cappuccino with soy milk, the cup and saucer where both dirty and old, and the coffee tasted so old and bitter, tasted so watery that, i called the girl over to explain the situation, she wasn’t happy at all, she tried to convince me that there is noting wrong with it, after i insisted she changed my coffee. noting was surprising from the second cup either. Will not go back there, not the Décor, unfriendly staff, bad Cappuccino, nor the pricy menu surprised me.

I am not a huge fan of the order-at-the-counter-and-seat-yourself type restaurants.(and then they ask for a tip). The food is really yummy — but in a super crowded city like the greater LA area — this concept just doesn’t work(see review on Huckleberry). I stress out about what to order with people behind me, I stress out about finding a table, I stress out with people hovering for my table. II use stress lightly, but it’s not my ideal eating situation.

Bottom line at the top: AMAZING homdemade warm mini blueberry muffins, you must get these as a side if they are an option! Plenty of options if you feel like breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any time of day. – Came by here today around 2PM when I was hoping to eat some breakfasty things. i had the high protein scramble(pulled chicken, turkey bacon, etc.) with freshly baked mini muffins and fruit. I also had a cup of mac and cheese. The scramble was good, but hugee. I think some of the preparation is lazy though because the chopped onions were barely cooked. The mac and cheese is soooo good. Mac and cheese is one of my favorite things to eat and it is absolutely on point here. Service here is pretty nonexistent and the staff is lukewarm at best. The place is cute though and the yellow is sure to brighten up your day. :)

I wished NYC had swag like Jack N Jills. Fck the hill. Jack N Jill stay chillin’ on Santa Monica Blvd, with number tags for ya’ll while you order first and wait at your table. Cute ass place with an upstairs as well for more more fackin’ space. All you gotta do, for real, is order the oatmeal strawberry pancakes. Gosh, and their muffins. They got MUFFINTOPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ya’ll. Dope gem for breakfast and brunch.

We have one client who loves to order from here. The food is good no question. The delivery service via seamless is less than efficient. Today our order to be delivered by 1:15 pm(placed an hour ahead) arrived at 1:40 pm. The driver acted like he was Carl Lewis sprinting up and running out(probably because the delivery drivers have to put their flashers on in the alley). I had to call twice because the pdf menu online for their Santa Monica location is out of date compared to the online menu used when actually placing orders. The second was to check on the status of the delivery. Both times I was greeted immediately but placed on hold for several minutes. I get it, they are busy but they should have more delivery drivers and perhaps consider expanding their kitchen space. There are only a handful of tables in the restaurant for dine-in so clearly the demand during lunch hour and weekends too is probably exceeding their space, number of employees etc. It’s kind of like ordering from Tacos Por Favor. The food is worth it, good quality ingredients, but the wait is maddening. If you have a hungry or impatient person, this is not the place to order delivery or even pick up from.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jack n’ Jill’s! They’ve got crisp edged fluffy crepes with an assortment of fillings and toppings, the freshest salads accompanied by unique dressings, juicy rotisserie chicken, and a diverse collection of wraps and other menu items. If you’re like me, you always leave(or make) room for dessert! Amongst the wide variety of buttery goodness, my all time favorite has to be the melt in your mouth blueberry muffins. Unlike other muffins that have a light oily texture, they have a «sponginess» to them… MmmMmm, mouthwatering goodness!

You know what Jack N’ Jill’s is? It’s cute, and it’s local, and those are two things that I really appreciate in the hustle and bustle of Santa Monica. Oh, and did I mention it serves up some solid breakfast? Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? Like I mentioned? Cute and local. JnJ has some great, prompt service even on a busy Sunday morning, and their trendy location and very cool dual-tiered seating arrangement make for a great breakfast/brunch option. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Oh yeah here’s my credit card for my $ 12.00 breakfast burrrrrrr… wait what?!? $ 12.00? Hold the phone folks. Is it big? Absolutely. Are there potatoes included? Yes. In fact, have a look: It’s very, very large, but is it worth $ 12.00? No. No combination of somewhat simple ingredients wrapped in a tortilla is worth $ 12.00. No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? You know what’s interesting about breakfast burritos? They’re damn well hard to mess up. At the same time? It’s hard to really nail it, and JnJ didn’t quite nail it to the degree that would have me dreaming about it. The ingredients were fresh and the chorizo truly excellent, but my burrito simply didn’t have the ‘pop’ that I’ve found elsewhere. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I’ve had better breakfast burritos, and I’ve had them for a hell of a lot cheaper than $ 12.00. All in all? I’ve experienced better.

I’m not a huge fan of feeling really hungry, but when I’m feeling really hungry in Santa Monica during Jack N’ Jill opening hours, I get really excited because… I’m going to Jack N’ Jill’s! Upstairs has only been open once the times I’ve visited. The waitresses are nice. I ordered a cappuccino but it was actually foam with about two ounces of coffee. After taking layers of foam off my beverage and putting onto the saucer the waitress came over laughed and offered to get me a latte. She returned my drink for me! really nice of her because I would have never complained. As for the food, I usually get the fresh and fit thing because it’s good. yup it’s good. that’s my description of the food option. crêpe, yogurt, fruit, turkey bacon yum. The free water is pretty interesting. They throw in cucumber and fruit and the like so not only are you drinking water(good for you), you’re drinking water an even healthier way. Love some healthied up water.

Don’t want full vegan Real Food Daily, or something heartier than Tender Greens? Jack N’ Jill’s is one of my favorite go-to healthier lunch spots! Love all their wraps, paninis and sandwiches, which come with either fruit, fries, or a side of chili — yum! Good portions, they cater, and now they’re open for dinner too!(Just more proof that they are legit, and are able to sustain being open for lunch only in bustling Santa Monica!)

There’s one thing I learned about getting some breakfast in SM, which is go early especially on weekends. J&J’s opens at 8am and we were there around 8:30am. Scored on sick parking right in front and the meters didn’t kick in for another 30 minutes. The place was already occupied by locals and dedicated Saturday morning patrons. There must have been a yoga studio nearby because the Lululemon apparel wearing women strolled in one after another. They have a simplified menu on the boards but I’d recommending using their menu to see all their options. Also, be on the look out for any specials if they have any. You simply order at the counter, find an empty table(there’s extra seating upstairs), put your number on your table, and wait for your food to be served to you. There’s a fresh water station accompanied by utensils and a variety of sugars and creamers downstairs. There should be condiments already strategically located wherever you decide to park your heiny. In a sense, it’s almost a do it yourself style place but that shouldn’t deter you from leaving a tip if you choose to eat in house. On this morning, I was feeling like a champ so I ordered the Country Fried Steak($ 12): hand breaded cube steak fried golden brown with country gravy and three sunny-sides up eggs. It also came with corn bread and old school style tator tots. Ask the cashier for other available side options. Talk about 1500+ calories in one shot. Good thing I only ate half and packed the rest to go. The country fried steak paired with the eggs was a nice touch. I only wished they gave me more gravy. You know exactly what you are getting into when you order a dish such as this, so you might as well make it rain. The tator tots though just a few pieces were very crunchy and reminded me of my elementary days when I use to get them with my yellow lunch tickets except this was much, much better. I normally don’t order a behemoth of a breakfast like this but once in a while you’re just in the mood to kill it. The corn bread was just eh, should’ve gotten the Texas cheese toast or blueberry muffin instead. She had her usual, The Benedict($ 12): Canadian bacon, poached eggs, and avocado stacked on English muffins with fresh hollandaise. It was sided with cheese grits. Took a bite of it all and thought it was tasty. I’m not a big Benedict guy nor by any means a connoisseur of it, so I can’t really comment on the greatness of the dish. She did seem satisfied with it though. To top off my hefty breakfast, I threw in a regular sized mug of their Cinnamon Roll Latte($ 3.75). First off, I wasn’t sure if it was a regular or the large because the contents looked like it easily rivaled a big cup of soup. If you are apathetic or dislike cinnamon, then do not order this because this one is for all the cinnamon lovers out there. I didn’t have to add anything to this latte for it’s already pre-sweetened and packed with lots of flavors. Some of you bitter coffee types may even say it’s a bit too sugary for your tastes. They do have a nice array of coffee, tea, and juice options as well as baked goodies. This one girl came in for a parfait and she made me want to come back just to give it shot. Two dishes and a latte came out to about $ 30 – 35 with tip. Service was good and they have an onesy style bathroom downstairs next to the kitchen. If you plan to dine here, make sure you wake up nice and early because it will surely get crowded. It doesn’t help that the place isn’t too big either. They do have two other locations in Beverly Hills and on 3rd Street in LA. However, I think this is the only location that is currently opened for dinner. J&J’s — not too shabby. Another Santa Monica breakfast joint down & many to go.

Jack N’ Jill reminds me of the rhyme and it’s a cute space. When you go in, you see the dessert display and the counter where you order and the kitchen behind. You order and you can take a seat in the downstairs area or go upstairs on its small mezzanine level. There is no wait service, but your order is brought to you. The staff has always been nice and accommodating to me. Some meals come with mini muffins or corn bread; I usually go for the former. I liked their gumbo, but it has been a while. I also tried their rotisserie chicken and it was good. I enjoyed chicken tortilla soup. The last time I was there I had the BBQ burger since my friend, the first time I went with a party of 9, once said that a place is as good as the burger and So I had a hardy lunch the other day. Most entrees are medium price. I’ve also had desserts. The red velvet cupcake is okay compared to the many cupcake places I go to. Yummy Cupcakes and Vanilla Bakeshop aren’t too far away if you are craving a good cupcake in the area. I do like their cookies since they’re a good price and I’d try the peanut butter with Nutella over the chocolate chip(though you can’t go wrong with the latter). This place is alright. I have lunch here every now and then since it’s walking distance from my work.

This place was a cute little lunch spot my girlfriends and I went to on a Sunday afternoon. It was small but it did have two levels for seating. We found a spot to sit after ordering our food; it wasn’t packed but they had people coming in and out. For a small place they have a pretty good selection of food: breakfast, sammiches, crepes, dessert, etc. The almond chicken salad I ordered was ok but the blueberry pancakes that my friend got was pretty good. They even gave us some complimentary cupcakes by the end of our meal. We split one and decided to give the rest to the table next to us. Overall, this place was ok. If I were in the area I would probably try some place else… but it I was hungry and everywhere was packed I would settle for it.

Never have I been so torn about a restaurant like this. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Jack N’ Jill’s…the food is amazing and it’s conveniently located steps away from yoga. Well let’s start with the goods: — The Healthy Breakfast Bowl(sauteed veggies and chorizo with brown rice topped with poached egg but I like mine fried) — Jill’s Combo(simple egges with sausage or bacon) — House Scramble(goat cheese, spinach, sundried tomato, avocado & basil) ***this is one of my favs — Beverly Frittata(egg whites with ground turkey) a healthy and light dish The eggs & omelette dishes comes with a choice of blueberry mini muffins(highly recommended), texas cheese toast(nah), or corn bread. The home-style potatoes are so freakin good! This is the part I’m struggling with… I’ve been going here long enough to take note of patterns and consistent issues. The SERVICE wreaks! I don’t remember once of all the times I’ve been there where service was phenomenal or at least average: — forgot my order with long wait(this happens almost half the time I’m there) — forgot my coffee(several instances) — remembered my coffee but forgot to bring utensils(wait another 20 mins) how am I supposed to stir the sugar and cream in??? — remembered my coffee but forgot the cream(wait another 20 mins) — what is the fuckin deal with the waiting line? — Don’t have me wait in line to order food for about 10 mins and have some waitress come up to me and say I have to go back outside write my name up on the list. ESPECIALLY when I see there are two empty tables and only 1 person waiting outside. — Get your act together… hire more people and/or have a consistent system in place. You’re like a fuckin lover that I can’t get rid of. I’m still gonna tolerate your shit cause I love your food so much. I’m just hoping you can take this review seriously and retrain your staff and come up with a better game-plan.

They just started their dinner. I think it was okay. Order at the cashier and find your own table. The price was around $ 10+ for each dish. Salad is big, and fulfill. But I never think salad will taste great… it’s just my diet choice. The chicken is actually pretty juicy and flavorful and also cheap. At last, the waiter sent us a crêpe as free dessert! It was very nice of him. I’m not a big fan of crêpe, it failed to impress me.

Cute café in downtown Santa Monica that’s great for breakfast, lunch, and of course, brunch. Its small, quaint, and offers the typical California Fresco fare that’s to be expected of the area. Scrambles, pancakes, french toast, sandwiches, wraps, etc. You get the idea. Everything hovers around $ 10 — $ 12(which again is to be expected of the area). So what makes Jack N’ Jills stand out? Phenomenal organic coffee, that’s what. Yep, you heard me, their coffee is some of the best I’ve ever had. I have no idea what blend it is, but its very good and only costs $ 2.25 for a large. Well worth it and a nice change from Starbucks. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way, however, was that they had the audacity to try and charge me .50 cents for a splash of soy milk for my coffee. Thats ridiculous. Sure if your whole latte is soy, charge away, but for a dash of creamer its kind of outrageous. I objected to the price and was stoked when the girl didnt charge me(«just this once» she said). Silly policies about the soy, but cute café. oh and check out the pic I uploaded of their cinnamon roll muffins. omg. They look insane. Try not to drool on your keyboard…

What a cute space, cute name and logo, friendly efficient staff but what a shame for blah overpriced food. I’m never one to complain about the cost of food but $ 16(+ an extra $ 3 for a tip) for a flavorless Sammy and iced tea is just crazy. Kind of bummed right now as I finish the rest of my Tropical Iced Tea(best thing of my meal). I ordered the Chicken BLTA with Onion Rings. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but it’s what I ordered. It was the little things that made this meal lame. First, my onion rings were not crispy at all. Completely flimsy and soggy with no crunch. My «toasted» cracked wheat bread that my Sammy was served on was barely toasted on the top bread and not a lick of toasted on the bottom half. The sandwich filling was plenty but the chicken was bland. The thick cut apple wood bacon in my Sammy was limp and rubbery. Why ruin such a perfect bacon with not cooking it to its perfection.): I want to stress though that the staff working was awesome. The cashier that helped me was really sweet. I sat at the cute solo window table in the front and it was dirty when I sat down. The busser was coming down the stairs and came over right away to clean it. The food did take a little long to come out but the gal that brought it was friendly enough to make up for that. Another gal came by to check on my meal and to ask if I wanted a tea refill. When I was done, the first gal came back to clear my plate and the other gal asked again if I wanted more tea. And when I left they said thanks for coming in. All menu items sound sooo good so it’s a bummer that my lunch sucked. I would like to come back here to give them another go but that will probably only happen if someone is like ‘hey let’s go eat at Jack n Jill’s”
