This please is a legitimate Japanese Resturant that has some of the best Roman I’ve ever had! I was shocked how great it was! The vibe was nice with authentic Japanese interior, felt like you were in japan.(My home country) 素晴らしい料理

I used to like coming here when it was named Hakata. Since they have changed to Kimuya the new servers just suck. They take their sweet time and act like you are not there. Tried to order a ½ roll and the server tells me they don’t do that anymore. I know they do because I was here yesterday and had no problem ordering a half roll. Time to find a new sushi spot. I really like the sushi here but the service has gone out the window.

You probably won’t get sick from the food, but check your blood glucose levels because the lunch bento teriyaki is heavily sauced. Maybe ask for a spoon because the way the bento platter is designed and plated you’ll have to spin it around(angle of attack is challenging with chopsticks. Oh and I think if you want a pleasant server you must pay extra or be one of the sushi chefs. One guy keeps touching himself and I don’t think he washes his hands before making sushi too: so be careful of salt too? Haha Final note: it’s wonderful to visit a restaurant where hospitality obviously is not on the menu. Or maybe the servers simply don’t like paying customers, which I gathered from the way she tossed the check on the table without me asking. Too bad you kicked me out before I had the chance to count out more money for the tip. On the plus side, I’ve been here for the beer at night. It’s good.

Great place. Sushi is cheap and consistent. I come here monthly and always get good service and know what I am getting. They have sports, happy hour and speedy service. Its a great place compared to the other local sushi spots and I recommend it.

Meh. I’ve had way better sushi. The service is way to slow. It’s like the waitress forgot about us and it truly ruined my meal. Recommended menu items: The Monica Salmon Tempura Monkey Balls

If you’re looking for decently priced sushi and beer at a laid-back venue with lots of TVs, then look no further than Kimuya. The happy hour menu from 4pm-11pm everyday is a major key. Happy hour includes special rolls from ~$ 6-$ 9.95 and apps(gyoza, bbq short ribs, etc) at $ 3.95. They also have glasses of Sapporo for around $ 2.99 and pitches available. So already, we are looking at a pretty good selection of value-priced sushi and drinks to watch the game or hang out with friends. How’s the sushi? Its pretty tasty and will fairly satisfy the craving. You’re not suppose to compare it to a Sugarfish or sushi grade of that ilk, but more like a little step above Sushi Stop. Service here is overall decent at best. May be tough at times to flag someone down. But definitely good enough all around to warrant a couple regulars at Kimuya. They have this dessert with tempura oreas and ice cream that is superb. Sounds weird, but tastes delicious. There’s a parking lot in the back or street parking on Wilshire out front.

I like this place! 4 – 11 happy hour everyday. Let me start by the greeting as I entered the door. The lady greeted me with full smile. Introduced me to the place coz she asked if I have ever been there before. I told her its my first time. I ordered the Kimuya roll since they had their name on it so I figured they should be proud of it. Miso soup here is the best and flavorful I’ve had in a while! While the tempura wasn’t oily(which is good), it wasn’t too pleasing to my taste buds. Overall, great experience! I’ll be back for sure.

The food is decent at best, but the service is non existent. They are extremely rude, condescending and unwilling to accommodate their patrons. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. 1 star is being generous!

Really good lunch specials. Totally recommend the bento box special. A lot of food! They even had gluten free soy sauce! Big plus. The only negative was there were only two waitresses for the whole place, and it took over 30 minutes to even get her to the table — we had to ask three times We got there at 1:30 and did not get a waitress until 2 pm. After we ordered, the food came out really really fast and was wonderful. Bento box lunch was around $ 14 plus tip. A good deal. Next time we go to the sushi bar to order.

If you are looking for a cheap sushi fix, then this is your place! Happy hour runs from 5 – 11PM every day! Yup, every day. We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately(the place was not even close to filled up compared to Hara Sushi down the street). A bar fills the middle of the restaurant with plenty of TV’s for you sports watchers — and excellent deals on drinks(i.e., $ 10 pitchers of Sapporo!). Noticing the happy hour menu, we went to town: Monkey Ball appetizer(deep-fried spicy tuna and mushroom) — semi-interesting flavor with a delicious sauce but the slightly cooked tuna on the edges was a deal breaker for me. Albacore Delight Roll(mixed fish with seared albacore and fried onion to top) — weird mixture that kind of worked/the seared albacore was my favorite(and potentially only good?) part. Sapporo Roll(spicy tuna topped with salmon) — salmon on top was chewy… yuck! Also: spicy California and eel+avo rolls — exactly what you’d expect and nothing more. Overall, I was not impressed by Kimuya but they do have very, VERY cheap happy hour deals for places I’ve been to in this area. Additionally, the service was good but nothing special. So if you’re looking for some sushi just to quench that craving and for super cheap drinks then this is your place!

Came here twice, the first time I met some friends for a few drinks and mochi. They had already been there for happy hour sushi and drinks. The second time I actually tried there sushi which is pretty decent considering its Happy Hour all night. Had the spicy tuna on crispy rice which was humongous but yummy! The BCD roll and firecracker roll were both pretty bomb, probably my two favorites. Also had some of the agadashi tofu, which I thought was pretty tasty. The albacore delight with fried onions was okay, but probably my least favorite. Also partly because we ordered way too much food and this came last. But overall this place is great — decent and tasty sushi, and good happy hour beers.

Love this place. atmosphere is with music just above talking level So you can talk and groove if u happen to be a third wheel.Lol. other than that, halibut appetizers were great. Roll it up with the jalapeño in it and boom, tasty. Will be back.

A co-worker treated me to some happy hour sushi here… OHMY I’m such a fan! This place is so good! They have a really good happy hour menu that’s half off! The sushi quality is top notch and the specialty rolls are awesome and huge! The place is really big inside too with great, fast service! There are booth’s everywhere, a sushi bar and a regular bar too… I was so full and satisfied when I left! The garlic edamame was DELISH! My only complaint is that the music was way too loud and street parking only.

Pretty solid sushi spot that offers AYCE on Sundays ONLY for $ 35. Street parking only, but it’s east enough that you should be able to find a spot. The street parking looked to be metered only, but if you go Sunday you don’t need to pay. The AYCE menu was pretty extensive, offering appetizers(including some small kitchen items), hand rolls, regular rolls, noodles, and a few other items. On the Sunday that we went, the restaurant was pretty dead so we were served pretty quickly. The fish is pretty fresh and solid as far as taste. We tried mostly the fresh rolls(rainbow, hawaiian, philly, spicy salmon, etc.). We also tried the lobster roll, which was pretty good as well. Service was good. The sushi chef was friendly and attentive and the server was friendly and quick to re-fill our drinks. Overall, a good place to go for AYCE(because the westside seems to lack in this area) if you are willing to pay $ 35 per person.

Man, I don’t know about this place. Huge, for one and a bit cold. The food was OK, not anything great. Seemed fresh(thank god) and the bento box was really just OK. The beef was tough and the salmon overcooked, other than that… perfect lol. Hey, the rice was good! All the sashimi and sushi at the table looked good and no one complained, but in the land of very good options for sushi… this is not up there. Service was quick and nice. Parking is a plus, plenty of it… kinda like the rice. Not sure I’d rush back to go.

So I did like the food here. I got the Bento box with your choice of various items. I got the Katsu and a tuna roll. It came with side like miso and salad. Bonus was the parking in the back. Service was great and the restaurant is surprisingly large! I was disappointed because I did come here expecting AYCE but they no longer have this.

We stopped here for lunch today, based on some of the reviews and being in the area. Several things jumped out at me initially. The printed signs taped to the walls requesting cash tips seemed more than a little tacky. I included a picture of this, but the restaurant reported it and for some reason Unilocal deleted it. Very sad, these signs are the primary reason I would never go back. The place had lots of TVs hung all over the room, with bird nests of nasty wiring showing which seemed a little on the tacky side as well. We ordered two full specialty rolls and two half rolls, all of which were quite tasty. No complaints really about the food. The service was a little lacking, ending up with us paying for our meal and leaving without any of the empty dirty plates ever having been removed from the table. A quick stop in the bathroom before leaving continued the impression of a lack of pride in the establishment. The men’s room was old and dingy and filthy, and one of the two urinals had a nice big black trash bag tied over it with an out of order sign. I just don’t understand how management of an establishment can allow such an obvious lapses in pride show to their customers. Four stars for food, two stars for atmosphere and condition of the premises and service.
