I just submitted to edit this business’ info because it is now closed and has been transformed into Main on Main street. I wouldn’t want any of you to show up there and be disappointed! Mor was really sheik and fun and had a great crowd and the décor was a different feel for main street that it is definitely lacking now with red velvet curtains and lounge sofas and chairs. Let’s hope they reopen this venue somewhere else soon! Hasta la vista Mor…

Wow I can’t believe they’re shutting Mor Bar down(or so I read from the other Unilocalers!). I had a birthday there 2 years ago and used to frequent the bar whenever I have a chance while I lived in LA. This was always a fun place to go. A place where the bartenders were always very nice and made great drinks and a place where you can count on the music to be good. The downside of the Mor Bar was that it was a bar and charged cover $ 10 or so after a certain time. Thanks anyways Mor for all the great times had by all…

These are my memories of Mor Bar from a couple years ago, on my friend’s birthday… Getting wasted beyond belief, dancing on the stage with my girlfriends and making believe that I was actually coordinated enough to stay up there pretty much all night, and making out with one of the bouncers. I’m a silly goose goose. I believe the night also involved skinning my knee and marveling at the fact that I’d driven home so well. Shhhhhh don’t tell anyone. That was the only time I’d ever been to Mor Bar and I never returned, but I’m sad to hear they’re shutting down.

R.I.P. to the Mor Bar. I had some great times both DJing and dancing at this spot, smoking innumerable cigs with my Rotunda homies out front. Sunday’s were our night once a month, so that was my favorite night(of course). But every Tuesday with the Moontribe guys was rockin’ too. In all, any night with house or techno was on point here. I will miss the drinking and dancing.

I would say Mor Bar has the POTENTIAL to be a decent night spot — but then I found out they are not just starting out, but closing. I suppose this explains why everyone seemed to only be marginally into the whole vibe. My bestie(the infamous Kate E.) chose the Mor Bar as the destination for her birthday this year. The bar seemed on top of things: we easily reserved two tables, we were not required to buy over-priced bottle service(there was a $ 25 fee per table though — which would have gone TOWARDS the bottle service, had we wanted it) and they took care of storing the cake when we arrived, lighting it and bringing it out with utensils when the clock struck midnight and Kate’s actual birthday commenced. The DJ was decent and the dance floor heated up as the night went on. Everyone was in their Halloween finest(or sluttiest, as the case may be) and the bar was even decorated accordingly(although we couldn’t figure out if some things were decoration or simply due to the moving process). My main quibbles were the fact that this place does not have its own bathroom. You are required to walk to the back, through a door to the bar NEXTDOOR(O’Briens) which lets you out on the stage where they usually have a live band playing. Awkward? Confusing? Not a good plan when you have been drinking? All of the above. Two bars sharing one bathroom that only has two stalls? Terrible, cruel idea. Plus the fact that if the door that lets you in to O’Brien closes, you’re locked out and have to go OUT O’Briens and BACK into Mor Bar. Come on. I realized towards the end of the night that reserving(and paying) for tables was unnecessary as random patrons would just sit down where they could and none of the bar staff seemed too concerned/aware. I guess it’s a good thing Mor Bar is on it’s way out.

omg. i had a lemondrop and 3 martinis here. I think after the last swallow of the 3rd martini, i was officially wasted. They didn’t taste that good but they were strong. plus they were on the rocks in a regular glass — not very classy. the music is decent. hip-hop, R&B and some old skool. But the dj’s were doing this A.D.D. mix of –you-only-get-one-verse-and-chorus-of– the-song-kind of thing. It’s a crime to cut«Erotic City» down to just a verse and chorus. That is the quintessential dry hump song and you just have to play the whole thing or you can’t call it a good nite! nevertheless — i got my sexyback on. The crowd is quite mixed. the décor is not as lush as i thought it would be, and since i don’t remember anything past 12:15am, i guess it was fine. My best friend says she took me to the back room where there’s a bar so i could stop sweating on the dance floor like a pig, but i have no recollection. i guess it’s hard to write a review about a club when you don’t really remember what the hell happened. But then i guess that means I hadagoodtime???

I went to Mor Bar to check out its Wed Salsa night. The people were friendly and the music was good. However, the place was really small, the floor was uneven, and the ventillation was horibble. I could withstand the former two conditions but not the last. It was so hot that I was sweating even before I started dancing. I left after 30 minutes and would never go back.

Arrived around 11:30pm on Saturday night, no line, no wait, cover was $ 10. Crowd: A good number of people but not crowded. Very multi-ethnic. For the size of the crowd a good ratio of attractive girls and they were friendly. Service: Bartenders were friendly and fast. No long lines for drinks. Place: It’s on the smaller side. Reminds me of Lounge 217. Long bar along the left, a few high tables along the right, a lounge area under a tent at front with couches, dancing towards the back, and another smaller room with a smaller bar behind the dancing area. Drinks: Shots are strong, not watered down. $ 8.50 for a shot of Kettle One. Dress code: Very casual.

There are many things I look forward to doing in my free time and one of them is writing Unilocal reviews completely drunk. This review was meant to be written that way, early this morning, after going to Mor Bar last night with a date who will remain nameless and completely anonymous. Let’s just say he, she, he/she, post-op, or pre-op was the main reason why I couldn’t write this review drunk. Why? Because he, she, he/she, post-op, or pre-op bought me WAY too many drinks that I’m lucky I walked out of Mor Bar as oppose to crawling out. Flashback to 8 p.m., Saturday night: Sober me: «Hey, are you down for one or two drinks tonight?» He, she, he/she, post-op, or pre-op: «Sure.» Fast forward to 12:45 a.m., Sunday morning: (Eight glasses of Grey Goose rocks/tonics in my system.) Drunk me: «Uh, um, uh, yeah… no more Grey Goose rocks, please.» He, she, he/she, post-op, or pre-op: «Aww, c’mon, one more!» Drunk me: «Uh, um, uh, yeah… OK, one more.» Results: 1. We drank so much, the bartender comp’d us a couple of drinks. 2. I drank so much, I actually thought Mor Bar was a cool spot.(It’s not) 3. I drank so much, my sense of reality was awakened by the drive-thru intercom at Jack in the Crack when I realized I was in line for some food and didn’t recall actually driving there to get some food. 4. My date drank so much, he, she, he/she, post-op, or pre-op forgot his, her, his/her, post-op, or pre-op’s house and car keys in my car. 5. I drank so much, the remnants of my drinking so much is still lingering if I’m giving Mor Bar four stars. What I learned: I love Grey Goose!

Hubby and I tried this place out recently when we got Granny to babysit the wee one for the night. We were in the mood to shake our booties. We got there about 5 minutes before they started charging cover. Right away, we both liked that the place is nice & dark. It’s also VERY casual. We saw a guy wearing saggy jean shorts. Yeah. We had a few drinks at the bar. Bartender was GREAT — poured very strong drinks. My lemon drops were quite potent. We finally got up to dance around 11pm or so. The dancefloor is pretty small. The bartender told us that the AC was malfunctioning, so they brought out a huge fan that people were pretty much fighting to be in front of all night. We hung out for a while in the back lounge area since the front area seemed to be reserved(sectioned off). It was nice to have a place to just chill when we needed a break. The one thing that turned me off was, surprisingly, the music — far too commercialized. I was not really interested in going back down the Bell Biv Devoe memory lane with«Poison.» :-/The old school stuff tended to be songs that were really, REALLY overplayed when they were out. It wasn’t terrible… just a little less edgy than I’d like. All in all, we’ll probably try Barcopa next time, but we’d consider coming back to Mor Bar. It was a nice time in a laid-back atmosphere.

My partner in crime and I are invited out by a house DJ to check out this place called Mor Bar which apparently has a cool Moroccan theme to it and some good DJs(local house favorites such as Jason Bentley etc). We get there on a Wednesday night, it’s not crowded nor empty. It was awesome. It’s a great place to chill with a small group and just escape into the wonder soothing sounds of house music and really just lounge, or dance if that’s your thing. Happy Hour drink specials are pretty decent(mostly beer and wines) but an all around good time. Love the vibe of the people there very non-pretentious and happy go lucky for LA especially on the westside. Definitely going to go back to check out the crowd on a Friday. Can’t wait!

Short version: friendly crowd, great place to shake your tail-feather. Long version: pssst get here before 10 and there’s no cover: JENN L APPROVED!!! more buck-age to put towards drinks! they serve food late but after 10 forget speedy service the waitress will be so busy expect to see once every hour. she also hovered about when i trying to figure out tip, a little awkward but hey girlfriend wants to make sure she gets her money. my friend got a sammich and it was served w/coleslaw, we never got silverware(my helpful suggestion — «scoop it in your mouth with your hands!» was promptly shot down) but i must say they filled that sammich to the gills, she was trying to look cute while eating and sexy just isn’t happening when you’re cramming a huge-azz sammich in your mouth. For some freakish reason I was feeling like wine(at a club, i know im setting myself up for disaster). their cab is not all that but i felt oh-so-sophisticated while the rest of the lushes waved around their long-islands. It DOES get crowded around 11 but not to the point of uncomfortable(ex: Arsenal). the DJ is pretty good and was bringing a good mix of hip hop, after 11 i noticed it moves to the more mainstream candy but as long as i can shake it, i am a happy girl. there is a smaller bar in the back room near the dinky restrooms. They also have cabana tents in the front that have an oasis feel for parties. their«stage» is set up on some huge metal drum looking things — drunk girlies were dancing on top after being boosted up by their friends — nobody fell when i was there but i was waiting for someone to eat it. the crowd is super friendly, there was a good vibe and i give THAT two thumbs up! i definitely plan on going back and i’ll probably leave the place like Diana N did, so don’t be disgusted if you see me on Main Street afterwards. Also if you are one of those token people who STAND on the mo’eff’ing dance floor and CHAT — take it to the bar chickens!!! the dance floor is small enough without you taking up precious booty-shaking space. :D The Big Blue Bus # 8 drops you off close by, just pay attention and don’t miss the stop like i did. :(

tuesday night its $ 2 here, they play electronic music… starting to see a pattern in my outtings? Anyways, my friend was spinning here this night, it has been forever since ive come over to the«west side». You cant beat $ 2 cover, pretty good sound system, I like the interior of this place. very morracan-esque. Good drinks. The crowd this night was kinda hippie-ish, moontribers. So if you have a problem with old men hippies and body odor you might want to try this place on a different night. If you go to their website it has all the different nights. Also, its by the beach so there’s only street parking. It was worth going all the way to santa monica…

I like this place. It’s a nice mix of dancing/chilling. They have high-tables with stools(not too many) and a lounging area that’s Moroccon-inspired. If you want to dance, there’s decent amount of room. It’s not a huge dance floor, and the entire club is smaller than most. It’s a good place to go with a close group of friends rather than a bunch of acquaintances, as there isn’t much place to escape. I believe I went on a Saturday night, and they were playing hip hop. It was mostly mainstream hip hop music, and a few from years back. It’s worth checking out, althought there might have been a cover charge.

I think I’ve gone here on every single night and I always usually have a good time. The only thing is that it gets too crowded on the weekends where everyone’s pushing and shoving their way to the bar. Salsa nights on Mondays used to be fun until all the show-offs take over the dancefloor which is no longer fun. Not sure if they still have 80s night on Wednesdays — but that was super fun and they also projected 80s movies on the wall. Thursday nights is always fun when they have special house djs coming in from wherever. Good vibe there on Thursdays. Sunday — I used to go when it was Magik Fingers dj’ing excellent house music… and that was always fun and less crowded. If there’s nowhere else to go and you don’t want hype… this is it. It’s not spectacular, but it’s always a good time.

FINALLY, a fun, new place to add to my nightlife excursions. After a disappointing night in Hollywood, I returned to my new love, Santa Monica. Oh SM, how I love thee, but why must you be so far? I came here on a Saturday night around 10, and it wasn’t too crowded yet. This place fills out pretty quickly after 11 though, quite the hot spot. It’s decorated Moroccan-themed, with a really comfy, dark lounge with comfy couches. The bartenders are all really nice, and the drinks are poured with the right amount of BAM. Awesome hip hop music, and even though the dance floor is on the small side, I had a great time here!!! just gets a little sweaty. damn ventilation.

Ya, this place gets hot quick. It’s a fun place to go, not many places to sit, as there are only a few tables and most usually have a reserved paper on it, but they usually don’t notice if u take it off and sit there anyway. Good bartenders, pretty friendly, and very good drinks. Lots of ok people dancing. Kinda small dance area, but good music. They have a nice loungy red couch area to chill on too when you get a lil too wasted.

If it weren’t for the drunken bartender accidentally giving me waaay too much Grey Goose in all my drinks, I wouldn’t have liked this place at all. The space itself is decent, but when it’s crowded it feels like an inferno with no air conditioning, no fans, no circulation. Some people are cool with that, this wilting lily is not. The lounge area in the front is probably the best sell; it tends to be cooler in there and the red draped fabric has a Moroccan feel unlike the rest of the place. I thought drinks were pricey — $ 18 for a cran and Grey Goose and one well drink. The crowd was a cool mix of folks, though I had the funniest/appalling run-in with a guy with major yellow fever who actually had the balls to whisper to me, «So I hear Asian women are tight.» I laughed until I cringed.
