This place is absolutely amazing! It really makes a difference to come to nice salon and get the VIP treatment. Haircuts here are amazing. Ask for Jenny when you get there and she will take care of you.

After moving to SM I have been looking for a place to cut my hair and having several bad experiences at other salons I found salon Amba and Jenny who gave me the best hair cut ever and a new style that I’m very happy with and now I’m prebooked for my next appointment I say go for it !!!

I discovered Salon Amba while walking to get lunch one day. Jen is friendly, hospitable and gets client service. She is on time and does a fantastic job on highlights and color without the BH attitude. Her prices are reasonable and the salon has a hip vibe.

I started seeing Sachiko at Aya and happily came with her here to Amba(I prefer this salon by far. Chic and intimate). She came highly recommended by a close friend(as well as my friend’s mother and sister!) — so glad I listened. If you have long hair, you must see Sachiko! She is the long-hair«whisperer». I’ve put my hair through years of coloring and chemicals, yet every time I leave Sachiko’s chair, my hair is soft, healthy, and strong.(I get a whole lotta compliments!) I would be remiss if I did not mention Sachiko’s unbelievable head massage skills. She includes a long, luxurious head massage during the shampoo/conditioning process and it is absolutely heavenly. I literally dozed off for a moment during the last massage because I was so deeply relaxed and happy. She is wonderful. A truly kind, genuine person and a highly skilled professional.

I’ve been going to Jen for a few months now. I enjoy her cuts and creativity. I let her do what she wants and walk outta there looking good. She’s been on time and she is very friendly. If you are looking for a cheap cut, go to Floyds or Supercuts. This place is a bit more than that, but not crazy either. Going back next week for my cut!

I visited Salon Amba for the first time three weeks ago because my wonderful hair stylist, Sachiko, moved from another salon in Santa Monica. I loved the vibe of the Salon Amba. Clean. Quiet. Bright Light. Perfect layout. Comfortable seats. After having found parking very easily right out front, I walked in and was greeted with a very friendly face and hug from Sachiko thanking me for being willing to drive to the other side of Santa Monica to get my hair cut by her. Truth be told, I’d drive to the other side of this city if I had to in order to have Sachiko cut my hair. I’ve been getting my hair cut by Sachiko for the past six or seven years and really would travel far– certainly much farther than to the edge of Santa Monica!- to have her continue to cut my hair. Next up after the friendly hello was an offer of something to drink and then an amazing 10 — 15 minute shampoo and conditioner treatment that included a mind blowing head massage. Listen. I’m not a head massage person. I don’t like massages in general and in the rare instances when I do get one, I have the masseuse steer clear of my head. But. I will gladly let Sachiko work her magic hands over my head and massage all day and night if she’d like. It’s that good and makes the haircut something I always look forward to. Now that I’ve been lulled into a near state of light sleeping, I walk over to get my haircut with is always a collaborative approach as Sachiko cuts my hair knowing how little I like to do to it. I typically wait six months between appointments(bad, I know), so I always need more work than I think is necessary, but Sachiko always does a wonderful job cutting my hair just as I like it and giving it amazing body and life again. Sachiko is friendly and warm asking questions as she cuts but not overwhelming any sort of peace and quiet you may be looking for as you get your hair cut. She always shows you the finished product to make sure you like your hair cut and is willing to do any additional touching up if you’re not 100% satisfied. Salon Amba is a great environment and while I didn’t run into any other stylists, I’m sure they’re all wonderful!

Jenny is my regular stylist. Appointments are easy to get and the service is amazing! Love the head massage you get before she cuts your hair. If its during the week, I park on one of the residential streets, they have 2 hour parking without a permit. Don’t forget to look at the signs, beats feeding the meters!

Just an update… If you’ve read reviews of my work at Salon Amba and would like to make an appointment, I can now be found at a hot new Venice salon. It’s called The Harlot( ) on Abbot Kinney. I look forward to meeting you!

I wasn’t thrilled with my first experience here. I got a mediocre men’s haircut for about $ 60. I was not planning on returning, but since it is right around the corner from my house I went back. I was blinded by convenience. I made an appointment for 3:15 and ended up sitting around waiting until 3:45 when I walked out the door. The owner, Jen, promised to make it up to me, but I don’t plan on giving them my business ever again.

Everything I want in a salon — they’re flexible in setting appointments, it’s reasonably priced, Jen gets you in and out quiuckly, and you get a good, long-lasting men’s haircut! It’s also nice to have the small salon atmosphere, although Jen can be a little chatty

I googled«Salon in Santa Monica’ on my iPhone late on a Saturday afternoon — I was in a panic about my hair looking good for a last-minute evening event. It was 5pm and even though AMBA was about to close, Jen saw me anyway. She did a great job and I was thrilled. Jump to 2 weeks later and I am back in for a hair makeover that was a few years overdue. I now love my hairstyle and look forward to every visit as I know it will be creative and perfect for me and my lifestyle. I have always been a «referral» person when It has come to who does my hair. Meaning: I have never been a «walk in» sort of person. This was a great stroke of luck. Not only did AMBA salon deliver when I was in a panic, It continues to be my regular salon.

Well, what can I say I must have been to every salon in the Santa Monica/Beverly Hills area, I’ve paid less, I’ve paid more and didn’t stick with any of them. If they did a good job once guaranteed the next time you went they were either having personal problems and just weren’t interested in your hair or we’re moving on. Most of the salons are like noisy train stations, stylists shouting across the room, loud music, yap, yap, yap too much for me. When I came to Jenny at Salon Amba(walk in) she made me feel as if I was her only customer that day, she concentrated on what ‘I’ wanted and gave me her undivided attention. I loved what she did both color and cut, it’s been the best it has looked in a long time. If you are trying to grow your hair she will work with you and support you and if you are looking for a new style she is way up on all the new trends in color and style. This girl loves what she does and cares about you and wants you to walk out happy. The Salon is intimate and she has great taste in music. Try the Schwartskopf products I love the ‘Matting Powder’, changed my life, well my hair.

OK, so first off: A dude writing a review of a salon? Yeah, I know. But it’s my night off and I’m feeling it. You can deal with that, right? I don’t know about you, ladies(and gents)… but when it comes to hair, I’m less concerned with the place than with the person. And Vivian, who’s new to Salon Amba, is a life-changer. I was referred by a friend, and spent a fair bit of time consulting on what I wanted to do, what I wanted to change… how I wanted to look and feel(with my gf on hand for final approval, natch). Bottom line: I couldn’t be happier with the end result. I feel like I’ve stepped into the 21st century! WIN. Vivian is a real pro, and has a wonderful energy… she’s cool. The location is cool, too. Calm – serene, even – but the parking is sort of a challenge(especially on Fridays, when street parking is limited hours)… a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

This is just about the best salon I’ve ever been to. I happened to check it out since I lived less than a block away. I was suprisingly very satisfied with my cut. The stylist(Stephanie) made me feel like it was a true consultation. She asked what I wanted, what I liked, and she gave me some advice about what would look best on me. The cut turned out fantasitic. She was very skilled with layering. My hair ended up looking like Katie Holmes’ cut! I loooove it! The cut cost $ 70. The only real negative I could say is that they are a bit«sales-y». Whatever product she was using on my hair — shampoo, conditioner, leave-in continer– she would go into sales mode and explain the product and recommend it. She wasn’t pushy at all. In the end, I just said no the products. I will definitely return.
