couldnt be more than happy with the guys that work here, always so friendly and upbeat. I also love the fact that they arent rude to the homeless people. Its already a hard enough world, so it makes my day when i see them being nice,

Probably the best liquor store in the Santa Monica area, in terms of selection and prices. Most liquor stores are significantly more expensive than big box retailers, like if you go to a grocery store or Bevmo. However, Star Liquor’s pricing is almost comparable to them! Around the same price, or just 5−10% more, which is great. They also have a large selection of sparkling! I’m used to the cheap stuff at liquor stores(ie. selling Korbel for $ 20), but they actually have high end sparkling, at reasonable prices too.

Best liquor store in Santa Monica by far! I’m so glad that they were open until 2am. The selection was unbelievable. They had fine wines and the best imported beers. Nice area and great location with easy parking.

Best liquor store in town, always open and they have just about everything. Great prices too, who’s the dude complaining about high prices? Not here mate. And who’s the idiot complaining about people watching TV? — get a life, babe. Didn’t see you review the store, just complain about the clientele. Ramon and his crew are all friendly and helpful, this is a real neighbourhood store, I’m glad it’s here.

Easy to get to, with a wide selection of beach beers and ice. Glad this place is here. Would have given 5 stars if the prices weren’t so high.

Always open when I need something, Ramon and the rest of the guys are so nice and accommodating. Definitely a bit of seedy scene late at night, but it’s out of their control.

I really enjoy this store. I seem to always win on the lottery scratches that I buy here more than any other store. It is not I the best part of Santa Monica but not too bad. We park here to work and nothing has ever happened at night that I know of, plus the owner is nice. The cashier is not bad either. Will keep coming here.

Best neighbor bodega mostly because of the owners and staff and the late night hours, however be warned some of the other clientele can be somewhat scary, I’m cool with homeless but not the rif raf who are there to make trouble and end up scaring the crap out of me.

It is near by but also a very creepy place for a female to go. Many nights there are at least five men(some looking homeless) watching TV in there. Especially if it is fight night. All just standing around like it’s Italy. These are the men that cannot afford their own cable. They come on to me in a huge way making me very uncomfortable and do not back off when I’m clearly not interested and the man behind the counter stares with interest instead of telling the creepy guys not to hit on their paying customers. The men watching TV have no bag with items. Empty handed.

Taking my business elsewhere. Ricardo the«cashier/wanna be ultimate fighter» called the girl I was with the«c» word after she jokingly said he was a douche for carding her. That was wrong. She was right.

You can no longer get Fourloko in Boston. It’s disappeared from the shelves, never to return in its original form. Human nature naturally dictates that, because of this, all I wanted last week was to try a Fourloko. Scarcity value is sort of a b*tch, let me tell you, because I found myself passing liquor stores I had never even noticed before, wondering if they still had stock of the forbidden crunk juice. No dice. Then the tides turned and I found myself on a sparsely-populated street in the middle of Santa Monica. There it was — Star Liquors — shining like a beacon, returning hope to my previously disappointed soul. Did they have the elusive Fourloko? I had to look. I could hardly contain my excitement as we walked in and asked the employee about it. He told us they aren’t getting shipments anymore, but indicated with a wave of his hand that there may be some left in the cooler in the corner. Not only were there some left, actually, but there were a half dozen flavors. We excitedly picked up two, eager to understand what the fuss is all about. But I digress. The shop is very small, but they have a wall of coolers and carry the various energy-drink-looking cans of beer, 40s, 6-packs of local and nationally-recognized beers, other alcohol, and then staples like chips, water, jerkey, 7−11-type pre-made sandwiches and microwave burritos, and scratch tickets. I assume they sell tobacco, but I didn’t notice. For a small store, their prices for snack-y items are great, and they offer a very substantial variety. The man behind the counter is light-hearted, funny, friendly, and chatty. Clean and tidy are two words I would decidedly NOT use to describe Star, but come on. What do you expect? This is a great little neighborhood shop where you can buy snacks in a pinch without feeling gouged. As for the Fourloko? We split maybe 1⁄3 to ½ of a can of the watermelon flavor over the course of an entire evening, but couldn’t even muster up the courage to drink the rest, because it tastes like really alcoholic liquid Jolly Ranchers. Gross. However, mission accomplished. I came, I saw, I conquered(sort of), and I will never give Fourloko another thought.

I live around the corner and go out of my way to patron this place. Family owned and operated. The owner Romon and his son Richard always have a smile and a kind word for all the regulars that come in. Unlike some of the other liquor stores on Main Street, they are not pushy about upselling you to an expensive bottle of wine. They have a nice selection of wines and they have an entire area dedicated to chilled whites broken out by varietal. Best of all the have PINK Vueve Clicquot!
