Beautiful. She has the best view overlooking the Santa Monica Bay, there is just something calming about her, stop by and just breathe for a moment next time you are in the area!

Neato statue. I agree with Min T. below — this is even more obvious than the Washington Monument.

It’s St. Monica as in Santa Monica., the patron saint of our city. Legend has it that when the missionaries first came out here there was a natural spring bubbling out of the ground. So the Spaniards called it Santa Monica as it reminded them of her tears. FYI there is a plaque.

What is that? It looks like a big white penis. I’m sorry, it does! I suppose one day I should go and actually take a look up close since Joan’s review and pictures make it sound so pretty. I usually just point and laugh from the car as we drive by. Penis statue… erm…on the beach. It is a nice walk though along the path and it’s further north and away from the pier and promenade so it’s less congested on the pathway.

Great view. I’m not member of the God Squad, but I have to say that this is a great little statue with a breath taking back drop. Most of us in the neighborhood don’t stop by to admire it, but it truly is beautiful. Don’t half step. Catch it at sunset.

This Art Deco statue was a 1934 Public Works of Art Project creation. She is quite an attraction, standing tall on a bluff overlooking Santa Monica Bay, the«Queen’s Necklace». People leave flowers at her base, and light candles around her. Surrounding the statue is a patch of grass shaped like a heart. Magical.
