SPLA rocks!!! The teachers are AMAZING!!! You’ve never heard strings the way they teach these kids to play. When my daughter first started, she only had a classical repertoire. Now she loves cranking on Hendrix too! SHELOVESIT! What a great and motivating concept for kids. We’ve been participating for two years straight now, and they keep the coolest tunes coming to blow your mind with every concert. If your kid likes music, I’d definitely suggest you give this a try. This ain’t your typical school orchestra. 5+ stars!

Do you have kids who play the cello, violin, or viola and complain about playing nothing but Suzuki, and a classical repetoire? If so, SPLA is a great music program for string instrument students who want to play more than just classical music. My daughter, a cellist in high school, was about to give up on her instrument after five years of training when she was referred to String Project Los Angeles. This program helped open her eyes to cello music beyond her classical music repertoire. During the sessions she had with SPLA, she learned to creatively use the cello to play blues, jazz, rock, and pop music with other talented musicians. My daughter learned to open her mind to improvisation and just let go with her playing. If not for this program, she would have given up her instrument by now. The SPLA instructors, Jacob Szekely and Robert Anderson, are fantastic musicians in their own right. As instructors, they don’t just teach students how to play the instrument, but also how to develop good practice habits, and more importantly, how to perform. Their passion for what they are doing is infectious and inspiring. Highly recommended.

These are some amazing guys who work so hard to inspire these talented children. Jacob and Robbie are providing the students with tons of positive feedback that inspires and motivates the young musician. The summer program they just finished blew my mind. These kids rehearsed and learned min. of 6 Beatles songs arranged by Robbie and Jacob for strings. The kids had 4 days to practice. They rocked the house and most importantly, they had fun doing it! We love SPLA!!!
