Food courts are not my favorite places to eat at, so choosing somewhere to eat was a challenge in itself. I decided to come here to try their rice burger, since I’ve never had anything like it before, and it was pretty good. The rice itself is from a package and toasted but the other ingredients are obviously fresh. It was quite good but a little on the smaller side, and I was expecting something bigger.

Extremely delighted by my quick, last minute dinner from here. I had the chicken rice burger, edamame and gyozas. Price was perfect as the quality was good, service was fast and polite. I’d never had a rice burger and I think it’s easily the single most delightful $ 5 meal I’ve had in LA! Definitely will be back every time I’m here in the promenade!

Service is standard, food is good… wait time HORRIBLE!!! Plan for at least a 30min wait time.

I really wish I hadn’t forgotten my phone and had the opportunity to check Unilocal before trying this place out. Even by mall food court standards this is the worst sushi/Japanese food I’ve had. Compared to Sushi Itto, airport food is a godsend. I ordered a scorpion roll and a teriyaki chicken bowl. After waiting for almost 15 minutes, I didn’t finish either because they were so terrible. You may not get sick if you eat here, but you will regret it.

The Service: Only 1 cashier and she is also the«cook». She really has to multi-tasking. If there are a few customers in front of you, there might be a long wait time. The Food: I ordered Chicken Noodle Soup. The soup is a little bit too sweet and not hot enough. The noodle has ok texture. The chicken is so tiny… not too many pieces in the soup. The Parking: Parking structure(Santa Monica Place)

Food was good. Expensive, but still enjoyable. Rice burger was unique.

I got a chicken teriyaki bowl and was unimpressed. I feared the chicken was undercooked, as I saw the chef fry it more briefly than I was comfortable with… I didn’t finish it.

Not a good sushi place. The service was okay but the food really sucked. My spicy tuna roll definitely was blended with a few other fish, It was an odd color and tasted very bland. Not spicy at all. Will not be coming to this sushi spot ever again!

I like the food court in Santa Monica Place. It’s a little bit upscale for a food court and they have a wonderful outdoor patio. I’ve been a regular visitor here since the mall re-opened. I had been wondering about Sushi Itto, I love sushi and Japanese food. First, I wasn’t all too sure how to order. Do you sit at the counter? I walked over and stood where other people were standing but this was the food pickup line. Ok, I see the register now — go stand there. I ordered the Godzilla roll and a teriyaki chicken«rice burger.» It seemed there was only one person preparing food and there were a few people ahead of me so I had a decent wait before my food was up(and it was slow in the food court at that time). I picked up my order and went outside — beautiful day. The roll was bland, the rice was awful. This is not sushi rice. Prepping and cooking rice for sushi is important. I have only been told how to make sushi(and rice for sushi) by friends who have taken brief classes and I make better sushi than this at home. With wasabi & soy sauce it was edible. I wouldn’t order it again though. The rice burger… I was intrigued. Rice formed into«buns» for a «burger.» It looked interesting — promising. I bit into it. The rice«buns» were tough, there was no flavor. Even the teriyaki chicken had very little flavor. It just seemed like a thick mass of texture. I put some soy sauce on it. At least it tasted a little salty then. I ate a little more than half of it and gave up. Finishing it would have been unpleasant. I really didn’t want any more of this low quality fare. I asked a Japanese friend about rice burgers, since I had never heard of them before. She said that Mos Burger in Japan sells them and that she enjoys them at Mos Burger. I am much more pleased with the sushi & onigiri at Famima. I would think that Sushi Itto would be able to top their pre-made food but I always enjoy my snacks from Famima and yet found Sushi Itto barely edible.

This should be ZERO stars. I have literally never had a worse service and food experience in my life. DONOTGOHERE. Came on a Saturday and should have known from the first interaction with the manager that I should’ve stayed far away. I asked him what the rice burger was and he irritatedly looked up from his cell phone that he was texting on behind the counter and said, «It’s a BURGER.» I said I wanted more of a description, but that’s as much as he could explain. The girl at the register looked at me so blankly, I thought I was asking the wrong person. I had the intuitive feeling then I should just walk away, but for some reason I didn’t. After I ordered I saw the manager pull frozen edamame out and toss in boiling water. Then I saw the cook pull cold rice patties out of the fridge and put them in the microwave. I felt very worried. I saw an almost totally empty bottle of Sriracha on the counter and asked for more. The manager One bite into the tough, overly chewy, tasteless, dry, old rice patty and I knew I’d made a horrible mistake. Edamame tasted like it had been frostbitten and had no seasoning, either. I brought it back and asked for my money. Register girl said, «We don’t do that.» I asked for a manager and she said he was out. I asked her to call him. She said, «He’ll be back. Do you want to wait?» I said, «Do I have a choice?» Manager walks back in, talks to register girl, comes over and says in a very sarcastic way, «What exactly is the problem?» I explained. He said, «We don’t give money back on food. I’ll remake it for you.» I said I didn’t want anything else from here, especially after I saw more of the kitchen while I was waiting and it was dirty, and the manager had come in and not washed his hands before he started handling food. Also, when I said the rice wasn’t fresh, he said, «It was made this morning!!» but it was 8 o’clock at night! Some quotes from Luis, the manager: «Don’t come to a food court if you want something fresh!» «I can’t do anything if the food doesn’t taste fresh! We get it from a supplier and if they give me something bad, that’s not my problem.» «The edamame is fresh! I got it frozen from our supplier today. There is no such thing as fresh/not frozen edamame.» After a lot of arguing that escalated into yelling, the manager, Luis, told me he would call security on me. I said, «Please do!» After some urging from the register girl, he finally agreed to give me my money back. I said, «Your owner is not going to be happy about this.» Luis said, «Yeah, yeah. I don’t care.» Now I know why there was not a single person in line on a Saturday night when the whole place was slammed. The sign is written«SuSHITo» for a reason.

My husband and I were at the mall late night and needed to grab something quick for dinner. We both got the combo, which includes a bowl, salad, and drink. I ordered the salmon donburri and he ordered the chicken teriyaki. We thought the food was pretty good and it was made fresh in front of us. Not drowned in sauce or complicated. Some things that we thought could use some work: we didn’t receive any dressing for our salad and when we asked for Siracha sauce(the bottle was empty) they told us to take some from the Japanese restaurant across from them. The pre packaged sushi looked pretty bad so we steered clear. There is a sushi bar on the other side which offers rolls for about $ 13. For that price just go to Ozuma next door. Overall we were pleased and would go back.

Oi! The service was very bad. They asked me(and several other customers) which food items we were still waiting for several different times. Really? We have to tell you what we still need to complete the orders? And that many times too? I waited a long time for my food, at least 30 min total, for food court food. All of the customers were polite, but another customer and I looked at each other like Really? Really? I saw six people working there, but besides the people making the food, it didn’t seem like the others really knew what their roles were. It was seriously seriously disorganized. I got a bento box but they forgot to ask me which sushi I wanted as part of my order. I went back to tell the girl I ordered from, but she didn’t know which ones I could choose from, and told me to ask someone else. I asked two other employees who both gave me different responses. Finally, a guy said I could choose between the spicy tuna or CA roll. So though it says on the menu that you could choose any four(bc they offer a variety of rolls/sushi), it doesn’t actually mean that. Later on, they asked me several times if I wanted brown rice for the tuna don bowl(which was for my husband) even though I told them when I first ordered. To top it all off, the food was disappointing, even by food court standards. My bento box was so sad. The meat was over salty and tough. The stir fried udon was tasteless. The sushi tasted worse than grocery store sushi. They forgot the wasabi and ginger too. On the fiip side, my daughter liked her udon soup, but she is very young, and also easy to please, when it comes to udon soup. My husband’s tuna don bowl looked pretty darn unappetizing(slimy and messy) but he actually said it tasted ok. I realize food court places aren’t usually going to be good as other places, and I take that into account. But the food was ok at best, and the service was just terrible. I hope they get their act together and do better. I wonder how any of them would’ve felt if they went somewhere and got this kind of service. There were no apologies and on top of it all, no one was friendly. They weren’t rude, but they definitely weren’t friendly or warm at all. Seriously, an apology or nice attitude would’ve gone a long way with me.

WHYDID I CHOOSETOEATHERE of all the food court options of the Santa Monica Place?! WHAT A MISTAKE… first of all the menu is confusing, but they do give an effort to explain how it works SECOND… if you order the combo that comes with sushi rolls. you’re only allowed to choose from the ready made selection. which they seem to purposely only stock cheap rolls of… ANDFEWOFTHEM third… the beef noodle bowl was PRETTYDARNMEDIOCRE in general SKIPIT… theres way better places in the food court or Market

***Sushi Itto is like a lot of the other food court eateries out there, which is not a good thing(mediocre food)*** Sushi Itto is a little Japanese express eatery in the food court at the recently revamped Santa Monica Place. The setup here allows you to pick from a wide variety of cooked meats, fried food and sushi rolls. Unfortunately, like a lot of food court places, the food here is not that good. Also, because this food court is more of an upscale food court, the food here wasn’t exactly cheap either. Service was pretty good and the manager on-site seemed to be organized and strong. For parking, you can park in the Santa Monica Place parking structure, but I believe it is a paid structure. There are a few structures nearby that are free for the first hour or so.

I was hoping for cheaper sushi than the fancy Japanese place outside. The average nigiri price is $ 5 – 6, which isn’t that cheap. Salmon was good, yellowtail was fishy, albacore was fishy, seaweed salad was generic, edamame were good but fried with oil so extremely messy to eat and not healthy. We sat at the bar and watched as the kitchen staff all asked each other how to do things — everyone was pretty clueless. How to cut the fish, how much to deep fry the egg, etc. It was a joke. Never going here again.

It was ok. I got the 3 item meal which came w/chipotle udon noodle and rice. I also go the teryaki chicken, chicken curry, and the veggie spring rolls. Everything was good. The chicken teryaki was tasty as were the udon noodles but the noodles weren’t as «chipotle» as they were advertised. They just tasted like udon noodles. Would I come back here… probably not! My friend had a beef bento box and some sushi. She didn’t like the sushi at all… out of 4 pieces she only ate 1. IDK why she ordered it in the first place! The first rule of sushi… you never order sushi at a fast food place!!! She learned her lesson!

Went here for the 1st time. There’s 2 Japanese eateries in the food court. I asked an employee at another eatery which Japanese place tasted better & she said this one, which is what I figured too from what I saw. The place looked clean & the food appeared good. The food is OK like the others said. I’d give them 2.5 stars. I had their fried rice, noodles, chicken teriyaki, & shrimp temmpanyaki, which they put in a good-sized bowl for $ 9.42 total. Everything was OK/pretty good, but the fried rice tasted strange. It didn’t taste authentic. I don’t have to come here again because there’s many more places to try. Unless something’s really out of this world, why go to the same place twice?
