I’ve been going to Jane at The Kutting Room for about 10 years now. I will follow her anywhere! It took me 6 – 7 years to finally find a stylist in LA that knew how to cut my extremely thick hair and that I completely trust. My sister saw how fantastic my hair looked and started going to her soon after me, and she has been w/​Jane ever since, too.
She also gives really stylish men’s cuts! She’s amazing!

Jane is amazing!!! She’s a bit of a drive (3 – 4 hrs round trip) for me, but sooooo worth it. Her cut is amazing and gets even better with time. She somehow knows how your hair will grow out in a few days, then a few weeks. Nice, talented, experienced, and listens to what you want and gives great suggestions. 10 stars!!!

Jane is a master! She assesses your hair and cuts with precision, giving you a haircut that is perfect for you! Jane balances a good, current look with a cut that is easy to manage. I couldn’t be happier. She is delightful too!

Best haircut in the greater Los Angeles area in my opinion.

I’ve been going to Jane at The Kutting Room for 5 years now. She takes good care of me and I trust her input and decisions completely when it comes to my hair. She has transformed my hair from various lengths and styles. She always recommends good hair products based on your hair type and intended style too. Aside from her cutting skills she’s easy to talk to when you’re in the chair. Can’t ask for more than that!

I will always vouch for The Kutting Room. Jane, the owner, is the most knowledgeable stylist in her profession. I am always confident she will do an excellent job. I often let her style my hair how she sees fit and I am always pleasantly surprised, leaving her feeling confident. She is honest and has great style.

Jane is the best! I happily make the drive to Santa Monica to have her cut my hair. I have went to many different people over the past 8 years and have only let Jane cut my hair after meeting her 4 years ago. The Kutting Room is now at 211 Broadway — great location and setup. I love everything about it.
I also have Jane do hair for all of my clients photos and videos. She is great.

I got my hair and make-​up done for an engagement shower a few weeks ago, and I really liked the style and make-​up. Grace did my make-​up… she was awesome! It came out beautifully, and Sheila did my hair in a up-​do which isn’t easy because it was kind of short. She really spent a lot of time getting it just right. Thanks!

So! I just got my hair colored at The KuttingRoom and I LOVE the color! Every time I do get my hair done at The KuttingRoom, I walk away completely satisfied and know that my hair is always in good hands. And the constant complements that I get from people is a bonus. :)
Also, I notice Jane, the owner is always teaching her staff on trick of the trade and that makes me feel comfortable to know that her and her staff are all on the same mentality of how I like to have my hair look and feel.

I met Jane through a mutual friend and she gave me her card. I hadn’t been too happy with how my previous stylist was cutting my hair so I decided to make a change with Jane.
Jane did an AWESOME job. I absolutely love the color and cut she gave me. All my friends and family love what she did with my hair. Jane gave me a few suggestions on how to style my hair, and whenever I try one out the compliments come flying.

my first time was an experience, but the stylist’s awesome attitude made up for it. my stylist was the owner jane and i basically let her cut away. i love my cut!!! it’s grown out a bit but she knows how to work wiht her texture & your personal style.
the salon is also an art gallery by nite so it’s very unique, urban-​ish, vibey! very LA/​Hollywood!
i ‘ve recommended friends & family and they all had positive feedback!

hands down the most fun salon ive ever been to. professionals at their best. hair and art. there is no other more perfect juxtapostion of hair and art than this place. supporting its local artists it is the only place i will pay hard earned money for my hair…

Last nite i once again rid myself of the horrors of curly, frizzy, unruly hair and replaced it with beautiful straight, shiny, and manageable hair. This was achieved through the beauty of my new best friend, Grace. Grace is a lovely young woman who definitely knows a thing or two about hair. She is friendly, outgoing, and makes the hours of straightening just wiz by. She charged like half of what other Japanese salons does. Next week, im going back for a cut. .. check this place out.
they are a little on the hard to find side, but worth it.

As one who enjoys spending money to improve her quality of life, I really appreciate when the service/​products I receive are worth the price paid. My shopaholic cousin has taught me that high cost items can be measured on a cost-​per-​use scale.
When it comes to haircuts, I will spend anywhere from $ 5-​$ 300 depending on my desired style and quality of service. I ran into an old church friend of mine who’s gained some weight since the last time I saw her and was completely distracted by her hair. She gave me a card for a girl named Grace and I took it. (Hey if a great haircut will distract people from looking elsewhere, I’m sold.) Thus, I arrived at the Kutting Room.
The Experience: Grace was friendly and confidant without being overbearing. She was pleasant and calm when I badgered her over the phone and super chill when I showed up at the Kutting Room. (In retrospect, one probably should not snarl at a stylist before meeting them but I’ve had so many disappointments concerning bad stylists, I’m no longer walking into disaster with both eyes closed. Thank you T at RS.)
I called to let her know I was running late and she was really nice about it. I didn’t have a picture of the look I wanted so my description was probably pretty vague but my hair came out looking all shades of hot. It’s another layer but will actually look good growing out. (My hair always seems to look ratty whenever my cuts grow out.) Grace was quick, got the job done, made small talk without being over chatty and cracked jokes with the other stylists. She also gave me quick styling tips for lazy days.
All in all it was refreshing to get styled from an actual stylist who lets their work speak for itself rather than wasting time and money with pretentious wannabes who either 1. pretend they know what they’re doing and damage your looks or 2. know they can’t do what you want and harass you about what they think you should do with your hair. Grace can cut and she’s fun.
I have a color appointment with Grace when I get back from NY. This will be the first salon and the first stylist I’ve actually returned to for additional service. Cheers!!!

I’m surprised there are no reviews of this shop yet! I’ve been going to get my hair styled (yes, styled; «cut» is what you do to an overgrown hedge) for the past year and a half and have been happy with the results.
Jane (the owner) is an awesome chick that always hooks me up with a tight hairstyle. She’s kind of feisty as a person but I dig that. :-)
I’ve also had my hair styled by Elezar (sp?), who’s also got mad skills with the shears. He’s a little bit more expensive than Jane but considering the way my hair is he’s worth the price.
The clientele’s pretty well-​mixed– I see both guys and girls of various backgrounds get their hair hooked up all the time here.
The only reason this place doesn’t get the full 5-​star treatment– the price. :-\ I’m not exactly made of money and sometimes it’s hard to justify the cost of my haircut so I try to stretch my hairstyle for an extra month or so between each visit. Ultimately, though, I feel their service is worth it. Now if only I could win that darn CA Lottery I’d be set…
