William A. Growdon, MD

I have been going to Dr Growdon for about 35 years. I had gone to several OBGYN’s prior to finding him. I called UCLA for a referral and once I started going to him I never switched. Early on before he really knew me I had a very bad infection and that night he called me just to check if I was ok. In 1986 when my first child was born I researched and found that he a very low cesarian rate and was very uninvasive which made me super happy. When my second child was born in 1990 he was totally open to what we wanted. Over the years I would bring my young children with me to the appointments and they always remember how he spoke to them in his «Donald Duck» voice.
I have changed insurance multiple times over the years and I always made sure he was in the plan before I signed up. I have thought of him as my «primary» doctor for most of these years. He is always helpful and I found I could talk to him about any issue and is available by phone when questions arrise. I am now living about 2 hours east of Santa Monica and I continue to go to Dr Growdon for my annual well woman appointments. I woud never go elsewhere and hope he never retires :). Because we have known each other for so long it’s always a pleasure to go to my appointments. This week we had a chance to catch up, share pictures of our kids and talk about our new «dog kids». He is really a great caring and knowledgable doctor and I highly recommend him.

For ten years I trusted Dr. Growdon’s brilliance to fix anything and everything that went wrong with me ‘down there’. I never paid any attention to his annual breast exams until he said, «I feel something I want you to have checked. It’s going to be hard for them to find.» So he sent me off to the radiologist with a quickly drawn map.
He was right. Even with his instructions and map, they had to look for it a couple of times. With a lumpectomy and radiation I’ve had three busy healthy years. Extra years. I owe Dr. Growdon more than five stars. I owe him hundreds more.

Outstanding physician! I always seek out the best in their fields as a medical geek and he is just that for gynecology. I left my doctor of 15 years for Dr. Growdon based on a referral 5 years ago and have been beyond satisfied. I hesitate writing this review only because I don’t want to make it even more difficult for myself and his other patients to get into to see him, which can at times take a while, but he’s worth the wait.

Dr. Growdon is a wonderful doctor! I have been seeing him for over 14 years and he is always at the top of his game. I am so lucky to have a knowledgeable and caring doctor.

He is our OB and has a ton of experience and has been very supportive throughout the process. We also appreciate his willingness to support our birth plan.

I have been a patient of Dr. Growdon’s for about 16 years and he recently delivered my first child. Mine was considered a high risk pregnancy and I wouldn’t have trusted anyone other than Dr. Growdon to see me through it. From Day 1 he talked me through the stages and tests and guided me through a successful delivery. He ensured that I had all the facts, did not allow me to become overly stressed over high volumes of information and did not push me towards unnecessary tests. He also referred me to amazing specialists as needed. I cannot recommend Dr. Growdon highly enough.

I 100% agree with mummy m. Dr. Growdon is extremely knowledgeable and that makes up for the fact that his bed side manner is a bit cold. He rarely smiles and does forget some details (nothing that would ever influence your treatment but more things that make you feel like he is seeing a billion patients all the time).
On the other hand he has helped me with some medical issues that NO OTHER Dr. in southern california has been able to figure out. He is considered one of the best specialists on the west coast and I can definitely vouch for that.
The front office staff is often quite rude/​short with patients, especially on the phone. Worth going to Dr. Growdon if you have a medical issue that is difficult to solve.
