We had the greatest experience with Rick and his team. They absolutely transformed our concrete counters. We had stains and damage to our counters and he came in and showed us examples of what we could achieve with the same surface — just creating a new layer with a new finish and design. We are so happy with the end result. He was easy to work with, showed up as agreed, was fair on the pricing. He is a true artist and knows his business. I highly recommend Designs by Rick for those building a new kitchen or a re-​model. His showroom gave us helpful ideas that ultimately helped us choose the colors and design for our kitchen. We spend a ton of time in this room — and I am grateful everyday that we used Rick for our re-​model. You will not be disappointed! Forget granite — his designs are much more beautiful!

We hired Rick to refinish our kitchen cabinets… while discussing samples in his show room, we saw the work he does on counter tops and we were sold! An amazing transformation to what was an otherwise dated, dreary kitchen. The counter tops are a piece of art! I can’t praise Rick enough as a professional; we both work/​travel and he was nothing but accommodating when scheduling meeting times. His team was prompt, courteous and very respectful of any noise/​clean-​up. Most important to me, they stuck to timelines and got the job done as/​when promised. He even went above and beyond by offering to finish some trim that was not included in the original scope. So wonderful to find such talent locally!

Rick and Jenn were both professional and great to work with! Our countertops look AMAZING! We had a standard white tile in our kitchen and once the neutral/​tan concrete was installed, our kitchen went from boring to chic! It has made such a big difference in our kitchen. Its been about a month since we had Rick do countertops in our kitchen and two bathrooms. We love them. After getting three estimates from the usual granite and quartz countertop companies, we set up an appointment to visit Rick in his showroom– almost as an afterthought. But my wife fell in love with the unique look of Rick’s work, and he answered every question she had, including whether these can be repaired if something bad happens (they can be). We were aware of Rick from a Press Democrat Article from two years ago. He is a pleasure to work with, showed up on time, and did everything he said he would do. If you want new countertops that look just like those of all your neighbors, then go the granite route. But if you want something unique, that has the heavy look of stone, and will save you a few grand, then give Rick a call. Steve Smith in Petaluma

Rick helped rescue us from our golden oak with heavy tiger stripe grain cabinets! He sanded and filled them and then transformed them into custom appearing by a oyster paint and amber glaze which he masterfully distressed to give such charm. He also designed a mantle for us including distressed wood mantle with hinges and concrete to replace tile. When rick was working, it was the first time over 1 month renovation that I did not worry! He is professional and deli able!

Rick did a very poor job of painting our kitchen cabinets. Rick was arrogant, defensive, and unwilling to fix the errors he created i.e. paint did not cover cabinet surface, paint chipped in one week, cabinet handles did not align, and cabinet handles were not tightened securely. Job was done in 2012, got our money refunded in 2013, and hired a real professional painter to redo the job in 2014. Looks beautiful today!

Rick did a wonderful job re doing my failed concrete counter tops! My old counter tops were peeling and chipping. He was able to go over the counter tops and up to my back splash, around my already in place sink and make it look like it was the original job! Great job and he even came back and fixed some places that needed sanding with a big smile on his face! He was easy to communicate with by email, text and his wife who also answered my calls and questions. My kitchen looks like a million dollar kitchen again!

We contracted with Designs by Rick for both new cement counter tops and refinished cabinets. Our counters included some custom shapes and unique back splashes. Ricky was creative and helpful when addressing each unusual situation. Our dark oak cabinetry was amazingly transformed! Our up-​dated kitchen is now much brighter and more appealing. The entire job was done with minimal mess, and the work site was thoroughly clean at the end of each day. Ricky and his wife were responsive to every phone call and email during the job as well as after it was complete. We really enjoy working in our new kitchen, and our neighbors like it too!

We contracted with Rick to do some countertops for a house we had in Fairfield, CA that we were getting ready for sale. We could have done granite but his sample designs looked better than what you can attain with granite. The countertops ended up taking him a couple of days longer because the epoxy layer, which is the last step, wasn’t cooperating. He came back, without my prompting him, to correct the situation. After all was said and done, they looked great and everyone from real estate agents, potential buyers, and other people we had working on the house, had nothing but good things to say about the countertops. They ended up being one of the main selling points for the house.

We hired Ricky to do our countertops, and we are so happy we did! He is extremely professional and easy to work with. He was great about communicating with my contractors what needed to be done to prepare the countertops for his concrete work, and would also have been able to have someone do that if my contractors couldn’t. A bonus is that the materials and process are very environmentally friendly, and we got a beautiful, modern, designer look at a fraction of what we would have paid for new counters.

Wow, I had painted over my oak cabinets on our wet bar and it looked awful. I had Rick come in and he painted and glazed the cabinets and they look like I bought new expensive cabinetry. I love them!
